The Bar Method is my favorite place! I have had the unlimited membership for almost a year now and it never gets old! This studio has an incredibly welcoming environment and instantly makes you feel apart of their community. The sense of belonging here is unmatched. They offer many different formats (strength, flow, cardio, and traditional barre) - I always feel challenged at every class! Barre, especially at The Bar Method, has transformed my fitness journey both mentally and physically. I can't recommend trying a class here enough!

Super friendly staff and instructors. The woman at the front desk greeted me with a warm smile and had such positive energy. She made me feel so welcomed-- taking away any anxiety I might have had for my first ever barre class. The studio itself is very clean and modern. They told me they recently go new carpet installed, so that's great. The class I took was the Bar Method express class (45mins) with Beth. She is an amazing instructor that will get you sweating and working out some muscle you never thought you had. This class was a bit fast paced, but it's in the name. Can't wait to return for a regular Bar Method class.

I love this studio. I came in for my first class and I felt so welcomed. The class was challenging but it was still beginner friendly. The instructor was super sweet and I even received a hand written note from her in the mail a week after my first class. I also got sent home with some bath salts to help with soreness after that first class. They really are so thoughtful here!

The bar method has great variety of cardio/stretch classes that challenge you and only get harder as you become more comfortable with the routine of it! The staff is warm and welcoming and make an effort to really get to know you!

Tuck, tuck, tuck... Bar method, like food trucks, is one of those things I've been hearing about from my cool west coast friends for a while now, and hoping it would eventually migrate to our area. Honestly, the more food trucks we get, the more I need a workout like bar method. This is the second studio in our area, I believe, that specializes in the method, and the first that is part of the trademarked Bar Method™ chain that is the best known. I attended the second open-to-the-public class today and ABSOLUTELY got a workout. (I should mention that for this only being the second official class, the instruction was very polished and flowed well! Kendra gave great direction and coaching even when I wanted to collapse due to my burning quadriceps.) The one hour class goes through warmup, arm work, extensive core and lower body work, and cooldown. Much more of the focus is on strength than on cardio. The instructors will correct your form throughout the class, which I very much appreciate. Though I do yoga and pilates fairly regularly, I have no dance background at all, so many of the small moves that work the legs, glutes and core were unfamiliar to me and extremely challenging. The two studios are small but did not feel overcrowded, and the locker room is very nice, as well. My coworker asked me after the class if Winter Park Village patrons can see you working out and the answer is no if anyone else has this concern :) Pricing is something like $22/class, with a new student special for $100 the first month. Tip: bring socks (you can't practice without them, though they do sell them on site).

My butt fell and couldn't get up...till Bar Method!

There are plenty of cardio machines and various free weights, so even when it is busy you typically do not have to wait around for something or at least that long. I usually go early in the morning but wish they stayed open a bit later and had more expanded hours on the weekend. Equipment wise they are not really lacking for a gym of this size and someone on staff told me that they may be adding a Deadlift platform, which would be a nice addition. I have yet to take advantage of the numerous other things available to me as a member (like the pool, Y360, etc.). Overall a quality gym for a good value.

I…read morefinally have a regular schedule with Nick, but I started out going to random sessions throughout the week, based on my schedule abs his availability. I always found him to be very flexible with me. The sessions don't come cheap, but hey, you get what you pay for. That's a common theme in life. Don't forget it. Nick monitors my progress but is also very open when it comes to movements and weights. Some days I have knee pain, some days I don't. If the weight looks easy, he will increase the reps or the weight. Sometimes I am the one who says I can do more weight, and he increases it. Sometimes I am tired and sore and he asks me how I'm doing/feeling and makes adjustments based on that. I've never been injured working with Nick. He watches my movements and corrects me as needed. He asks me if and what I've trained outside of the gym so he can tailor my workout to areas I've missed. I enjoy conversing with Nick as I train. The studio is private, so my sessions are always one on one, but the gym is a membership only place, so occasionally there are other people working out. The personal training clients get first dibs on the equipment when with Nick, but there is enough stuff and space that we are never negotiating with other people. He moved to a new gym space recently and it's more spacious than the prior spot. He also has gathered more equipment. Parking is way better now too and there are separate male and female bathrooms. I'd say the new place is a major upgrade. I only do the personal training. So while I can't speak for the gym membership, what I know is- the price is reasonable, you get 24 hour access with scheduled appointment (so the gym isn't overbooked) and there are security cameras for your safety. Check his page on IG for more info, @theweighthouse and his website theweighthouse.com as well. He also has some fantastic merch for sale.

There's the guy who grunts so loudly you'd think he's summoning a demon, and the woman who is always in a matching sports bra and legging set (seriously, how does she do it that early in the morning?), the girl with head phones in, but is always listening and our beloved neat freak keeping us all in check when we didn't re-rack our weights that one time. I have not worked out or done much physical activity since I had a baby, so one of my goals is to increase my mobility and flexibility before just jumping back into exercise. She let me know that non-slip grippy socks are required which was good to know. They do have them available for purchase in store if you forget or need to get some. Upon arrival, I was kindly greeted and instructed to remove my shoes and get ready with my socks on. My flexologist was Mackenzie and she was wonderful. She walked me back to the stretch bench and began to explain the process and everything she was going to be doing. First, they have you take a quick Physmodo scan which involves doing some squats on a screen and it assesses your mobility, posture, activation, and symmetry. This tells the flexologist the areas that they need to focus on, and they customize each stretch session specifically to your needs. My scans revealed that I was especially tight in my hamstrings, neck, and hips. Then you lay down on the table and they begin to gently stretch your full body. Wow, it felt amazing and I didn't want it to end! It should never be painful and Mackenzie checked in with me often to make sure I was comfortable. It's almost like physical therapy. After my session, they provided me with more info on their memberships and pricing. While I really wanted to commit to a membership, I did have a bit of sticker shock. A single stretch session goes up to $115 each time or a membership is $299/month which includes 4 stretch sessions... basically one per week. I unfortunately just could not justify the cost, but I really did enjoy the experience. They have a $49 special for your first 50-minute intro session and it is 100% worth trying!
