But after reading the reviews on how well this spot handles kids I decided to give them a try. And I must say I'm soo glad I came!!! the guy that greeted me was so nice and attentive (I didn't get his name). I came in as a walk in and waited maybe 15 mins and to me that's not bad at all. Being a woman, walking into a barber shop can be intimidating, but from my first chat w/Lupe, and every cut w/Sergio, all the guys working here have been nothing but professional and welcoming. PLUS great, edgy undercut and f! Very happy to see Lupe, Sergio, and the other guys move up to a new, beautiful, spacious location. Visited The Barber in San Fernando Valley for my first-ever beard trimming. My barber was Jeicel. He is an absolute professional with excellent skills. His knowledge was critical to me because this was the first time I've ever had facial hair since I was in the military for 29 years. So I didn't even know what to ask for. So I brought my wife and with Jeicel's recommendations we had a plan. The result - a smile on my wife's face and I don't feel like an old man anymore. It all is because of Jeicel. He was just outstanding. He was patient with my questions and his service was more than I imagined. The Barber's is relaxing, well lit, clean, great music, and drinks are available in case one is thirsty. I came here for a last minute hair cut and beard trim because my regular barber was booked. I will not name the barber who cut my hair in my review but this is a run down of my experience. I got there about 15 mins early ( I'm never late anywhere) and I was told my Babette wasn't there yet and to wait that I was hit first client so I'll be called once he gets there. I didn't mind because they have a huge waiting area. 9:0 rolls around and still no sign of my barber. Finally 9:05 come and my barber comes in the door. I get seated and my haircut don't start until 9:10, no apologies or excuses. He did a decent job on my haircut but he was pretty heavy handed when it came to the clippers. Overall if you need a haircut and they have appointments, get a cut. I don't see myself leaving my barber for this place but it's decent. read more

My husband and son get their haircuts at The Barber (they will NOT go anywhere else). Isaac cuts my husband's hair either every week or every other week and Sandoval cuts my son's hair. They are flexible with regards to booking appointments and very professional/accommodating to my child (he's 3 years old). The parking is a bit difficult, but we always wind up parking behind Menchie's and it works out well. The owner, Lupe, is kind and professional. Since I've never been here I just booked an appointment with who was available during the time needed through the Booksy app. Roy was the one who I chose and I have nothing but good things to say - professional, attentive, and does a great job. I've been meaning to write a review on this place for awhile, finally getting to it. I was excited to see this place open up a few years ago since I had been a client of theirs when the owner was at another location. This place is much larger and they did a decent job with the aesthetics of a modern barber shop. Now for my review on the actual experience with this place. There were issues w scheduling my appointment online, I can give them a pass it was early on. Though they have a nice reception/waiting area, the people in the place are not very welcoming. No one greets you, understandable I guess since everyone is cutting hair. I had to call out and say I was there for an appointment at which point I still had to wait. Again, understandable, sometimes things run behind schedule. I always get a haircut and beard trim/edge up. I gave it a few tries with a couple of different barbers and we just couldn't connect, their cuts were subpar. I understand you have to build trust and rapport with your barber to get to a comfortable place where it's a good fit and they'll keep you coming back for years. Unfortunately, I never got there with anyone here, most of these guys are not friendly and pretty much mean mug you the whole time. So, not great on customer service either. Someone else mentioned it another review, but definitely not kid friendly I brought my 3 year old and that was a mistake. Sounds like they've cleaned that up a bit in attempt to be more family friendly. I wish these guys well, but definitely wasn't the place for me or my kid. I found someone down the street that does a great job for me and another place up the street that does a great job on my kid! Ladies keep you babies away from this place. We went to trim my baby's front hair that would poke his eyes and when we walked out it was above mid forehead. Not to mention that it looks really bad like they just chopped pieces off. All they had to do was cut the tips not make it extremely short and straight.
