I have never gotten a lash lift before, but wanted to try it out! this location is right in downtown Clarendon. there is parallel street parking which you have to pay for. I came at 5 PM on a Sunday and I had a bit of trouble finding parking... although I am a picky parallel parker! they were accommodating about me being a couple minutes late. The store is bright and clean. the lash area is very open - you are not in a private room so everyone can hear / see everyone. my service was with taja and she was very sweet and gentle. she asked me if i wanted more dramatic or natural and i said dramatic. so far I think the results look amazing!! The real test will be how long it lasts, but I'm determined to take good care of it. They explain all the aftercare and give you a little goodie bag. I would definitely come back!!! read more

I visited this establishment for the first time yesterday for a brow lamination appointment, which unfortunately left me with open wounds from the chemicals. After the procedure, my technician said that I had "skin dryness" that messed up the brow tint. She assured me that it would resolve itself, and that at my next appointment, I could just receive a scrub first to take off the dead skin so that the tint would go on better. However, when I got home, I realized my skin was actually burned through and raw. I sent them a message on Instagram about this (along with a photo), and they said they would refund the $160 I paid (including tip). However, I am sharing my experience here so others know that getting burns is a possibility. read more

This place is for women with thin eyebrows that want to make their eyebrows thicker. Not for women with thick eyebrows that want to get a bomb shape. I came in with thick luscious brows and thought I would get a proper brow mapping. It wasn't even a proper brow mapping using the angles of the face. She did it freehand. Honestly, I should've left when I saw she was doing it free hand. They don't seem to understand Latina/brown girl brow shape. I asked for an S-shape brow and came out with a rounded brow. My eyebrows are basically bald now and I will have to wait 4-6 months until they grow in back to the shape I want. I will say the decor and atmosphere of the place is really nice and I didn't try any other services besides eyebrows, so I don't know how they do lashes or nails, etc. As for me, I will be continuing to hunt for someone to do proper multi-variable calculus on my face. read more

I discovered Beauty Bar Clarendon via Instagram ads and was immediately wow-ed by the their work and decided to give them a try. I was able to book a same day brow shaping appointment with Anna (which is apparently hard to come by so lucky me) and since there were less than 2 hours until my service there was a discount. Score! Based on other people's reviews, I decided to arrive a little early so I could park and find the location. It is located inside of Salon Lofts, and once inside I had to read the board to see which suite BBC was in. As I was a few minutes early, no one was there at first but Anna walked in about 30 seconds later and was able to get to me early. Anna was very kind and professional and did a great job shaping my brows. She asked me initially what look I wanted to ensure that she provided me with what I wanted. She used tweezers to shape my brows, which is my preference so I was thrilled. It took her maybe 20 minutes and I was all done! I think my brows looked good, however I was expecting her to maybe shape AND cut them (using those brow scissors). It's been years since I've had my eyebrows done but the cut always made my final look cleaner so I would've liked that small trim. However, I appreciate that she didn't make them thin in any way and again, they looked good. Plus she was very kind and I enjoyed our conversation. I would definitely return in the future to try the shape and tint.. and who knows, maybe even the lamination. Thanks again, Anna! read more

I had to simply reschedule an appointment due to an emergency work conference call. I asked to come in the NEXT day but I was slapped with a cancellation fee. Do not use them EVER. The one time I went Anastasia did a mediocre job and left me with two different eyebrow shapes. Also after my first appointment I was hounded and hounded for a review and offered $5 off for a review. So all these glowing reviews are people who were incentivized to write a positive review. I was willing to give them a second chance with a different technician but they couldn't even accommodate a reschedule request. Also their email references cancellations but nothing about rescheduling. When I called them out about this she said it was an automatic response and they had no control over it. What???? You can't update the language on your confirmation emails? Also no one answers the phone there ever. Don't bother with these guys. Find a place that is understanding, accommodating and better skilled at eyebrow shaping. read more

I had lash extensions done by Elvina, and I was so happy with how they turned out!! I'd never had lash extensions before and wanted something natural and not overly done, but I was always intimidated by the thought of getting lashes. I ended up taking the leap with Elvina and brought reference pictures of what I wanted. Elvina was so warm and friendly, and she was very transparent about the different styles that she could do and what she thought would suit my features the best. She even had a chart of the different names and styles of lashes, which was so helpful because I had no idea what any of the words on the website meant! I saw Anna for my first ever Lash Lift and Tint and a brow tint and shape. I am so happy with the results. I wanted to be able to go makeup-free for a week while on vacation, and Anna made it happen. It's been almost two weeks and my lashes and brows still look great, although the tint on my brows has mostly worn off (I have fine hair, so this was expected.) The shop is cute and clean, and Anna made me feel very comfortable and at-home on her table. There are several tables close together, but this didn't bother me at all. When booking, I had the choice between several lash professionals, but I chose Anna for a slightly higher price because it was my first time and I wanted the best possible service. I think the extra price was worth it, but the other professionals I saw while there also looked confident and experienced with what they were doing. read more

UPDATE: they contacted me within 24 hours and apologized for the situation. They gave me a discount, an apology, and fit me in the next day so I could still have lashes for my graduation. I appreciated it, and the lashes were beautiful. I respect how they handled the situation! I have been here 2 times. I will give it a few positives. It is a clean, aesthetically beautiful place. The women are kind. It is quiet and a calm atmosphere. In terms of eyelash extensions, it is very affordable for the DMV. The first time (around early March), the service was good. They asked me about if I wanted a blanket and anything to drink. The woman was very gentle and kind. However I would have rated it a 3/5 because the eyelashes came out within a week of getting them. I had never had extensions before but have been told it lasts 3-4 weeks. I took care of them well too. This time (early May), I scheduled a month ahead because it's my college graduation. Again, I know nothing about extensions. I came in (albeit about 8 mins late), and they did not ask me about a beverage or blanket. It was a different tech. I asked the woman if she could do a certain shape and she said not with the price range I am paying. Mind you, I was asking for light, wispy lashes (as in, longer eyelashes not at the end in a cat eye but all the way through instead). Then she asked me if I had put on fake eyelashes recently, which I had. She then told me she would have to clean my lashes and it would take 20 minutes, which she just didn't have time for. She decided she did not want to do my lashes. She told me to go to the front desk. The front desk woman was not empathetic at all either. She just told me come back in a week. I emphasized that this was for my COLLEGE graduation on Saturday and she just said that they think it would be unhealthy to put lashes on me with glue on my lashes. I guess I just don't understand why 15-20 minutes of cleaning my lashes was enough reason to not do them at all. I would have paid for a lash bath. I would have tipped her well. Being inflexible after hearing about how important it was for me was crazy to me. You're lash techs...you're telling me you've never cleaned eyelashes? Aren't lash techs supposed to clean your eyelashes prior anyway? Wouldn't this just take a bit longer? It felt a bit lazy and unempathetic. 1. How was I supposed to know that? 2. I stated that it was my graduation and had scheduled this a month ago and they essentially said tough luck. 3. They wouldn't do my eyelashes for 5 days, and my graduation is in 3. They gave me no alternatives other than just come back later. 4. I have family coming in tonight, and cannot find another place in time. This was the one nice thing I was doing for myself and they did not give a shit. Now what am I supposed to do? I suppose I will just wear mascara, but this is exactly why I scheduled it a month ahead. Because I wanted to feel good about myself on my special day. The Beauty Clarendon is my favorite salon in Clarendon. I've been going since they were located in the Salon Lofts, and am so happy to see that they now have their own (well deserved) place. I usually get my eyelashes dyed with Hanna, and she always does an amazing job. She is so talented and so friendly. Getting your eyelashes dyed isn't exactly the most comfortable experience, but she always makes it effortless! I'm pretty sure I've fallen asleep in the chair from how comfortable I was... which isn't easy when you have dye on your lashes! Most recently, I also got my brows shaped and was extremely happy with the results. I'm looking forward to trying one of their manicures the next time I go in too. This was my first visit to the Beauty and Bar and I was very happy with the results! When I was looking for a brow shape and tint service, I came upon Beauty Bar during a special promotion. I made an appointment online which also included a credit card to hold the appointment (this is pretty normal for most of these type of services). Before you finalize your appointment, they do have a very strict cancellation and rescheduling policy. I highly recommend that you read these rules before booking! I found the salon very easily although parking can be an issue on weekends. I arrived to my appointment about 3min early and I was very surprised that they took me right away! Their salon space is very small with room for two service tables and two service providers. There was another client being worked on when I entered and the young lady who assisted was very kind. She listened to what I asked for and started the service right away. Since I didn't have anything planned for the day, I told the lady (sorry, I forgot her name) that she could take her time. Usually for a brow shape + tint service takes about 45min. As I was getting the service done, the noise level wasn't so bad. Since the room is shared by many lofts with other services going on at the same time, it's difficult to have a very quiet experience. It didn't really bother me, but keep it mind that it will be a bit noisy. Our room did provide some relaxing music to help push the outside noise out. After about 45min, I was finished with my service and I really liked the outcome! My brows were nicely shaped and I like the tint color that she chose for me. Since it was my first visit, it definitely met my expectations. I will be coming back for additional services and maybe even try brow lamination. read more

I started seeing Anna for my eyebrows in early 2021 when she was in the tiny space across the street in Sola Salons and I'm so happy she's expanded her business! I've gone to countless places for my brows and lashes in the DMV (I'm VERY picky) and I'm so happy I found The Beauty! I've also seen Hannah, Kate and Anastasia for my brows/lashes (I get lash lifts/tint) and they are incredible! They're all very sweet, talented, detail-oriented, and go above and beyond to ensure you're getting the results you're looking for. I have really sensitive skin and I love that they offer eyebrow tweezing (so much more gentle and better precision than wax and threading). The lash maximizer service is a real game changer, too. The new location is really clean, spacious and an overall really relaxing space. They're located right next to Lyon Hall and the post office is right on the other side. I accidentally no showed and called a half hour later to apologize hoping to reschedule my appointment. To be clear, I had just gotten off a redeye flight from California, and was exhausted due to having to be evacuated from the wildfires. I have been coming here for months really out of convenience because the job they do is alright, not extraordinary. However when I called I was slapped with the cancellation fee ($55 for my service) despite asking if I could reschedule for the same day. When I tried to reason with the woman saying that I was a loyal customer, I was told that I would have to book a new appointment and they have no control over their system. The woman appeared to not understand where I was coming from - instead saying that my technician had travelled here just for my appointment yet in the same sentence also saying to me that the weekends were their busiest days and consequently no space was available to take me. I will not go here again and will tell everyone I know to not go here either. It's expensive and these people are clearly money hungry at the expense of retaining loyal customers. I went in a few weeks ago for a brow lamination and lash lift for the first time here and it was an amazing experience. I originally went for a brow lamination and after receiving a bad brow lamination job elsewhere, I was kind of nervous. Once I saw Anna's work online, I felt like I was in good hands so I gave it a shot and I'm glad I. I also was skeptical on how well a lash lift would look and last for me, so I didn't book originally for that. While there and waiting for my brows, I asked if she had time and she did so I got both done. I wanted my brows lifted slightly and I am used to threading, so again, taking a risk because she used tweezers and plucked my brows. Once my brows, lashes and the shape had been adjusted, all within an hour really, I was blown away. She did exactly what I wanted and did a great job! It's been about 3 weeks now, and I still have my lashes curled! Prices are good, studio is clean and she does a great job. read more

I had a brow lamination, lash lift and tint. The lash lift is average but the tint is not noticeable at all. I still need to wear mascara to lift my lashes and make them stand out. The brow lamination was not worth it- my brows are unevenly laminated and so one eyebrow still has hairs that are not shaped or smooth. Also, this salon will not cut your eyebrows to evenly shape them and so I ended up with longer eyebrow hairs on one eyebrow than the other. Won't be back and will not recommend. read more
