I had hoped to come back to Beauty Bark to give it another try after our current amazing groomer decided to discontinue his mobile side of the business. Prior to last March, our dog was returned to us with a bleeding tail (at the base), some issues being able to walk (crying) after the appointment for a couple days following due to standing for long periods of time, and some uneven cuts (pictured above) which I amounted to the new management just getting their feet wet and installed into this business. We had such amazing experiences prior to these incidents, we wanted to keep giving them a chance to improve. Once our dog was there for close to 8 hours, we sought out another groomer (which was the last time we were there). I called in last week and requested an appointment and was hung up on. I tried calling back and no answer. Fast forward to today, I tried to schedule something and learned we've been black listed due to "notes from upper management." According to the manager on duty that answered the call, we had numerous incidents of "rushing the groomer" which was really shocking. In the times we'd brought our dog in, we used to receive updates from the groomer if it was going to be longer than a few hours (four hours max). In the last few times, we never received updates so I would call in to check and see when our dog would be done. It was always difficult to plan around due to my work schedule and wanting to pick him up as there's a charge to keep him there past a certain amount of time. The last time he was there for, I want to say, eight hours (maybe 9:15-close) with no calls or anything. I called in a couple time that day and was a bit upset (no yelling or anything-- I'm no Karen... Sorry to any Karens reading this) simply due to not being given an opportunity to come in and give our dog more meds for his legs (in the past the groomers said he was standing for a really long time so that's why he was hurting the following days). According to the manager on duty today, "there were numerous well documented incidents that happened," although he wouldn't mention what they were. All in all, the turnover here has always been rough and while there may be sole great groomers here from time to time, it's probably best to look elsewhere. The male manager that's typically there is quite rude and super testy. Just overall disappointed as this place was so so great when we first moved to Denver a few years ago. Tatiana was scheduled to groom my 65 pound sheepadoodle from 11-2. At 2:15 I called for an update and she asked for another hour with him. I said no, and immediately went to pick him up. Upon arrival he was still wet and had only been bathed. I would love to know what actually happened in those three hours. The beauty Bark: do you have video recording for yesterday; I'd love to see it. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with this place, but we decided to today that we won't be returning. The first time we went under the new ownership, our dog was there for 8 hours and had to stay past close. I think that's a bit inhumane in retrospect. Two cuts ago his fur was cut unevenly and very short. Today we went and we got a call that they had to muzzle our dog because he had bit the groomer "hard." Our dog has been groomed every 8 weeks for 9 years and I have never had a groomer tell me this. When we questioned the muzzle, they said "well it's common for groomers to do that." Well, if it's common, then why call us and say you did it? My intuition says this: this place is horribly understaffed and the employees are very likely poorly paid. Poor management. Poor training. *She partially shaved our dog and quit!* We recently moved to the area and had to find a new dog groomer for our 14 year old wheaten terrier. We chose Beauty Bark based on the yelp reviews, but made the mistake of not sorting them to see the most recent (terrible) reviews. We got in touch with Kelly and explained our dog's quirks and waited nearly four weeks for an appointment (which we know is not unusual). About 10 minutes after we dropped him off, Kelly called us back to say we needed to come get him because she couldn't groom him. She said she had a bad back and wasn't "willing to risk my health to groom your dog" because he was "dancing around the grooming table." Of course, we don't want anyone to risk their health, but this was a complete surprise considering he's 14 years old, weighs less than 30 pounds, was even on Trazadone to relax him, and we've never had another problem with groomers over the last 14 years. Just moved to denver and was looking for a new place to get the dogs groomed. Very glad I found this place I ended up giving them a call and scheduled an appointment! The entire process was very smooth and they where so friendly especially to the dogs they made them feel comfortable, dropped them off came back two hours later and BOOM dogs looking good as new probably the best cut my miniature schnauzer has had so far! As far as pricing this place is a little more expensive coming in at $156 for both dogs that's with a 20% tip included, but I would say it's 100% worth it and having the peace of mind. Our dogs love coming here! They love the whole experience--they know their groomer and wag their tails when we arrive. We take photos on their grooming days because they look so amazing afterwards. Our groomer is skillful , caring and compassionate. The groomers have years of experience, including working with pups for dog shows. The staff are incredibly kind. read more

Wanted to support a local business, but they can't seem to get it together, Our dog's last cut was so uneven and poorly done on her face - we fixed it ourselves. The rest of her body was totally fine. Prices have gone up multiple times and they also charge $5 for credit cards. We do not feel comfortable spending $120 on grooming our 35lb dog that we have to fix ourselves. Between the cut, constantly changing staff (we have had 3 groomers in a year), how long Beauty Bark keeps our dogs for (a grooming sessions last about ~7 hours every time we have taken her in - they work on multiple dogs at a time which we never experience at other groomers), we left to find another groomer. I called to ask a few questions, Kelly (the owner) answered and immediately came off very rude, I ignored the hostility and began to ask a question about their services when she rudely interrupted to to say " I don't know what the F**K your talking about!" I was out in Denver for a while, helping take care of my elderly uncle. He has 2 beautiful puppies that needed to be groomed. So he called and made an appt. We dropped off his pups, and were excited to come pick them up. Upon arriving, we heard Kelly in the back yelling, and a big bang (I was assuming something dropped). Not paying any mind to it we got the pups and as we were walking out we were looking over them just to realize that both dogs eyes were covered in goo, and were absolutely not like that when we brought them in we got the pups to the car and looked over more thoroughly and were extremely disappointed to find 2 good sized cuts on one of the pups, and they were both acting very skittish which really upsets me cause these puppies have been to 2 other groomers and we have never had this problem. Don't know if Kelly was just having a bad day, but I will tell you it's not okay to take it out on a helpless animal.... read more

I dropped my dog off at 10am and told them puppy cut. He was not matted as I brushed him ever other day and literally again before I brought him in before the appointment. I spent time letting his hair grow out enough to get the correct cut. When they called me to let me he was done (5 hours later) it looked like they just took a #2 clippers to him and charged me 90.00. I literally could have done this job at home. My dog was here for 4.5 HOURS for a full groom, and WAS NOT BATHED whatsoever. I paid $120 for her to sit in a kennel with other dogs and only receive face trim and sloppy body cut - no bath or brush. However, Zenys of management is GREAT and did everything he could to make up for it. We received a full refund and were offered a free bath as well. A very poor situation was made much better by great management, and for that we are appreciative! read more

Been coming here for over 2 years...Kelly has been phenomenal with our greyhound. He still doesnt like going in but his grooming is always up to snuff and our pooch comes home smelling clean and fresh. She even throws in a free nail trim if we are too far between grooming sessions. Highly recommended! We consciously made a decision many years ago never to take out dogs here. Mostly due to the rudeness of the prior owner and groomer. Friends in the neighborhood recently took their Shih Tzu to Beauty Bark and his private area was shaved so closely the skin is pink with razor burn and the dog's behavior is now changed. The owners of the dog had to take the him to the veterinarian and it cost $200. Dogs here are not in cages and are allowed to roam free which can be a frightening experience for a small or a shy dog. read more

I was excited to find a groomer nearby accepting clients. However, I had nothing but problems with scheduling. Kelly, the owner, has many personal issues that always got in the way of actually grooming dogs. She did a great job grooming them the 2 times she actually followed through with the appointments. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt at first but it became unbearable and my dogs desperately needed grooming. She canceled 6 times and had many reasons, some of which could have been legitimate. However, at some point the inconsistency wasn't worth it and I began to doubt how one person could have so many reasons to cancel and yet still be able to run a legitimate business. Several friends also shared negative experiences as well. I really hope Kelly can pull herself together to run this business. I think she could be amazing. read more

Used to be great but has slowly declined over the past two years. Sadly, I used to love taking my dog here but over the past two years the experience has really declined. Most appointments (at least 75%) have been canceled on the day of, due to various emergencies or just "running late". The last appt. was rescheduled THREE TIMES and after the 3rd cancellation, I've received no apology or communication to reschedule. Waiting an extra month for a cut, my dog's hair is getting matted and she's not enjoying the summer heat. Meanwhile, getting into a new groomer who is qualified for certain breeds requires another 4-5 week wait. Sorry, but if you aren't dependable and can't keep appointments, you'll eventually lose loyal customers. read more

I have a kitty that has fur so long it grows between her toes. It's so long that even though she's self-grooming for 98% of the time she's awake (and let's be honest that's like 6 hours a day max, right?) we still need a little help. So, I turned to Yelp to find a groomer near us and The Beauty Bark came up. Initially I was concerned about taking a cat (meow) to a place called the Beauty Bark, but they have special times marked off for cats and do a really wonderful job with them. So far I have taken our kitty (Bon Ami) a handful of times and she is in and out in about 20 minutes with less hair and more happiness. We now do monthly appointments with her and it's well worth it to have such a luxurious and de-tangled cat. If you are in need of a groomer I would easily recommend Beauty Bark. I booked a grooming appointment about two weeks in advance. When I showed up, the lights were on, but no one was home. The door was also locked, as dropoffs were curbside-only. I knocked on the door many times and repeatedly called the business number, but no one answered and the voicemail box was full. Finally, someone from a neighboring business graciously offered to text the Beauty Bark's owner, Kelly, to let her know that we were waiting outside. Kelly apparently texted her back and said she had tried calling and texting me to let me know that another client had brought in lice, so the office was closed. I never received any calls or texts -- and still didn't even after I gave the neighbor my number to verify that Kelly had the correct number to contact me. In all, my dog and I waited outside for about 30 minutes until I gave up. Days later, this business still hasn't reached out with an attempt to reschedule. How bizarre. read more

I like Zed shaggy. It suits him. However, due to some sort of breed thing, his hair just grows and grows, so at some point, the hair (it's more like hair than fur) needs to be cut so it doesn't get all matted. Getting a moderate cut always looks goofy, so about 3 times a year, I just shave it all off and go from scratch. It was time for one of those clean starts. I read a lot of really positive reviews about this place and they were all true. Zed looks great. He's prancing a little more today (I mean, he always prances) and feels so soft and smells great. I better enjoy it while it lasts. I really love the free range the animals have while the dogs are there. I think when they can feel free to explore their surroundings, there's a lot less anxiety about getting up on the grooming table. We've used The Beauty Bark approximately three times. We have two dogs: a brussels griffon and a bichon mix and a standard poodle. This most recent interaction has me concerned to the safety of any other animal groomed by this company and its groomers. During the most recent grooming session, the groomer caused a corneal ulcer to one eye and a laceration to her other eye. At the time of pickup, the groomers reported that the griffichon began scratching at her eyes during the session and they felt as though something had gotten into her eyes. They recommended that I pick up eye drops for her to help clear out what had gotten into her eye. My dog could not keep one eye open at all and was squinting with the other eye. I advised them that she would see a vet on Monday, and we would take her to the emergency room sooner if needed, because I was concerned that she was not able to keep her eye open at all. My husband and I agreed to wait until Tuesday morning to see if she was able to open her eye operating under the possibility of something getting in her eye. Unfortunately, she could still not open her eye and it had been so irritated it had developed a crust. She was taken to the emergency vet where she was diagnosed with the injuries noted above. After contacting the groomers to make them aware of the injuries and request a refund for her service to cover the cost of the emergency vet visit that we had to pursue due to the injuries they refused the refund and claimed that the injuries she obtained were due to her having debris and long hair near her eyes. My husband and I had to cut the hair around her eyes back prior to the appointment because of the duration between this appointment and the last appointment because of the groomers lack of availability over halloween. A corneal ulcer is not caused by debris or long hair; rather, it is caused by trauma, sharp objects, or irritating chemicals, such as shampoo, getting into the eye. Their claim also does not provide reasoning as to why her other eye had a laceration. The emergency vet believes that the injuries she sustained were likely tied to the blow dryer or the shampoo they used. The groomer denies that information and cited previous notes where they noted her eye was irritated at the last session. Unfortunately, the last session where they noted this was due to the cutting off a skin tag that was near her eye. We had to have our vet see her for that incident too. Since that tag was black and she has black hair we tried to be understanding that this was a complete accident, now I'm not so sure it was an accident and that it could result from careless negligence. I work from home. I'm around my pets all day. My husband and I were both around the dog prior to the groomer visit and never observed her to be scratching at her eyes before she was dropped off for this appointment. The groomer claims that she was scratching at her eyes before they began grooming her. If that's the case, why didn't they call us to let us know that they were concerned that she was injured? If you feel that the dog has been injured before you started the service, you should immediately notify the owner about the concerns...not continue with the service and put yourself at risk for being held responsible. At this point, I'm concerned about the safety of my pets with these groomers. They have no accountability and I do not like spending my money with dishonest people or companies. I'm sorry that this happened. I'm hopeful that my dog has not suffered irreparable damage to her eyes. I am concerned about the validity of the company having general liability insurance for these exact instances in which a dog becomes injured while in their care. They won't get my business back, and I hope that potential and current customers have second thoughts. Finding a groomer in Denver with availability can be exceptionally challenging. These people are not a groomer I would ever trust. read more

Heather does such an amazing job on my shih-tzu. Lola always walks in a rag muffing and out a show dog! Heather only does one dog at a time, so she's always done within an hour or so and I know my dog isn't sitting in a kennel drying or waiting while she's servicing another dog. Lola is always happy when I pick her up so I know Heather takes great care of her while she's there. read more

I'd like to have had the opportunity to rank this place higher as most people seem to like it but unfortunately I didnt have a great experience. They book a long ways out (I realize this is not their fault) but when the day came the groomer text to say she was ill and couldn't keep the appointment. Again, I'm a reasonable person, I understand people get sick, and she was very helpful in letting me know she would rebook me as soon as possible. At this point it has now been a while for my dog to not be able to get to a groomers and as a long haired dog she was getting some matted spots. These were nothing other groomers haven't been able to handle. I, personally was unable to bring her in for her rebooked appointment so my husband brought her in he was told the only thing they could do was shave our entire dog She is over 100 pound long haired dog and this would've looked ridiculous let alone was completely unnecessary. Shaving or cutting some of the matted areas behind her legs or on her stomach would've been totally acceptable to me but for some reason she claimed this was not possible. Occasionally we hire a mobile dog washer and a week later I was able to have him come and wash her and brush her out in one hours time and just cut of some of the mats without any issue. So I'm not sure what the issue was here. I guess they just didn't want to put in the work? Very strange. read more

We love Kelly!! There is no one else I would trust to groom my pets. I once got there early to pick up my two corgis and watched as she trimmed their nails and fur on their paws (my girls have sensitive paws) and when the got a little scared she just loved them up and gave them kisses. She didn't get frustrated with them like other groomers have. My dogs always come back looking and smelling great and best of all, they shed less after a visit to the Beauty Bark. Kelly truly loves the dogs she works with and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a place to take your pet to be groomed. She loves all her dogs as if they were her own. We have two maltipoos and one of them is anxious. What impresses me about Beauty Bark is that it is quiet and Kelly knows how to calm dogs that are nervous. She has that special sense about a dog's needs that talented groomers who love dogs have. There is rarely more than 3 dogs in the facility and there's plenty of room. That makes a huge difference. And the grooming is the best that my dogs have received. I'm a big fan. read more

My shih tzu is a rescue and has some stress/trauma around grooming. He has gone to another groomer and it did not go well. I called Kelly and was upfront about everything, and she was so nice and so positive about everything. She texted me the day before to confirm the appt and then text me while she was grooming Theo to tell me that he was doing great! When I came to pick him up he was happy as can be - the total opposite of how he was after I picked him up with the old groomer. Kelly is so sweet and patient. She told me he was completely fine and didn't seem to have any trauma at all, just the usual trepidation most dogs have. She made me and my dog feel so much better!
