My porridge with lingonberry jam and honey. And cup o' tea.

Hidden gem tucked inside the Bermondsey Square market, next to a lovely flower stand (Dante). Wandered in and was so pleasantly surprised. Great staff and service, perfectly prepared porridge and cup of tea, apple muffin for takeaway that was equally yummy. Indoor cozy seating for about 15 people and a few outdoor tables nestled among flowers. Not too loud at all and great wifi. If I ever get lost in this neighborhood (again), I will definitely be back. :)

Such a shame you didnt taste good! But as you can see it crumbled as a dry Leaf.

Super Cute place! I was so Happy after following Hej! on Instagram for some time that I now by chance only live a walking distance from them . The coffee was great, even though I embarressed myself by my lack of knowledge on a "real" cappuccino (THANKS SWEDEN!) They very politly made me a latte. Next time I will be sure to try their Flat white! My only downside would be the cakes... The Lemon loaf they served was frankly the blandest Cake I'v ever eaten. Not hardly any hint of Lemon and so dry it only dissolved into crumbles. SUCH A DISAPOINTMENT since its one of My favorites and it usally is a Safe card. I might give something else a try, but I just might also keep to the food instead.

One of the best cups in London!

For a cute coffee shop experience, Hej is adorable. Cozy seating, a variety of little things to buy, and pretty good coffee. It's a bit crowded, and little too warm, but it's decent coffee and better than most of the other coffee shops in the area. In fact, it's probably better than most of them in London. Not a lot of variety, but the coffee is decent.

What a cappuccino (partly drunk of course)!

Love the service and Casey is the best barista/server ever! Awesome cappuccinos and a cool place to sit, work, drink and be merry!

Excellent latte and pastries and most of all great space and vibe. One of the best neighborhood cafes

Hej is another great addition to the cafes on/near Bermondsey Street. If it's not the coffee that brings you in, it's the beautiful flower mart they have outside. Beautiful to look at but as you would expect, very £££. The coffee is little above average in terms of price point but definitely worth coming to check it out on the weekend!

Nice coffee shop with a classic Scandinavian ambient. Great filter coffee, probably the best I have had in London so far.

Coffee is not great! Roasted too much, too hot and bitter. The place is beautiful, however and pastry selection is good.

The hype, in my opinion, is still a bit overdone, but I have to say, the coffee has only gotten better over time, and it's not the worst place for people-watching if you manage to snag a seat. Their espresso is now perfectly balanced and blends well with your choice of cow, oat, or nut juice. Their pastry selection has also expanded, and now carries a modest artisanal spread, from Pistachio Financiers to sugar-coated brioche. Croissants also abound, and in the colder months, they carry Italian Panetone, which soaks up that coffee brilliantly. The space is still small, and during the busier hours, your only probable choice will be to stand at one of the back counters with your tiny spread. They still don't offer take-away cups, unless you're willing to shell out £5 for one of their reusable cups. The bright side: You get those £5 back if you return the cup. Being one of London's finer purveyors of coffee, they also sell pricey beans with a little something for every coffee lover to take home with them. If you happen to come during the Winter Holidays, try to snag one of their cozy seats in the corner of the shop beneath the window facing Borough Market; you won't be sorry.

But no, the bakery is indeed tucked on a market street across from a rail road type place. Once you are on that street, you'll see more people. The inside is beautiful. And lots of delicious bakery options. Not a lot of interaction with staff (very corporate London vibe although decorated like a cozy French bakery), just order at the front. Although their baked goods seemed great, I'm not sure I'll come back except to pick up baked goods if around the area, definitely not when it's dark out.

This morning, I strolled down Bermondsey Street for a Cold Brew when I noticed gorgeous pastries in the window at @comptoir_bakery . After re-fueling with caffeine, I returned to Comptoir and noticed that they had tasty looking Sausage Rolls, which are on my London Food Bingo Card. A Sausage Roll consists of seasoned sausage, surrounded by layers of puff pastry, baked until golden brown. Comptoir's had light and dark sesames on top. I often prefer savory pastries, and this still warm Sausage Roll was the perfect mix of seasoned sausage and satisfying flaky pastry shell. I don't know if I'll have other Sausage Rolls while I'm in London, but this one sets a high standard. My family is still asleep and haven't tried the other pastries and donuts I bought, but they look amazing. I had a sliver of chocolate pastry and it was delicious and flaky. Service was top rate too. If you find yourself in London, @comptoir_bakery on Bermondsey has my high recommendation.
