I'm so glad I found this website, because this business needs an honest review: First the good -- it is family owned and their kids are part of the dance classes, so there is a certain safety and quaintness about it. You won't get lost like in some of the bigger studios. The wife is also a beyond amazing choreographer so their recitals are so beautiful to watch and super organized. I absolutely love how the show turns out. Unfortunately it's not all about the end result with business that deal with kids, the "how" is just as important as the final product. Now the room for improvement -- 1) CLEAN UP YOUR BATHROOMS. This is a cheap service. I hire someone at my offices to come twice a week just for bathrooms. You can afford it, and it needs it. It's no wonder everyone here gets sick at the same time; kids are using the bathroom barefoot, and then walking back in to the studios and touching the floors with their hands and bodies dragging up whatever is in those nasty bathrooms. I have forbidden my kid from using them, it is so gross (picture of a corner in their bathrooms; if they told me it never has been deep cleaned since they opened I would believe it. Yuck!) 2). Part of the job of the reception is customer service. I understand she is family, but being good at answering emails or tracking payments is not enough. If you are the face of the business for parents you have to be nice too. I was so embarrassed when I told one of the other parents at my kid's school where they took dance, and right away they told me they pulled their kid out after less than a month for how rude the front desk lady was and she yelled over at their mother in law to tell her where we went, and she right away went on and on about the front desk (the entire family was horrified by the treatment), and I thought yea we all know that, but why do we put up with it?? Fear of retaliation for our kid I guess? because every parent knows and talks about it, but no one will speak up about how absolutely horrible this woman treats everyone (including the kids!). At first I gave her grace, thinking it's probably just cultural -- American's are notoriously over-friendly; but after hearing from everyone, including people who didn't go back after their first year (or one who didn't return after the trial) just because of the front desk attitude. There needs to be a heart to heart in that family. Let her do what she's great at, but your business will never truly thrive without some positivity out front. Parents are nice to her out of politeness or fear but trust me, fear is no way to build loyalty. If it's a cultural thing, remember your business is in the U.S., so adapting is necessary. It's not ok to treat people and kids that way, whether it's email responses or in person responses: be nice. I recognize the parents of a few 5 star reviews, and I can tell you they are bull and only written to suck up because the front desk is horrible, and they know it. You would be better off with a sign that says "just email since we're in class!" and not have anyone there at all. 3) They treat parents like poop. I get they would rather not deal with parents and only work with the kids, but we're a package. As much as you hate the parent side of the business (it's obvious), at the end we are part of it, and we pay for it... have some respect. This past year they pulled the seats out from the parent area where the baby classes were held. I felt so bad for those parents having to stand, because you can't just leave the babies there. Then they closed the curtains during recital season so you can't watch. I get you want it to be a surprise, but anyway we recorded the hip hop dance so they could practice so it's not truly the "surprise" bit - you all want us out. It would be your dream to have all kids dropped off for class and not to deal with any parents (I know for sure it would be the front desk lady's dream), but too bad we're part of the deal and we like to watch our kids -- don't be so cruel about it. Also, remember they are kids and don't remember half of what you tell them, so normalize emailing parents with important info. Don't be so harsh to the parents, that's another sure fire way to limit growth. No one wants to refer their friends if they are going to be treated that way. It might be too late for us because our kids like it, but we don't have to tell others. 4) Be a role model for these kids! My kid came home saying that Mr. Travis said cheerleaders were dum-dums and my mother in law almost had a heart attack. She wanted me to cancel right away. In our house we don't put other sports/people down. Thank goodness I didn't mention what my kid had previously said Ms. Kelly told them about gymnasts. There is no reason to put other disciplines down. You can think dance is the best without knocking down others. The kids learn to be mean this way. This place has soo much potential! I been dancing at the base dance center for 7 years. I love how they teach me how to be a better dancer.

Not a healthy place for young girls. Attitude starts from the top. Female owner is condescending and mean to the kids and parents. Front desk lady is mean to everyone, and has a look of disgust any time you ask a question. Male owner tries to cover and be nice, but nice words from one person can't make up the damage from the others, and kids are perceptive. As a result, many cliques and comparisons. They try to come across as different from other studios, but at the end they aren't. They will put up with any behavior if it's from the customers that pay the most so negative unhealthy attitudes spread. I guess the one thing I'll say is I'm sure this isn't unique, and many studios are exactly the same way, so giving 2 stars because I don't think it's that much more cliquey than the next. I think the one difference here is front desk lady really makes the whole mood of the place unpleasant, so I would rather be at another cliquey studio that at least pretends to be nice. Anyway neither I nor my kid have missed the place, but I felt compelled to write the review when it came up as a suggestion because I care deeply about young girls' self-esteem. Moms and dads when you do any activity be it dance or soccer or music... look at the people they are learning from. Are those the role models you want? My daughter has danced at this studio now going on three years and we love it! The teachers are all well trained, professional and amazing with teaching all levels/ages. They have 3 different studios inside, all with viewing areas. There is a large range of styles offered including competitive dance opportunities. Always have creative choreography and put on a great recital ! Office manager is extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful, plus they have an easy to use app as well! My daughter has shown so much improvement over the past year and has found a great dance community, it feels like our second home. So happy we took the leap to change studios a few years back! read more

Took my three year old to this dance studio, and we loved it. They have a recital at the end of the season that sells out so fast. My baby participated in the combo ballet and jazz classes with Jacki and Whitney. We couldn't be happier with our experience. The only complaint I have is their building is so tiny. So there's little to no viewing room for the toddler class. But it's Vegas.... I'd say that's incredibly common. Real estate here is nuts. We've loved our interactions with all staff including Julie at the front, Travis the owner, and the class teachers. I highly recommend the studio, and we will be signing up for next season read more

The 2 stars are for the classes and the recitals. Travis is a fun teacher and the choreographies are great. BUT Julie, the mother inlaw who sits at the front, is NASTY. I am not one to play a race card (I'm Hispanic) but I can tell this lady is very racist. She has in multiple occasions replied to me in the meanest way possible. I stood in "line" the other day for a good 10 minutes while she was chatting and laughing with one of the other moms and completely ignored me. I had to tell the other lady I had to leave and if I could just pay Julie for the Recital. I only bring my daughter here because she enjoys the classes with Travis and this place is close to my home. But for the love of God Travis, your mother in law shouldn't be the face of your establishment. I think your ratings and success would increase if you had someone nice at the front desk. read more

We have had the worst experiences here. If you're able to chose another dance studio, I would. My 6 year old really wanted to do hip hop. So we tried it here. The first couple classes were fun and she enjoyed it. Then they threw in the recital which we are unable to do so instead of her still being included she and a friend were shoved to the side to watch the class learn the recital. This originally happened with a sub teacher and we thought it was just her and that it would go back to normal next class because Mr. Travis always included our kids. Well turns out we were wrong. Travis proceeded to tell my child I was wrong for being upset that she was on the sidelines and that she should be off to the side if she isn't in the recital. LET THIS BE KNOWN. We paid for a hip hop class so our kids should be learning hip hop. Should other students pay extra for the recital then there should be rehearsals outside of class. But this place cares more about money. The teacher/owner Mr. Travis doesn't care if they know the moves because they aren't part of the recital. They need a better system for their recitals because it isn't fair to those who can't do the recital to miss out. I am not paying for her to stand on the side and do her own thing while the class learns the dance. They should tell you when you sign up that "hey we are doing a recital so they may not be participating as much if they aren't in it." Then I would have totally understood and not been upset. But don't tell my child my feelings were invalid in front of the entire class and embarrass her. Unacceptable. read more

I took my 4 yr old daughter to the Moana class, it was awesome!! Travis (co owner and instructor) was the instructor for the day, and he did such a great job at keeping the attention of 3 and 4 year olds. Allowing them to have fun and learn at the same time. I would definitely recommend this class to parents. I'll be signing my 4, 1" and 12 year old daughters up for ballet next week to help enhance their gymnastics skills. The lady in the front is not the friendliest to say the least. My daughter didn't want to ever go to class as she said the teacher wasn't too nice. It takes patience to teach toddlers as yes they are a handful. I will deff be searching for a better dance studio. Don't waste your time here. I let the receptionist know that I was planning on taking my daughter out of the class and she informed me rudely that I would still have to pay for the next months classes. Classes my daughter wouldn't even be attending. When asked why she said it was their policy. Look, I work with the public daily. The fact that some rinky dink kids dance studio in Las Vegas couldn't cancel our payment or membership for services not rendered is absolutely unacceptable. I was planning on signing my other child up for classes but now I won't be. I have also made sure to let my MANY friends with kids know how unprofessional and stuck up the staff here treated me. read more

My daughter has only been going here for 2 weeks and we already love it. It's spacious enough for all the dancers when all the dancers are out to switch classes and clean! Ms. Julie was very helpful and addressed all my concerns via Facebook and email before I even considered enrolling my daughter. *We used to go to a different dance studio on Blue Diamond but wasn't pleased on how things were done which prompted our search for a new one. read more

Do not bring your young kids to this place. We took our three year old for a class there and the teacher who also happened to be the owner had zero interaction with him other than belittling and criticizing him for not paying attention. He is 3!!! In the end of the class he gave everyone a sticker but our son who was devastated. Called to speak to the teacher and received nothing but a rude response which basically said my kid deserved it as he was not paying attention. So don't pay someone lile that to upset your child. Took my 3 yo to a combo class, when we walked In, there were 2 ladies at the front desk , both looked at us and went back to talking to each other . No greeting whatsoever. Turns out the other lady was the teacher off the class . Did not say anything to me before or after the class was over . The class itself was pretty good , I'm a dance teacher myself . I have had my 2 kids take classes here for a little more than 2 years now. We tried other places nearby but felt like they were all about the money or had classes where a room full of kids just ran around.  One dance studio we went to had the teacher show up 20 minutes late and it didn't seem to be a problem.  The Base has amazing professional teachers who really care about the kids and giving you what you pay for. My kids are actually learning and keep bugging me to do more and more classes. The competition dancers are so talented and everything is so age appropriate.  The organization here is the best.  They know their stuff and give you more than enough info. My husband and I are so impressed with how they have been handling covid. The dancers and teachers all follow the rules and they have kept things going as smooth as possible for the kids. read more

The Base Dance center is AMAZING! I was looking for a school for my daughter who was 9 at the time when we moved here in 2014. Here we are almost 4 years later and I couldn't be happier my daughter has always danced but at the Base she has had unbelievable growth. They teach technique not just how to do one dance for a recital. They have always treated my family with respect and shown us that they value our business. Not to mention they are the most affordable school in the valley! If you want REAL opportunities for your children to excel with no drama this is the perfect school and it's family owned and operated they really get to know your children. Since my original review... my smallest daughter has started taking classes just for fun with mr. Travis who is so great with the little ones. She absolutely adores him and has a total blast! My oldest daughter tried out for the competition team and has flourished and grown so much under this studios instruction. She has been on for two years and I'm blown away by her progress especially since starting dance so late in life. Their choreography and instruction is unmatched in my opinion and super well rounded. They are great in every style versus some other studios (also great studios) that specialize in contemporary or jazz ect. They are family owned and I love the close knit environment they produce here highly recommend it to anyone looking for fun for serious growth! read more

Wow! Time sure does fly. It has been two years since my update. The only thing I would change about my prior reviews is to give them 10 out of 5 stars. My daughter still loves her classes and her teachers. She never danced until starting at The Base, which was less than 4 years ago. She is in her second year with The Base Company and doing very well competitively. More than that, she was just accepted into the LVA Dance Program. That accomplishment would not have happened without the technique taught at The Base. My daughter continues to grow as a dancer and as a hard working young lady with realistic expectations because of the positive influence The Base has had. A sincere thank you to all of her teachers at The Base, to Ms. Julie for all of your assistance and encouraging words and especially to Kelly and Travis for all of your instruction and guidance. read more

I also stopped taking my daughter here because I didn`t like the lady in front, Came on here to read the reviews and it looks like someone has had the same issue. The point of these reviews are for them to be expressed without fear of repercussion but now i see people are calling out other reviewers, completly uncouth. I created a yelp just to review this place; My daughter complained about her and I trust what she says. If someone called me out on a review i`d wait at that dance center for them and confront them in person, his pic is right there lol but I am a knucklehead. Eitherway the instructors got rave reviews from my little one so don't avoid this place but this company should be aware that more than a few people have this compliant which should be addressed because they lost my business. read more

What's wrong with saying hello when you walk in? There were 2 ladies sitting at the front window along with an infant baby. As soon as we walked in to inquire about classes the 2 ladies just stared at us like if we weren't suppose to be there, we said hello and they said NOTHING! We asked for information about the dance studio and they pointed to their PRICE SHEET, really? My daughter wanted to see the class that was in session so we went to the viewing glass and watched for about 5 minutes. So by this time it was my wife, my daughter and myself were really interested in the studio so we asked one more time to inquire about the studio and AGAIN the 2 ladies (both blondes just to clarify they spoke English) looked at us with blank stare. By this point I was speechless and I said "what's wrong with you guys?" They looked at me as if I was weird inquiring about their business establishment. read more

This studio provides quality dance instruction. The teachers are good dancers. They are strict and disciplined with the students. The students are learning how to work hard and achieve results. While I appreciate the structure of a schedule, I am disappointed by my experience with this studio. We joined via Groupon. When we attempted to redeem one of our 10 classes we learned quite a few lessons the hard way. 1. Don't buy a Groupon to this place. The classes go for 12 months. The students learn a routine over that time. They are preparing for a year RF recital. Unfortunately our Groupon purchase was out of sync with the dance calendar. We had to join a course that was more than 3/4 of the way through because our Groupon was allegedly going to expire before the new dance season started up. 2. Joining a course 3/4 of the way through is a terrible idea. The kids all know their moves. They are almost ready to hit the stage. My daughter hasn't been included in any way. No part has been given to her. No attempt to connect her to the group has been made. She has spent four classes on the sidelines trying to figure out moves. Not joking. Tonight I realized the teacher didn't even know her name. There are only 8 kids in the class including mine. He pointed at her because he couldn't remember her name. He addressed her as "YOU". I was actually so excited he addressed her I wasn't put off by the fact he didn't know her name. I mean in all fairness to him, it's easy to forget the name of a student you don't interact with. Right? Well my excitement gave way to disappointment when I realized he wasn't going to teach her anything. He was trying to get her to move out of the way. Not joking. He pointed at her and said move over there. There being the corner. It was pretty funny except that it was my child. So not so funny. 3. The woman at the front desk is very challenging to interact with. She has got to be related to an owner. There's no way she interviewed for the position. There's no way she receives regular reviews or coaching from an objective person. She's unpleasant. Abrasive is probably the right word. She's got difficulty communicating in a pleasant and constructive manner. She's got difficulty managing conflict. Interacting with her is challenging. I think it's possible to enjoy the studio. We picked this place coz the location it's close were we lived .They had a deal for 2 classes for a good price. So we started with 2 classes a week and ended up with 3 classes a week.For the first few months everything went well. Then I started noticing something I didn't like. First of all instructors are not friendly and Julie ( front desk )got attitude, she need customer service training.Travis - instructor / owner is RUDE didn't seems to care if the student is late, he won't let my daughter come in telling my daughter NO CAN'T COME IN, sometimes things happened , she never been late ever that was the first time late. My daughter was crying , sad the rest of the day .Who the hell does that to a 7 year old ? The last time I check we pay for that class not free , so what's the big deal she's late...That part for me was enough to cancel but my daughter wanted to keep going so we did.Then a week ago we decided to cancel the acro class coz she didn't learn back flip that class and Travis teaching the same routine over and over I saw the kids getting bored yawning for real...So we told the rude front desk lady name Julie that she not going that acro class no more but we keep the other 2 classes . And shes argue with my husband that we need to pay the full amount including the other class that we cancel coz she said its company policy , but why would we pay that my daughter no longer going that class at all ? You can't argue with customer , coz you don't know who you dealing with . To make the story short my husband ended up paying the classes and she waived the 1 class that we cancelled . The next day they email my husband that they return the money through mail , and they don't want my daughter to go back there no more.Basically they kicked out my daughter just because my husband was asking them why we would pay the 1 class that my daughter no longer going that class ..Julie is mad that husband checked on her , she used to argue all the parents the same problem gave them atittude and they let that go, well not gonna work with us...One more thing we put money down payment for recital costume now they won't refund us coz they said its non refundable which is BS, if they refund us the 2 classes payment which they mail it, Why can't refund for recital costume deposit, doesn't make sense at all.. To me it seems as this place only motivated by the amount of money they squeeze out of the parents...This place not worth it , this place small and stinks !!! Uh-Maze-ing!!! When I saw the groupon, I thought it would be the perfect chance to get the "dance fever" out of my girls' systems. Boy, was I mistaken! We instantly fell in love! Julie, the office manager is so helpful and inviting. My girls instantly fell in love with their dance instructor, who is incredibly patient with the young ones! We will hopefully be lifers, now! My girls are already talking about all the classes they want to try next. Thank you for making it so easy to love dance! My girls are so happy and that's the most important thing to me!!! read more
