I've been a huge fan of "The Cap' for many years, literally one of my favorite venues for live music in the Country. Last night however was the first time I've seen a show in the adjoining bar, Garcia's, which is named after Grateful Dead founder Jerry Garcia. This is a fantastic, intimate venue that holds less than 200 people. A small stage, excellent sound and lighting. Not a "bad seat in the house" (actually, there are no seats, and they remove the bar stools too). Great selection of craft beers, and get your tickets in advance as the place can sell out quickly. "I may be going to hell in a bucket, baby, but at least I'm enjoying the ride".

How Jerry would ever approve of them using his surname I'll never know. Staff is anything but 'kind' and the prices are truly ridiculous.

Absolutely LOVE this place but only receiving 4-stars for the following reasons:…read more First, If you sit back near the SRO (bar area), ALL you hear is people talking and the clinking of glass. Horribly distracting. The WORST place to stand or sit near if you're in the back of the Orchestra (latter rows)! Two, if you sit along the left wall (Orchestra), there is an alcove of sorts closer to the front of the stage. There is a TV in there (WHY, I don't know!), that is left on during performances. If you're in seats along the wall, you 'will' be distracted from the glare of the television light (as I recently was back in Row N!). Lastly, lobby bar prices are INSANE: $38 for a single serving CAN of wine and a single serve bottle of Prosecco. We had just come from a very nice restaurant and paid well less than that for quality!

I fell in love with the historic Capital Theatre the minute I walked in. Just a spectacular old building. While the show we saw, I won't say who, wasn't the greatest concert in the world the sound production and sight lines made for a really pleasant concert experience. Oh, and I should mention that the parking was a piece of cake. The reason this venue only gets three stars is simple: the bartenders were massively over serving. This was by far the drunkest crowd of concert-goers I've ever been in. It was literally unsafe. The venue gets props for having gender neutral bathrooms...they just don't have enough of them. The lines were nuts and for this show there were booze-fueled fights happening while you were waiting to take a leak. All in all, not a great vibe.

If it's a sold out / crowded show I can definitely see how this is overwhelming for a small child. If you have a child under 5 I'd say to avoid, especially since they can't really see the stage unless you pick them up. Another huge disappointment was that Taylor Swift was not dressed up. When we saw this show at Starland Ballroom Taylor was in costume. At White Eagle the singer was just wearing a black Rock and Roll Playhouse tee shirt. I think they could've had a lot more fun with this and the kids would've been excited. For a sold out show they also could have also kept both sides of the bars open. Lines were crazy long. And for the kids drink on special they should probably consider offering a lid with the cup. It felt like miss after miss for a 'kid friendly' event, so we probably wouldn't head back here for a Rock and Roll Playhouse, or at least I'd wait until my kids were older.

Wisely recognized as America's oldest tavern with its stone facade, the Old '76 House, located on Main Street in Tappan, has been welcoming guests and was restored to its pristine condition by the Norden family. Step inside, and nearly every corner tells a story that served as a meeting place for local patriots during the American Revolutionary War. It also welcomed General George Washington for dining on occasion. He once received plans at the establishment that exposed Benedict Arnold as a traitor--prompting a dramatic reaction still talked about today. Upon entering without a reservation today for lunch, my partner and I were greeted by the host and got a cozy table by the fireplace with original Delft tiles in the Tap Room. The interior features rustic beamed ceilings, four fireplaces, vintage portraits, historical certificates and documents, as well as costumes and artifacts where patrons were able to walk around and marvel at them. The menu reflects the tavern's heritage, with dishes inspired by early American cuisine. We decided on the Thanksgiving Sandwich accompanied with fries and the Traditional American Meatloaf over Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. For dessert, we shared Hannah's Apple Crunch with vanilla ice cream. But even more than the great and delicious food was the history, ambiance, and especially the way we were treated. Our server was Joe and checked on us often. The portion was healthy and the price comparable to the area's. If one has even a passing interest in American history, then it's a must to come here. Not just a meal, but an experience!

We were seated right away and put in an order for Mac and cheese for my 2 great granddaughters when we gave the drink order. When they filled our water glasses they brought out 2 cups with lids and straws for the children. A basket of bread with butter helps to settle the little ones. My daughter of course brought crayons and paper for the 2 little ones to keep occupied. My daughter had her favorite appetizer which is Brussels Sprouts with Bacon. My son in law had one of the salads. I ordered the Classic Burger with cheese. My son in law ordered the Burger 22. When I stacked my burger together it was so thick it was very cumbersome to handle and bite into. It was also very juicy because I ordered medium rare. So I removed the top bun and finished off with a fork and knife. There were not many tables filled tonight so it was pleasantly quiet. The food was great and the kids were fantastic. Sal E.
