Hyatt Runway Rooftop…read more This is one of those places you keep meaning to go. We finally went and I'm glad we did. The ingress and egress was simple, just follow the signs. There was ample free parking. We arrived before sunset which allowed us to see fabulous sights- the airport traffic in daylight, and the sunset which is God's gift after a long day. At night, the airport is a hub of activity. It's a terrific view. If you're interested in sports, they have it available at the bar. It isn't just the atmosphere and view that make this a good restaurant, it is the quality and quantity of food. Like some of you, I traveled extensively during my career. Hotel restaurants were not known for high-quality food. This place is an exception. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food, ample amounts, and reasonableness of the prices. The service was excellent. We will return. We recommended it to you.

My husband's slider was pretty good though and since it was the daily special, it came with fries. It was also a reasonable price which made it even better. Plastic chairs are not our thing but the area around the fire looked nice. The drinks were inconsistent, one looked and tasted good, the second one had no garnish and tasted like they also forgot the alcohol. I doubt we'll go back.

I attended a Yelp event at The Landing Rooftop and left wondering if the view or the food stole the…read moreshow. Honestly, it's a close race. Perched above downtown Melbourne, the rooftop offers stunning panoramic views of the river, the causeway, and the city below. It's the kind of place where you find yourself taking "just one more picture" every few minutes. We started with a Bloody Mary and a creamy Espresso Martini--both beautifully crafted and a perfect way to settle in and enjoy the scenery. The crab cakes were fantastic: crispy on the outside, packed with crab, and refreshingly light on filler. The watermelon salad was bright, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. It came with olives, which weren't really necessary for us, but they were easy to set aside and didn't take away from an otherwise excellent dish. The star of the meal was the 12-ounce ribeye with cowboy butter, cooked rare exactly as requested. A perfect sear on the outside, tender and juicy inside. The crispy potatoes were golden and creamy, the heirloom carrots and asparagus were cooked beautifully, and the pesto added a fresh burst of flavor that tied everything together. Between the exceptional food, creative cocktails, attentive service, and a view that makes you want to linger long after the meal is over, The Landing Rooftop delivered an experience that felt special from start to finish. And a big thank you to Yelp for hosting such a wonderful event and giving us the perfect excuse to spend an afternoon enjoying one of Melbourne's best views. I'll definitely be back--though next time I may need to decide whether I'm there for the steak or the skyline.

We visited this evening for dinner and had a great time! The food and drinks were so good not to mention the amazing selection of bourbon that is available. They also have a cellar where they sell a variety of wine and spirits. We came here looking for something particular and our server took the time to go to the cellar while we were eating to find it for us. We have attended holiday events here over the years as well and it was always a treat. I have seen posts about the atmosphere we sat outside and really enjoyed it. Please check this place out. Reasonably priced for the portions, great presentation, service and quality.

Even though it was the holidays, I think it must be the off season because it wasn't that busy at the hotel or anywhere in the area which, to me, seems like the staff should have been very attentive to the guests they had.If I could sum up our experience at the hotel in one word, it would be "disengaged." We felt it with almost every single staff member from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The only exceptions were Lorin at the front desk on our last two days, who was extremely competent and should be given every promotion they have, and a young man from housekeeping. Every other staff member was consistently either talking with each other or friends who had stopped by the hotel or staring at their phones but not engaging with the guests. It happened at the valet stand, at the front desk the day we arrived (and the following two days), on the elevator and in the halls. We had the same experience with the restaurant staff but I reviewed that separately. Our first night, as we headed out for dinner, we asked the young woman at the front desk to have staff make up the sofa bed for our child. When we returned several hours later, we found a pile of pillows and blankets on top of the king size bed, but the sofa bed wasn't made up. We weren't even sure how to open the sofa bed and my husband had to go downstairs and ask. Every single day we were there, except one, our room wasn't made up by the time we came back in the evening, even though we had been out for hours. It was like they saw our do not disturb sign in the morning but never bothered to check if it was removed at some point later in the day. The one time it was made up, my husband had called about an hour in advance of us returning (around 4 p.m.) to ask if they had made up the room so there's a very real chance that it wouldn't have been made up that day, either. The other times, we had to hunt down a maid to make up the room or just gave up and asked for fresh towels. Not a single time that the room was made up did they make up the sofa bed, however. We always came back to a tangled pile of sheets and pillows that we had to remake. The room was spacious and beautiful (we really like the modern city loft-like feel), the bathroom was clean and modern, and the view was stunning. Those things all deserve 4 or 5 stars. However, I've been to hotels of all types in cities all over the world and this was absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced. Management needs to come in and completely overhaul their training methods. If management is the problem, then that should be addressed. The Melby should be the crown jewel of historic downtown Melby but with this level of service, it will never be.

After waiting, we politely made eye contact and gave a small wave in an attempt to get service. We were patient and respectful throughout. Despite that, we were not assisted. As the only person of color in that section of the bar, I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and question why we were being overlooked. Whether intentional or not, the experience left me feeling unwelcome. We ultimately left without being served. When looking for a hotel in Orlando, I specifically wanted to stay away from the theme park area…read more In my experience, many hotels near theme parks have nice lobbies, but once you get to the rooms, they're often worn down from the constant stream of guests and heavy foot traffic. There are always tons of families and kids coming through, and it shows. I personally don't care how nice the lobby looks because you're paying to be in the room. This hotel ended up being a good alternative. It's about 30 minutes from most of the theme parks and the convention center, but I didn't mind the drive. The area is much quieter, and the views are actually really nice. There's a lake, lots of greenery, and even cows nearby, which was a nice change from the typical Orlando tourist scene. Pros * Beautiful property with nice views and a much more relaxing atmosphere than the theme park area. * Modern, clean, and well-maintained. * Several great restaurants on-site, including Michelin-recognized options. * Easy check-in process. * The room was clean and updated. I didn't have any cleanliness issues during my stay, which is more than I can say for a lot of hotels these days. * Free parking. * Comfortable bed. * The AC worked really well. The room stayed cold the entire time, which was a huge plus in Florida. * Electronic blackout blinds and window film do a great job blocking out sunlight. * In-room iPad makes it easy to communicate with guest services. * Although I'm usually not a fan of carpet in hotel rooms, this carpet appeared clean and was in good condition. Cons * The airport is nearby, so planes fly overhead pretty frequently. It didn't bother me much because I sleep with earplugs, but if you're sensitive to noise or are a light sleeper, it's definitely something to consider. You'll notice the planes throughout the day and into the evening. * The location is a little removed from everything. That's part of what makes it peaceful, but it also means you'll be driving if you want to go anywhere. * The pillows could have been firmer. * One of the charging stations in the room didn't work, and my phone didn't charge overnight. Thankfully, I had a backup charger. * The motion-sensor lights sounded great in theory but were annoying at night. Every time I got up to use the restroom, lights would turn on automatically. As a light sleeper, I found it difficult to fall back asleep afterward. * My biggest complaint was the electronic toilet. At first, I thought it was a cool feature, but throughout the night it would randomly run cleaning and reset cycles that made noise. If you're a heavy sleeper, you probably won't care. If you're a light sleeper, it can get annoying pretty quickly. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would choose this hotel again over most of the hotels near the theme parks. It's clean, modern, quieter than staying in the tourist areas, and the property itself is beautiful. Just be aware of the airport noise and some of the overly complicated technology in the rooms.
