Before doing this review, I read through the majority of the previous reviews. And in my short time…read morethere, I could relate to many of them even though they'e several years old. On my second day there, I realized that this is not a professional staff from Hospital. I looked up online and it's a subcontractor my first gym after high school. Was the pump room in Geneva. That was a 24 hour club back in 1985. And been the norm pretty much ever since not being a 24 hour club cut down on staff, but it still makes it crowded during the times that it is open. The staff seems to be more tuned to, working at a big box store than it does a facility that could have a medical emergencies at any time. Based on the previous reviews, there doesn't seem to be communication of change. I've been a member on and off for several years, and the equipment has not been upgraded. And in some categories, there's just not enough or they don't have a modern version. But it is clean and you don't have to put up, with the strange way some people act now in gyms. So those two are benefits. I just hope that if I do have a medical emergency or somebody that I love it's close enough for the hospital. Because I have zero respect for their ability to act calmly and professionally to an emergency by my experience.

There is a whirlpool, steam, sauna, great locker room. Everyone is friendly and the machines and weights are the best. Medicare reimburses $600 per year. Could not be happier getting about my only 'me' time in at the center. Even has a small cafe. So great. Thanks to all the staff there for being so friendly. A shower hose was leaking and I mentioned it to the front desk it was fixed within 48 hours. Highly recommend.

I have been an Orangetheory member for over two years and it was really disappointing to come to…read morethe Geneva studio and have the experience that I did. I have had numerous classes at studios all across the Chicagoland area, and they have been phenomenal. In this particular instance, I was trying to get a workout in after a really long day and made it just in time to class but because I did not have a credit card to put on file (darn Apple Pay), and so they would not let me in. I understand policy and procedure, but I also understand loyalty and commitment to a studio community and I've been a member for 2 years at orange theory. I feel that I was dismissed, unheard, and especially because this has never been an issue at any other studio, it was quite upsetting. I have always been welcomed with such enthusiastic coaches and support staff, but not at Geneva. Needless to say, I hope the people who attend this facility have a great experience, but I will not be returning. To be quite honest from the moment I walked in I didn't really feel a genuine welcome. but as I do have a vast experience with studios in the Chicagoland area, I do have to give a shout out to the South Barrington studio, because they're amazing, the Rivernorth studio in the city, along with the Streeterville, old town, and Southloop studios are all incredible! So if you have a moment to check those out, please do!! And I will leave you with us, I don't usually leave reviews unless I really feel an injustice or bothered and this is one of those times unfortunately. Again, I commend those who have had a good experience here, but I will not be returning. In a world, where there is so much going on, a little kindness and compassion, and the time to understand goes a really long way.

My review of Orange Therapy Fitness: it's a long one…read more Looks: Visually it's very cool looking. Tinted glass (I think it maybe the lights were so dimmed it looked like it was tinted) showing the work out room. Which had treadmills, rowing machines, weights, benches & TRX bands. It's dark & cold in there. Which I love cause you will sweat. There were 2 TVs that show your HR & burning fat level you wanna be in the orange (which is your fat burning zone). Near the weights area there was another TV where you see the work out that you need to do which is a great reminder. Work out; we split off into 2 groups: we (my g/f & I) started off on the treadmill, there are trainer instructions on the treadmill depending if you a power walker, jogger or runner. There is a chart on the treadmill. I picked jogger. Various speeds & inclines on the treadmill. (Which you control incase it's too much for you) That was a good 30 min work out. Then we swap places. The transition was too quick. I remember my calfs spazing from the treadmill. Thinking please don't get a Charlie horse. We are now at the weights area we are shown the 4 work outs and do 16 reps each then go row for a min (get that cardio back up) then do 12 reps of the weights each, then row again for a minute, then do 8 rep, then row for another min, do 5 reps and row 1 more time. This is done for the next 30 mins. Then it's class over. To me this was easy; I knew what weight to use to challenge myself. My poor g/f was having a hard time figuring out what size weight she should use. So I was assisting her not the trainer. She was confused and was worried about her form again I helped her. Trainer only helped her once on the TRX bands. (She's does not work out like I do). So to a newbie this was confusing and she felt lost. I got it right away. The trainer should have helped the newbies with what weights to use for each work out. After the work out we stretched for what felt like 2 secs. We did a lot during class, I think more stretching afterwards should have been provided/recommended. At the end my g/f talked to the instructor for a long time. He says the work outs change everyday and the "Orange Fitness" gets their work outs from Corp office everyday. So every location did the same work out we just did. PROS: Great variety of work out weights & cardio the atmosphere; dark & cool felt like you were heading into a club. HRM use great idea seeing your heart rate on screen while working out. great for newbies who need motivation classes all day as early at 5:30am and late as 8:00pm 2 showers on location CONS: lack of personal attention or help many people in a class (lil over 20) cost is crazy $$$ (see pics) have to use their HRM, you can bring your own but it doesn't link into their system so you won't see it on the TV screen, then you have to BUY their HRM or rent one. bottom line from some one like me who does weights at night and cardio during lunch & weekends, I felt like it was an okay workout overall. Maybe I'm in better shape than I thought. But I didn't feel like I was dying which is what I was expecting. Yeah maybe I could have tried harder in the treadmill but I was afraid of falling on my ass!! (I maxed out at speed 6.6) (and I did run a 5k during lunch that day) I wasn't too impressed, I would never get a membership there just doesn't seem worth it. But maybe to a newbie to working out it might be.
