The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make sure we had what we needed, even taking care of our laundry. Our stay was comfortable, homey, and pampered, and I would definitely stay here again!!! We were on our honeymoon, but I think this would be a great place for families to stay, too.

Great B&B in the heart of Listowel…read more You would be forgiven in the heart of Kerry for wondering aloud 'Why in the name of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and all the Saints in Heaven can I see that womans bare chest?' The Maid of Erin is so called for the large plaster Mother of Ireland which adorns the outside Apparently, a decade or so ago, they attempted to preserve her decency by painting a dress over her chest and were quickly put right. As it is a listed building no such alteration is permitted and so, she is preserved in all her bare-bosomed glory. There is an advantage if you're staying here, when people ask you can just say 'The one with the boobs?' and it clears things up pretty quickly. We stayed here a few weeks ago as we were attending a wedding in the Listowel Arms. 35euro each for a double room and breakfast, not too shabby. The room was clean, comfortable, lockable and had an ensuite with a decent shower. The breakfast was definitely up to scratch (full Irish, aw yeah!) and the Bean an Tí told us it would be available any time after 9:30, with no particular 'end time' which I thought was very nice of her! Overall I'd definitely recommend it for the bed, breakfast and boobs. (I've probably done it a disservice by referring to the plaster bosom so often but really, I found it hilarious!)

The state of Kentucky motto is " Education Pays" as it says on the billboards as you enter the state. Well as you arrive to this facility you are welcomed with miss spelled marquee, I'm no English teacher , but in the age of smart phones, it's unacceptable to have this mistake. The hotel claims it's been renovated, slapping a thick coat of bright oil based paint over old paint doesn't count. The bed sheets were dirty and torn, the shower curtain has holes and pretty much every little detail was missed making much more noticeable when combined together. This is an unacceptable representation for the LA Quinta brand We are accustomed to. Seriously simple fix to show you cared about the renovation was fixed. Come on.... When I questioned it, the clerk became offended and angry. She said the that the information seen and told to me was wrong. I questioned her about how that could be. She said 'FINE, I'LL PAY THE 430 FOR YOU!!' I reminded her that I was willing to pay the $20 as clearly stated. Then she called me 'HON'. Not the nice and charming 'Hon" of the South. It was the snarky 'HON' that says "I'M IN CHARGE HERE!' . . .and you are Not." Then she called an employee from the back to bring her wallet. She opened it like she was going to pay for it. I have no idea if she did or not. I apologized for any misunderstanding and suggested we start over. She said "IT'S DONE!" I thought to myself Y I K E S!....we are going to get a really nasty room . . . and I was right! * We had to keep opening the toilet lid to flush. I finally figured out how to fix it by sticking my hand in the tank and moving the chain to a different location on the arm and reclipping it. Yuck!! Is that my job as your paying guest? * Toilet paper holder is not secured to the wall * The shower head is not fully operational. We know how to use the lever to change the spray. It didn't work. The pipe from the wall looked like it was going to fall on our heads * The hand sanitizer in the lobby does not work These are not remodeling issues. They are maintenance. But first you must care. Fancy chairs in the lobby do not make up for a room with these problems. Pluses: Good mattress and bed linens and decent towels. Yep . . .that's the only plus I can give you. For this Fourth of July weekend, I was on a quest to find the best underwhelming hotel I've ever…read morestayed at, and I can confirm that Comfort Suites in the heart of Richmond puts the competition to sleep. However, the mattress I was resting my nonexistent body mass on wouldn't let me experience that same result. Between that and a hillbilly couple arguing outside at 1:17 a.m., I was cooked. The room was also as crusty as my eyes after not sleeping all night. Legend has it that the bathroom door hasn't been able to lock properly since the Declaration of Independence was signed. The air conditioning worked fabulous, though. The lady at the counter was friendly and accommodating despite us interrupting her dinner. We also managed to make time for breakfast the next morning, stuffing our sweaty faces with fluffy waffles and Bold Coffee. I was expecting to be in a line comparable to that of a Buc-ee's checkout, but I managed to rev up that iron like it was mine. I'll be back once I find a way to catch up on my insomn--
