We waited about 30 minutes, and it was well worth it! Definitely recommend getting there early since their specialty pastries sell out quickly. I was able to snag a ham and cheese pastry which was excellent. Everything tasted fresh and well-made. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. The space itself is beautiful...very cottage-inspired with plenty of seating both inside and outside. It's tucked away in a peaceful, secluded area that adds to the charm. The line was out the door when we got there and for good reason. This was one of the best meals we have had in a while. We started with the bacon & Gruyère quiche which was absolutely delicious and so tasty. I would order this again. The cinnamon roll was (I'm not kidding when I say this) THE BEST CINNAMON ROLL I have ever eaten!! For entrees we order the Souther Smother. So so so good!! The biscuit is fluffy and the gravy is out of this world. We also had the grits & grillades. OMG the meat is so tender, juicy, and packed full of flavor. It país so well with the grits, potatoes, and eggs. We also ordered one of every pastry they had to go!! 10/10 I hope we come back to Lake Charles soon just to eat here again. The last time I reviewed The Bekery was 8 years ago and WOW has it changed in those 8 years - all for the better. Loved it then and still love it now. Anytime I'm in the LC area I try and visit. This was the first time I've tried the new location and it's beautiful inside. This visit we tried the Quiche Lorraine, sausage quiche, strawberry cream cheese danish and cinnamon roll bread pudding. All amazing and worth every penny. Next time I'll get a regular latte because the snickerdoodle was quite sweet and that's a personal preference, but it was still good. We'll be back next time we're in town!! read more

Still love The Bekery! Every time I am in town we go at least once, I mean, it's beautiful and always with the delectable treats! On our second visit this trip I met a couple of friends and we were enjoying ourselves (hint: get there early if you're visiting on a Saturday in particular) We each have our favorites but never can resist trying something new too lol This time I ordered the chicken salad croissant and splurged on a lemon scone. The sandwich was huge! I kid you not, as it is served on their amazing croissants it has to be good but, they bake up so beautifully and with the healthy portion of chicken salad the sandwich stood about 7" tall! Beautiful presentation and delicious! Since my sandwich was so generous, I was only able to eat half of it, and as we sat awhile visiting, I decided to nip into the scone it wasn't exactly what I expected, the lemon was missing entirely lol But just then someone came by to check on us and at the very mention she immediately & cheerfully remedied the situation and swapped it for the cinnamon chip scone which was devine! All to say that not only is the atmosphere and cuisine wonderful but the service and hospitality is fantastic! read more

What a delight! Came to lake Charles for a girls weekend and had to try the highly rated bakery near the lake and resorts. About a 10 min drive. Once I pulled up I was already enamored. It looked right out of France. The decor was so beautiful. Such a quaint place and I loved the outdoor seating. One area outside had a fireplace in the courtyard. The food line up was unique and mouth watering. I had a hard time choosing. I went in the evening before closing so there was no line. I ordered the cinnamon roll and it's the best I've ever had. I like mine soft and this was exactly that! The perfect ratio of icing and bread. The next day I came for brunch with my friend. I decided to splurge and try a few more items . I tried the quiche, bread pudding and pistachio pastry. All were very good. Quiche was ok. Bread pudding was delish. The pistachio pastry with raspberry was the best!!!!!! Buttery and flaky. They have a rewards system which is nice. The gal the first night didn't offer it to me so unfortunately my cinnamon roll points didn't go to my account. But the next morning, the cashier mentioned it to my friend which I overheard and I signed up. I know it's gets busy here but it would be nice if they were consistent in offering this or asking if each customer has a rewards account. I look forward to visiting again!!! This was a nice surprise during my weekend trip to LC. I was able to get a spot pretty close on the street. We did have to wait in a line which didnt end up being too long...and then we were able to get a table indoors. I tried the cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, and a rum cake latte, a seasonal item. Everything was really delicious, although the rum cake latte did not have much of a rum flavor. The ambiance reminded me a little of Common Bond in Houston. read more

However, the service was lackluster, my salmon toast came around 30 minutes after ordering. There wasn't clear communication if utensils were supposed to be delivered to the table. I had the breakfast club with a Caesar salad. The sandwich was great. Had it on a croissant. The croissant was super flakey! Had an it with an over medium egg. The Caesar salad could've been better. First time here at the Bekery and this place is 5 starts all the way. The food and the service is exceptional. Wife had the avocado toast with extra eggs and talk about being elevated. The roaster tomatoes puree was an excellent choice to go along with the main dish. Me I'm simple so I tried the make it your way breakfast sandwich and it was nothing simple about it. After that you have to find your own table. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The line can look very intimidating, but it seems to go fast. If you are taking to go orders, you have to wait in the same line. Now for the food: They can make any coffee decaf!!The iced banana latte was so good and the regular caramel cappuccino was good as well, just not very sweet. They have so many baked goods, I got the blueberry biscuit 5/5, very mild blueberry flavor. Nothing here is sickly sweet, which I like. For entrees: We got the all american omelette and the southern smother. Both were SO GOOD! Great portion sizes. French toast was also so yummy. Prices weren't too bad, about $50 for everything. This was my first time going and I would have liked knowing how everything worked. 1. You get in line... because there will be a line and if there is no space for you to wait in the line inside you will be waiting outside in line. 2. I would go to their Facebook and look at the menu before hand so you can have someone what of an idea as to what pastries or food you would want to order. If you don't want to as you get a little closer to ordering they do have some menus out for you to look at. 3. You start by ordering what pastry you want if you want one. 4. Then you move to the cash register where you order your hot food and coffees. 5. If you're in a large party I would recommend getting someone to go sit at the table while you wait in line. I went around 10 on a Sat and the place was packed. I went to sit at a table for 2 while the person I went with stayed in line to order for the both of us. Now for the food. The Ham & Cheese special was so great a tasty. I honestly think two people could have share one of them and be left feeling full. The Latte was good... standard latte. Now the cinnamon roll bread pudding was a 20/10. When we go to any restaurant and they have bread pudding as a dessert we order it every time. This one has surpassed all other places. I wish they would have a Bekery in Texas so I could have it more frequently. The location of the restaurant is super cute and the interior is so pretty . We went for my birthday this morning! We have eaten a The Bekery several times and I decided we would go here today. I had the avocado toast topped with eggs and a mocha latte. My wife had the salmon toast with a caramel cappuccino. Both were delicious and the serving size was perfect. They always bring a carafe of water to the table with our order. The flavors on both dishes were amazing. We researched the flavors we could taste and found that we could use some of them in our home dishes. Pricing I thought was a little higher but was well worth the cost for the flavor and presentation of the meal. read more

Good pastries - bad coffee! We stopped by at 2:30pm for an afternoon break and ordered two coffees and two pastries. The service was friendly, the outdoor patio was inviting with a water feature and shaded tables. The pastries came out first and were quite tasty. HOWEVER - when the coffees came out, they were barely lukewarm. Some may not prefer scalding hot coffee, but one would at least expect the liquid to be hot when served. It woud surely cool over time for those who prefer it that way. BUT - it was lukewarm from the first sip. I took the cups back and politely asked if they could warm them or replace them with some more freshly brewed. The young lady responded that she would try. When our cups were brought back to our table, the coffee was STILL ONLY LUKEWARM. I may sound unreasonably whiny, but one would expect the main event at a coffee shop would be the coffee. Sadly, this was not the case. if you're wanting something yummy and sweet and prefer something other than hot coffee, this is the place for you. read more

Hard to believe a place like this exists in Lake Charles. Very Paris-style cafe experience. Great patio dining! On this particular Sunday, there was a young man playing the sax inside which made it a little loud, so we sat outside. We got a cinnamon roll (huge and sweet/tasty), a spinach, feta, and tomatoe quiche, and the cajun surf and turf which was an omelette with shrimp and andouille sausage. Every single thing was amazing. The service was top notch and super duper friendly. They give free mimosas whilst you wait in line and they don't care if you go back for seconds.
