I'm feeling pretty good about this place. First, the location is great. It's smack at the end of Bermondsey street and a stone's throw away from London Bridge station and More London. The interior is very cool: glossed asphalt flooring and exposed brick. It's a big space compared to your average Bermondsey bar. I went the first week the place opened so I'm being a little generous with the rating. I ate brunch here with my family recently. The menu options were very limited (eggs and toast, a few sides, granola, etc.) so I wouldn't plan a long group brunch here. Definitely not experimenting in the kitchen as far as the brunch options go. But, great if you want to get out of the house and read the paper while munching on brekkie you don't have to cook. I'm hoping they expand the menu options as they get a handle on things. What I'm really stoked about is the bar. It's unfortunate they are opening this time of year because aside from the pretty spacious interior, they also have a patio outside. (hello Sunday Funday!). I'm liking it. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The space itself is 5 stars - relaxed, industrial, and airy feels with great indoor and outdoor space. Perfect for a large group or a more intimate place for two. If you are coming here for a few drinks in a chill environment, this is perfect option on the Street. The food is what brings Bermondsey Yard to a 2 for me. The menu items sound delicious on paper but in reality are poorly executed. We got the Korean chicken wings to start but failed to taste anything "Korean" about it. The mains - fried chicken burger and hake with chorizo and potatoes - were underwhelming. The fries were the one thing they did right. This place has such great potential! Please step up the food game BY!

This place is a new age hipster's dream. It's a restaurant/bar. In an archway. The floor is literally the road. It has the beautiful light bulbs and bits of bronze around the bar and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. There is at least 6++ taps of craft beer. The staff are two extremes: really awesome PLEASE BE MY FACEBOOK FRIEND, or too cool for you so don't bother them with your order until they are ready. They do all of the meals. Breakfast/brunch is a little limited and they only offer a couple of traditional things but both looked equally great. One was truffled mushrooms with a tiny duck egg (just one egg) and the other was av on toast. So Melbourne. Otherwise you can order small plates and share. Pre coffee, sometimes small plates are a bit of a stretch but we did get there at midday expecting breakfast (it was Saturday alright!) so there may have been more earlier. Would love to come here for a dinner with the small plates... Everything that was getting sent out of the kitchen here looked great. Probably not for the big eater on a budget but for the kinda hungry food blogger with a camera phone: jackpot. So let's talk drinks... Coffee gets an A+. The drinks list beer wise is excellent. The wine list could have a couple more bits to it in regards to the lower end- you have a white that is £22 then the next is £34 for the bottle. The £22 bottle is an Italy white which is easy drinking and mineral but not my cup of tea. I would actually love to go here after work for a wine but I feel like I would struggle to find something affordable that I would like if I wasn't drinking beer. Oh why do people do wine lists like this. I just want to drink wine that doesn't send me into debt. Or hurt me with nature, no sulphur wine faults. Beer it is then :( Lastly, they have a beer garden in an alley/carpark. GREAT for a beer or coffee and if anyone can sponsor me for a wine, I'm sure it would taste very delicious out here too. You can't eat out here.

The girl who was serving had to manage the whole pub on her own. You could tell she was flustered and didn't have time for anyone. I don't blame her as it was a busy afternoon. Dirty glasses, we had a cocktail pitcher and both glasses had lipstick on them. The replacements weren't much better and we had to clean them with a napkin. Good points - The food and drinks came out fast! The pub itself has that old school Wetherspoons look which is nice and has plenty of history about the building and surrounding area dotted around the pub which is a nice touch. *Bonus* Can you spot the clip i attached to my girlfriends cardigan, she had that on for hours without noticing.

There is an outside seating area which is usually occupied by groups of younger people who have usually drank one too many cheap pints! The inside isn't too much better but it is insanely cheap to drink and eat here. I have to admit, I'm actually quite a fan of Wetherspoons pub grub as the portions are decent and very good value. The same applies here and I sampled the burger and chips which was very tasty and for around £5, I couldn't have asked for better. The bar staff are also friendly and definitely have their work cut out! I wouldn't really come here for a nice evening drink but it is fine as a stop point or if you are strapped for cash and need a good meal!

While you can hang out in the crowd and grab a pint easily without that, if you want to dine in the quieter dining area with views of the water you may want to do so as well. Especially if you want the elbow room to enjoy such great food. The Mayflower is named after the famous ship carrying the early American settlers, and the church tied to this voyage is steps away where apparently an unmarked grave hosts the resting spot of the captain of that ship. It's candlelit and kind of romantic on the top floor with great views. For food, my wife had the chicken pie and I had the special of the day, lamb stew with housemade potato salad. It was warm, flavorful and delicious, sentiments my wife shared on the pot pie. We split an order of mac and cheese, and it was also delicious. Such great comfort food. I had a small scotch pour and an ale, my wife a glass of wine. I had a small port to pair with the sticky toffee pudding at the end which was terrific. My wife swears by Gordon Ramsey's recipe of the same but this one was hard to beat IMO.
