At the Michigan Avenue location, a couple of the instructors are rude. In an interval barre class, I injured my lower back.

I've gone to 2 more classes and yesterday's was with both of my daughters .. which truly made my so happy to have something Right in our community that we can do together . For woman in mid life like me .. modify the exercises , slow them down , stop when you need to ... but keep going . I hurt uh places where I didn't know it was possible .. but I know it's working . Strength and flexibility are the bane of the game at my age and the variety of classes provide just that. Now the staff .. pretty young .. but all super friendly and wonderful . They even let me know that there are more women my age .. at the mid day classes through the week .Location usually has street parking if you're driving , merchandise for sale and facility is always need and clean . Disclaimer: this rating is for the sales experience, not for the actual studio classes/workout…read morespace. I created an account on the Pure Barre website as I am exploring options for studio Barre classes while on pause with my gym/health club membership during July. Over the course of only a few days I have been getting daily calls or texts inquiring about scheduling my free foundations class. I have taken classes on a drop-in basis at other PB locations in the past, however this overzealous selling experience has soured me on even walking through the doors of this location to take a class. Another lesson learned.

Now, Chicago has a great running culture that I participate in daily when I am there, but I decided to try out a couple of workout studios. I found this studio via the official Lagree Pilates website. I have been doing pilates since 2010 but since about 2015 I moved on to commit myself to Lagree Pilates. There is no other workout that has kept me addicted to it's challenges and constant physical improvement. I really feel that Lagree Pilates has improved my marathon times as well. Regardless if you're new or a veteran to Lagree, this studio is a central location in the city. The studio is spotless. I wish I the studio had more light, but that could be only because I am used to my usual Lagree studio in Southern California next to the beach. A big positive about this studio is that the megaformers are newer and therefore, run more smoothly than my usual studio. The floors are well swept and clean -- important because this workout is shoes off. The A/C was just right enough to break a sweat due to the challenging workout. Lastly, I really enjoyed the welcoming customer service. There was also no pressure or upselling involved during my visit. I will definitely return on my next trip back to Chicago.

It's about time I left a review for The Barre Code- I have been raving about this place to my…read morefriends and family ever since I discovered it through ClassPass in August! For the longest time I had told myself I would start some sort of fitness routine but I had never found anything that I enjoyed enough to stick with. I've tried a few barre classes at other studios before finding The Barre Code, which is truly unlike any other studio I've been to, and has motivated me to actually want to work out. My favorite part about The Barre Code is that the classes are held in studios with dim, blue/pink lighting. It makes me feel more comfortable because 1.) it's dark enough to not feel every physical insecurity being perceived by others, 2.) bright enough to still see and focus on yourself, and 3.) it feels almost like a bar/club with the upbeat music and fun lighting, which puts me in a good mood to feel MOTIVATED to move around and do the workout. I have loved every single instructor I have taken here so far, they've all been extremely welcoming and helpful with correcting my form and offering modifications to make the workouts more or less challenging. Bridget, the owner, is also really sweet and I can tell she is passionate about her studio. I also like the variety of classes they offer (I recently tried Brawl for the first time and that was such a drastic change from the Barre classes I'm used to; I look forward to eventually trying Lift+HIIT and Sculpt+Flow as well)! I know this is a super long review but I just wanted to share my experience and encourage others to try a class out at this studio (if a standard Barre class is intimidating, try Barrestore!). I've been returning for 2 months now and could see improvements in my body's physique and stamina during the workouts. 1000/10 would recommend a million times over

(Kari's Rating 7.5/10)…read more TLDR -Up-to-Date equipment -Work from home spaces -Convenient Healthy Market Came with a friend to hang out on a Wednesday around 5:30pm to see what East Bank Club is all about. After seeing all the crazy amenities which were super cool with a ton of variety, I think the thing that surprised me the most is how up-to-date all of the equipment was and the variety of activities they had for people to enjoy. If you're looking for an all encompassing workout/work space, this is it! They have everything from full-size tennis courts, to a golf simulator-like set up,except you get to hit into an inflatable pillow! They also had plenty of Pickleball courts, and they offer so many different workout group classes.both a wet and dry, sauna, and tons of treadmills and free weights. I was also really impressed that they also had a physical training area. So think something that was my personal favorite and the best thing for Chicago Summers is a beautiful rooftop pool and lounge area. Not only did they have two outdoor pools (one for adults and one for kids) but they also have an indoor pool as well for winter as well as an indoor hot tub! They also had a common area workspace where people can come to take meetings and do their work from home gigs. You could practically move in here haha! As of right now, it is a $750 new membership fee as well as $295 a month, which is a pretty hefty chunk of change if you ask me considering most of the high rises around, have some kind of rooftop pool and workout area. It is cheaper if you join with a domestic partner or if you're between the ages of 16 and 29-see pic for current pricing. They also sometimes host social events which is super fun to meet everyone else in the club, but at the same time I think it is more of an investment in your future and your future health if you can afford it! I will not be joining at the moment, but hey-that could change anytime if I decide I should be on a health kick.

Just here to update my previous review. Still a very very good gym in the city (or should I say…read moreclub) - with everything you really could want for an entire day..,.work out? Check. Lunch? Check, swimming, tennis, golf, childcare, the list goes on. You can even get your clothes cleaned and your car washed. One drawback is the price. It is very pricey (with rates going up in 2026).., I don't really want to think about how much more I'm paying since I joined. However, I've easily spent entire days here swimming and working and working out so I guess I can't complain too much. Their spa is also great though it can get busy and in the summer the pool is a total scene (and packed). New locker rooms are underway (men's done and women's getting close) with new features and upgraded lighting and fixtures. Worth it if you don't mind paying for the amenities (and be careful with the house charge account ... it can get surprising!)
