I love the Bedford Playhouse! This is my "go-to" movie theater in the Bedford area. The theater's commitment to maintaining a pristine environment shines through in many details, from the lobby to the auditoriums that shine like new between shows. The Dolby Atmos sound system in the downstairs theater delivers crystal-clear, immersive audio that elevates the movie-going experience to a whole new level. The reclining, reserved seats are roomy/comfy. The box office and concessions team are super efficient and friendly, making the whole process seamless and enjoyable. The 2 smaller auditoriums upstairs are a little more hit or miss, but due to the care of the staff and the presentation of the feature are still better than the other theater in the area. One thing to note is that the Bedford Playhouse is normally closed on Mondays, and showtimes can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead, you may want to catch that new release but if you blink, you may miss it as films rotate in and out usually within 2 weeks of opening. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a unique entertainment experience, this theater is a must-visit. read more

There was a kids party going on in the theatre next to ours which was VERY loud and we couldn't focus on our own movie. When we complained we were told that the kids were quiet when they were in the theatre, but were running around outside the room. Thats a problem! But actually we were in the last row of the adjoining theater and we could hear them in the room itself. So there is that. We all also thought it was unusual to exit the theater and walk-through the main bar/lobby to leave and see one of the staff men sitting at the bar with an undershirt tank top on. First of all it isn't the summer, but even still aren't they expected to wear their uniforms while on duty? It was very unusual. read more

Now I don't know if this is because of the film or all of theaters in there are like this, but my film was in a theater that was the same size as some people's entertainment rooms, I'm sure! I'm not complaining! Loved the large extended leather chairs, great sound and truly what seemed like a private showing -- I mean we're talking 'small,' as in 'tiny!' Pretty cool! The only negative was the fact people (adults) sat on the one side and let their kids go ape $#*! on the other side! Remember, this is a SMALL venue. It reminded me of what I hate about a similar cinema in Pleasantville -- a lot of privileged people on their phones, feet on the chairs, talking... but I digress! Anyway, I can't wait to go back and see something else, and hopefully in the same theater. If I see kids again, I'm getting my money back! I really want to know if the other theaters are the same size or larger. Assuming larger! Oh, parking was brutal -- almost non-existent! read more

I love this theatre. It's not too crowded and the remodel was done so well. The fancy seats you have to pay extra for are totally worth it!! I love coming here with my family, it's so chill and low key, but service is excellent. Such a gem! read more

For a more intimate, as well as clean and comfortable experience, I would recommend The Bedford Playhouse. Roomy, reclining (less the back row) seats, all with a very good view of the screen, as there is not a bad seat and even the back row is only about as far away as you would be 3/4 of the way back in a full-sized theater. If you are going, however, make sure you eat before you leave the house or make reservations if you plan to eat somewhere in town, as your options are limited. The Cafe in the Playhouse is tragic, with VERY slow service and an overpriced menu consisting of pathetic small bites (e.g. the buffalo rolls were comparable to Totino's pizza rolls). The bar stocks 3 basic bottled beers, which are priced at $12+. read more

Have to get back to the Playhouse I heard many marvelous things about the theater I went before the renovations I will give a more in depth review once I go back. The theater was awesome though when I went and saw movies many years back. I would always sit in the balcony this is my all time favorite place to catch a movie! Stay tuned...... read more

A wonderful new little arts center right in the neighborhood! Impressive programming - not only terrific films, some with discussions including the film participants, but top writers, journalists, filmmakers, actors, musicians....! And they are planning a gourmet café soon. Wow!!! The people who saved this little theater in this beautiful neighborhood and all those who supported the effort deserve standing ovations! If they keep this level of quality up, the Bedford Playhouse will certainly become my second home! read more
