I am traveling for work and this place was recommended. It would have been 5 stars if I had received the correct food....: Online ordering is my favorite and their site was user friendly. It was delivered hot and the delivery was fast direct to my hotel room. One thing to note - no silverware was provided. Not a huge issue. I went to the lobby desk and asked for some. I was here for a dinner event held in the basement area. I have to first and foremost complement the staff here. They were absolutely amazing and so kind! They were very much on top of everything. Our dinner was served buffet style. The food for the most part was good. Nothing too fancy. But, again, good. I would love to come back and try the food off the menu. I'm sure it's great. I used to frequent Beefeaters quite often years back, and loved it. It went downhill and I stopped going. I've heard rumors that it was getting better. My family and I decided to try it on Black Friday. I must say it didn't disappoint. I had kind king prime rib, it was delicious and prepared perfectly. The sides were very flavorful, German potato salad, and a side salad...(salad was a bit small, but good). My dad had beef in weck, which he said was good. My mom had chicken parm, it looked delicious! We will be back. Hopefully they keep it up!! read more

Second time here. Business trip. Took my crew out to celebrate a successful project. This place is very interesting. Lots of potential with the architecture, but it needs TLC. Tonight the service was spot on and the food awesome. Bourbon NY Strip, 14oz with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Filet mignon, 6oz with salad and baked spud. Prime rib, king cut with baked spud. Perfectly done. All three cuts of meat were done right. Lately it seems no one can get them right. Anyway, great flavor, texture. Not rushed at all. Not too slow. Just about perfect. When you look at the numbers, dinner for three with a glass of wine each and left with a $120 bill? Not bad. Look forward to another visit sometime. read more

Absolutely delightful restaurant in downtown Bradford Pennsylvania. The building itself is magnificent, a historical library, with doors and woodwork reminiscent of years gone by. The food is excellent, as is the service. The menu was a bit limited, but more than adequate. Cloth napkins and light but adequate silverware surround specialty tableware suited to unique dishes. The roast beef dinner is served on a rectangular platter, their better than average onion soup is served in a heavy crock overflowing with Gruyere cheese, The stuffed mushrooms have their own special dish, etc. Make sure you try their celery seed dressing. With mixed reviews I guess we ordered the wrong things. I thought it would be safe to try the roast beef sandwich and gravy fries. I was wrong. The bread used was your typical generic white loaf from a bag. The gravy had an odd texture and weird taste. The meat was cold in spots and too salty. My wife ordered the steak salad which she said was very good, except they forgot her croutons. Many son ordered the grilled romaine and added chicken, he also said it was very good. The waitress was very attentive and we had a nice conversation with her about the lack of people. She said many in the area were ordering on "Door Dash" rather than coming to the restaurant. Took a big tumble since last eating here two years ago. Service was fine but food was definitely not up to par. Grilled shrimp had absolutely no taste except for the char marks on it. Prime rib was 1/2 gristle and not cooked to my request. Appetizers were horrible. Stuffed mushrooms just a pile of cold breading and fried zucchini quite bland. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant were excellent as was our waitress. Going to have to think very hard about trying them again after paying a lot for very poor food. I was on the fence between a 3 or 4 star review. Let me start the building is very cool with a lot of interesting history and the service was great fast and friendly. It was the food and drinks that not so good for starters I got the local IPA and the only IPA they carried, well it tasted like a Yuengling. The devil's on horseback was chewy with little flavor, the roast beef sandwich was ok not great. My friend got the filet mignon and it was overcooked with a with a strange texture and taste ( she only ate 3 bites so I tried it and agreed). I will say the coleslaw and house salad were great. I'm sorry Western New York, the best beef on weck I've ever had is in Bradford, PA. This charming historic building was a former public library. Beautiful woodwork and towering ceilings. We were greeted warmly and the service was attentive. My roast beef was cooked to temp and the roll was salty and delicious. I also got the fries with savory beef gravy. My wife got the hard-carved turkey dinner. My only note would be to tell the kitchen that the zucchini and yellow squash does not need to come submerged in a bowl of oil. I ended up in Bradford and needed a decent bite to eat, so decided beef on weck sounded like a great idea. Location is "downtown" in an old Carnegie Library which is a great spot. Ceilings seem 25ft highs and there are 2 main dining rooms with a bar in front of them. They have about 4 beers on tap and a selection of liquor as well. The menu has a nice array of options, but went basic and took it as takeout. They seemed to have quite a bit of room between tables for those uncomfortable with the Covid life. It took me about 15 minutes to return to my destination and the beef still smelled great atop the weck roll. Beef was tender and not overcooked but should have gone medium rare instead of medium as it was all cooked. Good flavor overall and the roll was decent as well. The German Potato salad seemed to be the canned variety however and I should've gone with fries and gravy on the side. Would I drive 80 miles to order it again, probably not. But would I eat inside post-Covid and give it another try? Certainly and probably try an app and beer. read more

My husband ordered beef stroganoff and can you say where's the beef 3small bite size pieces on a bed of pasta and gravy and that was the special. I love Beefeaters! I was visiting my girlfriend who is Bradford born-and-raised, and she took me here. Best French onion soup I've ever had, the fries with gravy are some of the best fries I've ever had, and the beef on weck is incredible! I would recommend getting the beef on weck with the au jus dip, because without it the beef on weck can be a bit dry. I love love love the interior decor, too - it's so beautiful and historic, and befitting such a fine dining establishment as Beefeaters. The Beef Bar is really unique and a nice touch, and it's so fun to watch the beef man make the sandwiches! Yum! read more

We went here for my parents 32nd anniversary Friday night because my parents love the place. They were able to seat our party of 6 easily but upstairs. In the summer I hate getting put up stairs because it's always hotter than Hades up there and really loud which sucks if I'm with a quiet coworker or friend . It was cool out so Friday it was comfy and PACKED so it was really loud , I don't mind it because I don't mind talking loudly but to some that's an issue. *If you don't like dining in practically the dark this place isn't for you at night* Pregame-Ice cold beer and appetizer platter. They subbed jalapeno poppers in place of zucchini for me. It was really good and I got thick creamy ranch with it. Main course - I know it's a big place but they have really good chicken wings. Usually the wings are better and I order them crispy. Friday my wings were not done crisp and I'm pretty sure they gave me mild instead of medium. I ate them and they were decent but usually they're way better. I got a side of American potato salad which was phenomenal. I had a bite of my parents mashed potatoes with gravy which was great and a bite of my brothers classic roast beef sandwich with gravy which was great. I hate gravy but beefeaters is one of the only places I'll eat it, it's amazing. Afterparty- I got the fudge brownie sundae and had a bite of my parents Hot Tin Roof pie. Both were absolutely phenomenal but the slices of pie and amount of brownie with fudge and ice cream much smaller than they used to be. The place is beautiful and clean with nice staff and I would have given them 5 Stars if it weren't for their portions shrinking and my wings are being wrong. Solid place overall, but nothing I ate was outstanding. The building is amazing, and old Carnegie Library that has been converted. Amazing windows and high ceiling. What they put it in pretty straight forward americana metal chairs and tables with clippings of old newspapers. The beef on weck (short for Kemmelweck) is basically a roast beef sandwich on a bun sprinkled with salt and caraway seeds. The beef was pretty tender and cooked to my request (medium rare). I strongly suggest adding horseradish (provided on table). The German potato salad was warm and vinegar and brown sugar (very Penn Dutch rather than German). Beans were pretty good. I had a graham cracker cream pie for dessert which was also good. Clearly a local landmark, but that is likely because it has not changed in 20 years (or feels like it). read more

We are in Bradford for the night. After being on the road for 15 hours with only snacks, we wanted a good meal. I had high hopes for Beefeaters. Nope. I had a bad vibe upon entering, the strong incense smell didn't help. The waitress had two tables to wait on, the first party left. We got our beverages and placed our order fairly quick. A few more parties got seated..our salads took about 15 minutes to get..a few more parties came. At this point the waitress had 5 tables. A table of 4 made it clear their daughter worked there and she came out to greet them. 35-40 minutes later our kids food came. She said ours was coming but it never did. The table who's daughter worked there got their meals. 10 minutes later, another table got their meal. I questioned and she couldn't tell me where or why a steak that wasn't even requested well done wasn't out yet. another 10-15 minutes pass and it comes out. At this point the kids are ready to leave, we aren't even hungry. The baked potato was hard and cold. She didn't have my gravy fries. that was another five minutes and the gravy is not good. I don't want to say it but I felt we were singled out, and going to say this establishment is racist. 80 dollar dinner and we all left hungry and super dissatisfied. Oh and the kids meals said ice cream was included and that didn't happen. When ASKING for a soda refill, she did promptly as at this point I was super upset, but she never put ice in it..gave us a refill with the melted ice from the first glass. kid 1- Spaghetti and meatball - sauce is very watery...they put the garlic bread in the water so it was completely soggy. meatball was bland..spaghetti came out hot and it wasn't too bad..just not saucy..more chunks than a sauce. kid 2 - Kraft Mac n cheese with fries- Fries were hot and good the Mac was SO dry and gross Adult 1 - Prime rib 14oz with gravy fries and garden salad - salad was okay, small and minimal dressing, steak SUPER fatty not medium well or hot!! fries hot, the gravy clumpy and tasted bad. adult 2 - New York strip with baked potato and caesar salad - garden salad with Caesar dressing, steak warm not hot, not cooked medium well, little fat BUT tasty. The baked potato was hard and cold! Go to McDonald's you'll save money and get better service. read more
