I used to drive 30 minutes to go see Shruti when she worked at a salon in Natick. I now live in Philadelphia and when I travel to Newton to see family, I always come to get my eyebrows threaded. I have never had my eyebrows professionally done before because my hair is extremely light and fairly fine, so I didn't want to end up looking like I had no eyebrows at all. However, I met Shruti at a wedding expo yesterday. She talked me into trying threading and promised me that she would leave my eyebrows looking more shapely without looking thinner. The results? I went here for the first and last time the day I was to be a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. I don't know who did my eyebrows but I picked the place for its good reviews and I think it was the owner who did my eyebrows. She took forever and was so painful. It seemed like she was plucking each hair individually. Btw I am Indian and have been getting my brows threaded for 15 years now, so I know when someone is doing a bad/unnecessarily painful job. I asked her to just clean it up but she thinned my eyebrows so much! When I finally grew them out I saw obvious bald spots that still haven't grown in 9 months later!! I never had to pencil my eyebrows in before but now I do. It's not just me. It happened to 2 of my friends too( I found out later). I've been threading for years, and in many locations around the world. I even used to thread myself after learning from a Lebanese friend. The past year or so my skin has become even more sensitive, and using retin-a only added to it. I had to give up on threading and went to tweezing to help with the new pain threading was causing. Then a friend made me try sruti! I told her my concerns and she was nice enough to offer to do just a little at no charge to see if it hurt. It was so painless I ended up forgetting I was supposed to tell her the pain level, and got lost in conversation with her instead! Not only was it painless, but they looked AMAZING!!! She kept them thick the way I wanted, and my skin was a little red for all of 5-10 min. (It's usually closer to 4 or 5 hours.) Her thread feels like it's made of silk, her hands might belong to a angel, and she's got a great eye to make them flattering and even. I could not be more thrilled with this threading place. For starters, the pricing is so reasonable. The studio is welcoming and clean which is really important to me. I have tried threading (my thick unruly eyebrows) in the past at 2 other locations, and never had as positive an experience as I had today with Shruti (the owner and currently the only staff member). Shruti is amazing. I stumbled upon her because she was open on a long weekend, my regular place was closed, and I needed my eyebrows done STAT. I am not even kidding when I say this serendipitous event was life changing! I will never see anyone else for eyebrows. On the first visit, she completely changed the shape of my brows to perfection.
