I visited this restaurant on a Sunday around 5:30pm. The restaurant has plenty of seats inside and outside on the patio. We were seated instantly. We chose to sit outside on the patio. We were left a bit unsatisfied by the fact that the manager wouldn't allow us to sit at the edge of the patio facing the lakefront because it was for a table of 4, even though there were four other empty tables. The restaurant was quiet and there were already two other parties of two sitting near the front already. Literally 10 minutes later, they seated another party of 2 in the same section. So I'm unsure why they couldn't accommodate to my request of party of 2... Besides that point, the food was pretty good. We ordered: - Chicken parmesan sandwich w/ fries ($22) - Steak sandwich w/ sweet potato fries ($28) Both dishes came out pretty fast. Both sandwiches were good and the fries were super crispy. Lots of parking outside the restaurant. Lots of menu items. The servers were nice and attentive. Overall, the manager incident rubbed me the wrong way, but the food made up the experience. read more

A group of car enthusiasts did our annual drive to this restaurant yesterday. I have to say that the service was excellent, the menu quite extensive and the food was quite good. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, until the bill came. Though there was a large group of us, we were NOT seated as a group and in fact arrived at various times. I sat at a table for 4 with several people I know, totally separated from any of the other patrons (or our other car "group" people). So imagine my surprise when the bill arrives and there's an additional 18% charge (not shown as a tip) on the bill. One of the other people at our table didn't notice this and gave a substantial tip on top of the bill total. I noticed and asked what this 18% charge was... the answer is that because we were part of the "group" we were being charge a mandatory 18% tip. I'm sorry but this is not right. We were NOT part of a large party, we were not seated as a group... we were a table of 4. We got our order taken separately, it was prepared separately, and it was served separately. We were not informed prior to eating that we would be charged this mandatory gratuity, nor was there any offer to remove it when I questioned it. The humorous part, for me, was that because everything had been so good I was intending to tip the waitress much more than the 18%, however, given the sour taste this left in my mouth I added nothing to the 18%, paid it... and frankly will never visit this establishment again (though in previous years I regularly eat there numerous times over the summer). Very foolish move to management for doing this. read more

Terrible management and disappointing experience. We had made a reservation specifically requesting a table on the patio, near or at the railing, as we wanted to avoid sitting under the covered area. However, when we arrived, we were seated exactly where we didn't want to be--under the covered area. We politely asked to be moved and mentioned our prior phone conversation when we made the reservation. The server said she'd check, but then the manager (or whoever he is) came out and dismissed us, claiming no one could reserve specific tables on the patio. When we pointed out several empty tables and asked if we could move, he flat-out refused. It felt like those tables were being saved for his friends or VIPs. Frustrated, we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. The manager showed no concern that we were leaving and was completely indifferent when we told him we wouldn't be returning. So far, we've kept that promise. Yes, this restaurant is busy in the summer thanks to its patio with stunning waterfront views, but that's where the appeal ends. The food is mediocre, the drinks are overpriced, and the interior is dark and dreary. It's a shame such a prime location is so poorly managed. read more

Friday night (before the 28 days province wide lockdown) I was looking for a lake view restaurant and found this place 1 hr north of Toronto. Food taste very good. Portions are huge. One of the staff jokingly told us that we don't like our food because we cleaned it. Everyone follows protocol, social distancing , disinfectants, and capacity. The weather still cold so their patio is not operational. The restaurant is facing lake simcoe and definitely coming back this summer when it opens up. Lots of parking. read more

Had the WORST customer service experience ever in the 30 years I've lived in Keswick at The Beach restaurant on Lake Drive. We had made 5:30 reservations for 3 on the patio. The service and food, especially with the new owners, has always been very pleasant - not this time. We arrived to a surly male host (that's ok everyone has bad days) and we were seated by a lovely dark haired girl in a new patio section of the restaurant. Umbrellas didn't shade and there were tons of wasps in this particular area (the other patrons were openly complaining about the wasps), so we asked to be seated on the main patio where there were 4 tables available. Our server (a different young girl from the one that had seated us) went and checked w the host and we were moved to another table in the main section. Here's where the confusion starts. As we were leaving the table for the new one, the young first server, with unmistakable attitude, said "enjoy the rest of your MEAL" to which I apologized. Our NEW server (an older lady), came to tell us after we were seated, that we may have to switch tables as these were reserved. I had said there were 4 EMPTY tables and if they couldn't accommodate us on the main patio (putting us back with the wasps) that we would be happy to dine elsewhere. NICELY, calmly. Not mad or upset, just wanted to have a pleasant dining experience. Let me remind you, we HAD reservations and not for a specific table, they don't do that there. The server went to get our drink order from the other table, we watched her come back, enter the restaurant, then proceed to come to our table, (the patio was busy) and in an openly loud voice said we were welcome to dine elsewhere as the OWNER had told her that there is zero tolerance for abuse of the staff - and kept repeating it as we got up to leave. Funny, when we went to talk to the owner, he seemed to have NO IDEA what had happened but the HOST had quickly turned away when we approached. There was NO abuse, nothing untoward said to any of the servers or host, and we were more than confused at what had happened. Having been in customer service for YEARS up here and touted this restaurant as being one of the best in keswick, i was flabbergasted to say the least as to what had happened. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant until they get servers who know how to treat their customers and don't get pissed off and cause a scene because they lost a table in their section. Had a pretty mediocre dining experience at The Beach Lakefront Bar & Grill. Service: 1/5 My friend left a pretty detailed review of our poor experience on Google, but in summation, the service was very poor. The table we had previously reserved wasn't ready when we arrived, they sat us at another table "in the meantime" after waiting 15 minutes, and when the other group left, they refused to switch us back to our original table. When we brought up these concerns, the waitress who said she is "sorta the manager" laughed off our concerns and cracked jokes with the staff. Food: 3/5 The food is decently priced and coupled with a good sunset view, I get why people come here. The food has huge portions, but in terms of taste, it's pretty mediocre. We got the crab mac and cheese, and the jerk chicken pasta. The crab mac and cheese hardly had any crab in it (or crab flavour), and the jerk chicken pasta tasted more like peppers more than anything. I was so excited to come to try this place but I'm sad to say the service really ruins the experience. read more

Do you ever return to a restaurant and ask yourself, what ever were they thinking as you browse at the recent changes to the menu? That is what happened during our last visit to Orchard Beach or OB as the locals would call it. OB is a middle of the road pub with the tremendous benefit of an amazing patio near the water. However, their beer selection is minimal at best, don't get me going on their pitiful attempt at a made from-concentrate Cider (all Cider drinkers know who we are referring to), and the food comes and goes with quality. That was to say, until I found the recently discontinued "Mexican Burger" on my second to last visit - sliced avocado, red onions, beef patty, salsa, two cheese blend, jalapeños, tomato, and lettuce. Presentation 9/10 although quality 6/10. I admit, for my local, I was impressed by the presentation of this burger (see pic). I almost choose the #widdowmaker that has two patties and onion rings buried between two buns however the burger quality here is poor so would have felt like I was eating two bricks. With OB fashion, the burger was over cooked, charred and dry. Fortunately, the rest of the burger was fresh and flavourful to mask the taste. Don't get me going on desert. $8 for a gross over microwaved Apple Blossom that had 4 dabs of whip cream. We wanted ice cream on the side, another $4. UGG $12 of nastyness. Overall as the patty has zero juice and flavour I adore this meal a 6/10 however the rest of the burger was a saving grace. OB, you had such potential with the Mexican Burger - why oh why do you need to continue to disappoint. However, as I opened this review - your patio rocks, so I'll be back, as I always do -- yet equally as critical, with high hopes I will be floored on my next visit. read more

what a hidden gem! looks like a house turned into a little pub. patio seating is beautiful! It faces lake Simcoe so I imagine it would be an absolutely beautiful place to watch the sunset on the water! Robin was our server this afternoon and she was absolutely amazing! to be fair, all the staff I interacted with were very friendly and really made us feel welcome. the food was also really good! they have a surprisingly long menu with lots of options for apps, salad, sandwiches, entres, burgers and pasta. our table ordered the steak and fries with side salads, the salmon entre, the Philip burger (picture posted) and the beach club (also pictured). seating is nice as well, I'd say all if not most of the tables have an umbrella which is nice on those extra sunny days. only downside and I'm sure it's only due to covid restrictions is the 90 min seating time, felt a little rushed especially since we had a senior with us who was quite a slow eater. service: 5 stars food: 4.5 stars ambiance: 5 stars read more

The owner/proprietor of Father's Moustache in Aurora has taken over this gem location and other than a couple of new additions the menu is Father's Moustache. We were here earlier in the summer but it was so slammed and the staff were so far in the weeds that I didn't have the heart to review them, so I waited for things to settle down; unfortunately the lack of proper front of the house training is still evident. Although it was a beautiful September day, and the "tourists" and weekenders were gone for the most part, it was still a fairly busy day - not crazy busy but decent turnover, sadly the service wasn't on point. We finished an entire pitcher of beer before our lunch made it to the table- it was clear that our server had forgotten about us. Food was good though, fresh and tasty and truly it's hard to be miffed when the view is so chill! Food was ok, service was disappointing. They had few people and the waitress kept running away as if she was constantly busy. Today wings were half price, with no other restrictions written on the menu, and then I was told that my wings don't come with fries during the promotion. Wings on the menu are listed with fries at $12.99 which means if no other restrictions are indicated, I should have received that meal at 50% off. I only got the wings. And got charged $6.50. When I asked the waitress she informed me that they have had this complaint before and the owner won't do anything about it. Very disappointed. read more

I heard from my local Keswick bretherin about this place with some good reviews about the patio. I decided to give it a shot............ Plenty of parking. inside of it is extremely dark and smells moldy. If you did not order alcohol and did not sit on the patio you were basically ignored inside as we were for 15minutes sitting there. We had to go ask for someone to serve us. I agree with some of the reviews posted here that the Patio was a very nice open concept and a good view however they are in Wasp CENTRAL! Wasp being the insect that flies not the people. Take note, it you are a non smoker the patio is completely useless as there is no way to get away from the smoke. Yes there seemed to be a huge abundance of food. My family were salivating over the choices flying past our sensory glands. The menu showed several mouth watering items. Each of my family ordered a signature dish from their menu. If "Bar Rescue" came in to survey this place people would had been shut down the place as an internal disaster. We decided to give the food a chance......... yeah the food........ it was hot, over cooked and tasteless..... any cook can make fish and chips...... how do you burn it and send it out for consumption? Any cook can make nachos........ REALLY?????? HOW CAN YOU SCREW UP NACHOS? they found a way. They don't tell you that certain pop has no refills. French onion soup????? REALLY????? The food was fine. Not fantastic, but not bad. I had a burger and my husband had the Brisket Poutine. There is a varied selection, too. The prices, however, were not justified for the quality. And the appetizer of garlic bread was nearly $10 for $5 worth of bread. The staff was very friendly and personable. They are, besides the amazing view, the best part of the restaurant. My husband and I were particularly annoyed that they did not accept debit, however. It is, after all, a legitimate restaurant. The only reason I can think of why the establishment did NOT take debit is that there was an ATM in the building that the owner also owned (we confirmed this information). So, he's hoping to not only skip debit fees but make money off his patrons if they need to use debit. I do not like this kind of business practice. read more

We have been here a few times, once as a couple and once with a large group, and it was fantastic both times! The new menu is amazing! Everything tastes great and we had no complaints from a large group of people. The food is made to order, therefore it takes a long time, but while you wait you can enjoy a drink and look out onto the lake from the great patio. The views are great and there's plenty of shade! While a sports bar at first glance this place has two things that separate it from your average pub: 1 - Great food made in house 2 - An AMAZING patio culture Was surprised when we moved here and were looking for the new "watering hole". Came into a simple pub like atmosphere and were very happy wit the food. The chef makes the lost of the local suppliers and generally does a wonderful spin on regular pub fare. The patio is now at least as big as the indoor seating. With a beautiful view of Lake Simcoe and the perfect angle to catch the lake breezes, one can quickly lose oneself for hours just sipping your favourite drink and chatting with friends. This patio is where I decompress whenever I can in summer. You just cant hang onto any stress sitting on that vast expanse of deck. The ample bar inside is high and wide, and for barfly's like me is perfect for talking with the super friendly staff and have a pint with lunch. There is always someone to talk to and rehash last nights game. Weekends bring lots of action, from live bands of every flavour (John Tanners Acoustic On Fire being one of the most impressive) and event on the lawn. In the summer months you can sometimes find a lawn full of exotic cars, and in winter quite often it is loaded with snowmobiles, stopped in for a warm-up and a hearty meal. Those shelves you see are not empty of books, but are empty of sled helmets in the summer :D read more

Located on the sunny shores of Lake Simcoe in the quiet residential area of Orchard Beach (Keswick) this local treasure can be enjoyed by all. Service is always speedy and efficient and I've never had a meal that I didn't like. My last lunch was fish and chips and was enough for two (although I did manage to almost clean the plate.) Portion sizes are always generous. Daily specials are listed on the menu board beside the entrance door (accessed from the parking lot at the back). Decor is retro chunky wooden tables and chairs last seen in the 70s, but they're nostalgic for some of us and always clean. Make sure to try the patio during the warm summer months. Get there early on Fridays and Saturdays because this place is popular and you might have to wait. read more

BREAKFAST REVIEW: I've been going to Orchard Beach for their amazing patio for years, but upon hearing that they had recently started doing breakfast, I had to check it out. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely incredible. If you can get anything with the delicious caramelized peach/grand marnier compote, I would 100% recommend it. The service was incredible, and even the breakfast sausages were the best I've ever had. I went this past Sunday (June 2, 2019) and all I can think about is how much I am looking forward to going back this weekend! Very well done to the new owners. A good stop for lunch to hide from the rain this past World Cup weekend after hanging out at Keswick Beach. The menu items looked delicious. Many different options for snacks like onion rings, potato skins. salads. burgers. pasta. comfort food. It could be the dietary restrictions talking but I was missing bread and cheese and wishing I could eat off this menu. They have many tv screens, and a big projector one at the back of the room. The staff was friendly and quite pretty too. The crowd is pretty local. We had a good time here despite the lightening striking the tree outside. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Don't know where to begin. I was at this restaurant this past summer as part of a larger charity event. I could NOT believe how incredibly RUDE the Owner/Manager of this establishment is. He literally just stood there just pointing and yelling at his staff like a school yard bully. When the organizers of the event were wrapping up, and tried to thank him for having them, he shrugged his shoulders and actually told them that "this is nothing, we have a BIGGER event next week" and proceeded to BRAG about all the "so called" events he hosts that were WAY more important than the one I was at. I stood there overhearing this with my mouth open. Felt so bad for the charity group. He was so unappreciative of all the 70 people they brought in! He didn't even shake their hand and thank them, no eye contact. Dude needs a lesson in social graces. With an ego that big, the food should have been amazing. It wasn't worth the drive. I had the chicken skewers with salad. Meh. It was "ok". My bf ordered the quesadillas and they were soggy and gross. The restaurant's only saving grace is the excellent staff who were constantly apologizing on his behalf. Don't know how he retains the staff, hope the pay is good. Nice view though, especially on a warm summer night. Bring a camping chair and just sit on the grass, don't bother going in! Bring a picnic! read more

This is my favourite Restaurant in keswick! The prices are mid-range but it's worth it. The amazing waiters/waitresses are super friendly the ribs and fries were amazingly delicious! I go once in a blue moon. But every time I'm exited to sit on the balcony facing the lake with other guest glazing at the sun shinning onto the clear blue water of Lake Simcoe waiting for the delicious food. I recommend going to this joint! For some food to die for! read more

Keswick. Old school Keswick. That is what this place is. If you do not know what that means, do not go attend this establishment searching for fine cuisine or a politically correct and high end dining experience. The patio and outside area is what you come here for. There is no other reason to be in a Keswick bar than to have a few drinks and enjoy the beautiful unobstructed view of the water. And this place is the best one in the area for that. The patio is large, has many seats and is generally well kept. If there are bugs outside and that bothers you, then go to another bar or restaurant to sit inside. If you are coming to an old school Keswick bar restaurant and expecting amazing food then you are the problem. The food is edible, fair priced, basic pub food. You are not going to brag about it. You are going to eat it when you are hungry after a few pints of beer while enjoying the view. The servers do their job, a few of them can be listed as cute, you can have a good time here. I go a few times a year for the patio, a couple drinks and to catch up with old friends while soaking up the sun over the water. I hope it never closes but I also do not recommend it for the food. I had occasion to meet the new owner in a professional setting a few days ago.He was the most rude, arrogant man I have met in a long time. I have no idea what the restaurant is like, but having met the owner, I will never go there. AWFUL. DO NOT EAT HERE! The owner was so rude. Need reservations to get a table on the patio, he sat us at a table of 6 in the corner, we were 2 people, I asked if we could switch to a smaller table up front, there were several empty tables on the patios, and he yelled "do you want this table or not". The food was terrible, beyond terrible, the coconut shrimp tasted like rubber, over cooked. The mix green salad was old, and tasted like it had been sitting out, definitely not fresh. We also got the quesadillas, and they brought us CINEPLEX salsa. The salsa packets they give out at the cinema. It was unbelievable. The only good thing about this restaurant was the patio view. I have never had such a bad experience in my life. Recommend you just go to the lake to the enjoy the water Instead. The owner was so rude, even the wait staff were aware of this, they apologized to us for his behaviour. Awful food, even worse service, people only come here for the view. read more

I have gone here too often. That is my bad, because I complain every time. The Servers have always been nice, but way too slow. It is known for how slow it is, probably because it is understaffed. Tonight's dinner was undersized wings at $15/lb. I gave up after five because it wasn't worth messing up my hands to nibble on crappy, tiny wings. A peanut butter sandwich at home did the trick. It is the owner, who until very recently just allowed you to pay by debit. Instead, of having to take out money from his ATM, with a fee that he took a cut of.
