This is a cute destination place. The best part is the gift shop. They have the coolest gifts, souvenirs, jams, trinkets, and snacks. I could spend an hour looking at everything in the gift shop. I enjoy looking at the novelty and very unique items You have to be careful not to knock anything over as it's very cramped to walk around in. Wheelchairs will not fit! Hopefully if you break, you don't have to buy haha The restaurant has a large menu, with a grandma's cottage feel. I really enjoyed the Dill sauce for the perogies We ordered as much as we could for a variety The waffle station is pretty good; your basic Belgian waffle is served where you then head to the topping bar to load er' up Prices are reasonable for what they serve Think of this place as a humble, family owned kind of bed/breakfast place outside Saskatoon for an after church brunch with your Mom and Auntie kind of place! One sour experience with a ridiculous policy and rude owner negatively impacted an otherwise nice experience. We only went to the restaurant, so this review does not reflect the rest of the site. We reserved a table at 5:00 and one party member was late and they refused to seat the party until the last person arrived. This policy makes no sense; let your guests order beverages and appetizers or even order food for the late guest. The owner argued that lots of restaurants have this policy, we have never heard of this before. At the end of the meal, we expressed our displeasure and the owner was dismissive and insincere. There was no mention of the policy on the website or mentioned to us when we made the reservation. There was no offers for compensation for the rude behavior of the owner and when asked, the lady at the till huffed, rolled her eyes and went to help the next person in line. I was absolutely furious at this point- and, I will admit on my part, went a little over-board; I made a big show about walking out. I only disclose this, because I am aware the owner responds to these reviews and I urge other reviewers to see how the owner responds in a text-book way to the other negative reviews. There are some very serious reviews on here and they should be believed. I wish I believed them. I marched back in and tipped 15%, and I sincerely hope the waitress sees all of it, minus what they have to give to the kitchen, because our waitress was a very lovely sweet girl who was exceptional at her job and very kind and prompt. Aside from the owner being miserable, the grounds are obviously quite pretty which is to be expected. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice as you can see the river. It was warm in the restaurant. The food was delicious, the cabbage rolls were some of the best I had, and the perogies and sauce was very good. The prices were what I expected with it being a touristy-fan favorite of Saskatoon, and our waitress was, as mentioned, very sweet and exceptional at her job. I hope they treat her right. read more

Came for brunch and ordered the Classic Breakfast. It was ok but typical. Tasty and hot and was not disappointed. One person in our group had cabbage rolls and perogies and was very happy with the choice. The staff were excellent and the venue was very relaxing in the Atrium. They do a great job for a country tea room style facility. read more

Dog parents beware!! They advertise their patio as being dog friendly, but it is not!! We tried to go twice, once on Father's Day (we knew it was gonna be busy) and again another day with our dog, both times the hostess was quite rude and despite calling ahead of time to ask about their "dog-friendly patio", we were told our dog couldn't come with us. Quite disappointed and likely won't try coming again. Highly recommend OEB or Poached Bistro instead! read more

We finally gave Berry Barn a try after seeing so many great reviews about it. There's garden shopping area and a gift store that sells baked goods, preserves and Saskatchewan souvenirs. I ordered one of the perogie platters that comes with five perogies and a 1 or 2 choices of either the meatballs, cabbage rolls or sausage. How can they expect anyone to just settle for 1 or 2 out of the 3 deliciously sounding choices??! I chose the meatballs and sausage and added a cabbage roll on the side. The total for my plate was $20. My family ordered the sausage in a bun + salad combo, their mushroom soup bread bowl, and the turkey club sandwich. All were OK but feel the restaurant cheaped out by using low quality shredded cheese on the sausage and soup. I got to try a bit of everything and although it wasn't the greatest food in the world, it's homey tasting. The best part was the waffle. We shared a waffle and got to choose our own toppings at the toppings bar. The other toppings pale in comparison to the Saskatoon berry sauce. I highly suggest only getting the Saskatoon berry sauce with a dollop of whipped cream. Overall, I felt Berry Barn was worth a one-time trip but it's too much of a tourist trap. Our brunch cost $92 before tip for four people, which I'm sure you can use towards someplace better. read more

Disclaimer: review not for the restaurant We didn't eat here but the restaurant and store were ridiculously busy which most likely means it's pretty good. The grounds are beautiful so if you have time, walk through the Saskatoon patch and sit by the river and enjoy a snack from the barn. The store that's attached to the restaurant is loaded with random decor, kitsch and crap that collects dust on your shelves. It's almost overwhelming. Sadly, nothing really locally made which is too bad. There is also an outdoor garden centre area with plants and garden decor. Some really cute stuff can be found here and some really nice plants. Definitely worth a stop for something unique outside of the 'Toon and try out the restaurant as it does have some great reviews. read more

I went here yesterday. I was hoping to take a look at the greenhouse, I don't have a green thumb but I always like looking at greenhouses. Unfortunately it was super cold, I noticed some of the plants outside were covered up. Instead I went in to the restauarant for tea and pie. It was mid afternoon so the restaurant was not that busy, no waiting list required. The restaurant is a good size, and is decorated in a cosy country style. There is a sunroom type of dining area with glass windows looking out to the river. It's very pretty. But we sat in the regular dining room, as that area was a bit more open to the outisde and would have been a little chilly. Being in Saskatoon I went for the Saskatoon tea and Saskatoon pie. The tea was good, a little sweet, I didn't really need to add much sugar. It's loose tea, which I prefer, that's made at the Berry Barn. Of course the pie is made on site. There are two different Saskatoon pies, a regular one and a sugar free pie. I opted for the regular. It was good but had a like a gelatin mixed into it. It wasn't bad by any means, I just would have preferred a pie with the full berries and the pie crust on top, like the sugar free option. If you're not into Saskatoon pies, there are other dessert options, as well as regular breakfast/lunch/dinner fare, depending on the time you're here. Service was quick and polite no complaints. And the price was about $9 for my tea and a good piece of pie. After the restaurant I popped into the giftshop which sells different crafts and food items. I got Saskatoon tea and jam, and I was very tempted to buy the salad dressing. I also purchase a jar of habenero honey mustard and tai chili cheese biscuit mix. All made on site as well. The Berry Barn exceeds at one thing, and that's ambience. Sadly, however, it's not the food. The grounds are impeccable, the people are friendly, and the setting is perfection. But the food could not have been more bland? The hubby and I shared the summer sausage sandwich and the mushroom soup in a bread bowl. Both were underwhelming. I know I'm going to step on local toes when I say the infamous Saskatoon berry pie was just ok. All in all, it's a lovely place to visit. The berry barn is home to one of many u-pic saskatoon berry and other fruitstuff operations on the outskirts of Saskatoon, but it differs in its highly popular restaurant and gift shop. First off, the restaurant. Boy howdy, you better make a reservation or you will be waiting in lines like it's 1975 and you're behind the Iron Curtain. This will give you plenty of time to peruse the gift shop (see below), which may destroy you as a human being. Avoid. Draw straws and leave one of your number behind as a sacrifice to claim your table when it becomes available. Those so spared must leave to go explore the gardens and riverbank outside the main barn. The gardens are lovely and a popular wedding photo destination-- please resist the urge to photobomb any parties so occupied. Keep in contact with your benchwarmer via cellphone or other communications device; ideally your table will open up before he or she loses the ability to speak and emotes only using the wails of the damned. If you've made it this far, you must get the belgian waffles. No. Stop. This is the reason you've come. You will get the belgian waffles. They will arrive perfectly toasted, thick, rich and fluffy. You get one trip only to the toppings cart. Choose wisely. You will, I hope, have better manners than the retiree crowd, who WILL stampede you to death if you show the slightest hesitation at the toppings cart. Plan ahead while you're waiting for your waffle to arrive; it will mean the difference between a successful run and a bony elbow lodged in your kidney. If you're not a fan of sweets-- and here I gape in horror-- or simply not in the mood, the mushroom soup is fantastic, thick and cheesy with huge pieces of white mushroom. The farmer sausage is very good, served with an abundance of cheddar cheese. The perogies are also reportedly very good. They also have a wide variety of pies and other desserts prepared with saskatoon berries and other summer fruits. But you're here for the waffles. Remember this. Now, let me tell you about this gift shop. Kitschy, terrifying art is packed on every shelf and tacked to every wall. It will put the fear of glue guns, needlepoint and stained glass into your heart, and eventually you will break down, and its dark power will enter your soul and lodge itself underneath your skin. Don't let your kids in here, it's all breakable. You won't be able to get away from it in the restaurant either, as choice pieces are tacked to every window, but the concentration is less lethal. A friend who was a local from Saskatoon recommended breakfast at The Berry Barn and it was an awesome experience! The food was what I would have expected on weekends with my Grandma . The price is reasonable, the view is relaxing and it was a nice drive out of the city to get to the destination. Highly recommend taking a moment to find a treat in the gift shop! read more

For a seniors restaurant, this is an unusual place. Seniors are renowned for finding the best value in food, but this place is more expensive than other, better restaurant options. The attached gift shop sells lots of knick knacks at stunningly high price points (a $57 necklace?), so I wonder that the attraction is. The food must totally justify the prices! I had the Potato & Cheese Perogy meal, that included a couple of cabbage rolls and a large sausage. Sprinkled liberally with cheddar cheese and bacon bits, it was on the spendy side at $16. Strip off the garnish and the perogies lose out to Baba's Perogies on 51st Street at half the price. The sausage was tough and surprisingly flavourless. The cabbage rolls were filled with a paste of hamburger and rice. I sampled their famed Belgian Waffle, which we all found soggy and limp, and that was before adding the variety of available toppings (sorry, extra trips for toppings are $2). It is tough when you have a point of comparison, because my thoughts kept going back to the Saskatoon Waffle at Grainfield's--crisp and fluffy and less expensive. The wait for our meals reached nearly an hour, even with the mandatory reservations. The atmosphere is quaint, like my grandmother's house, but way too loud to talk at anything less than a loud volume level. With no diners under the age of 60 (aside from grandkids), I couldn't understand what they saw in the place. BTW, I didn't see a kid's menu. Note: if you use a GPS nav system, you might find them incorrectly located just east of Broadway, when the real location is several miles south of the city garbage dump on the west side of town. Super cute place! We came for lunch on labour day and were not disappointed. I love perogies so I went with the cheddar version with farmer's sausage and a Saskatoon berry iced tea. It was great! And I still had room for dessert so I went with the buried treasure, which was like an apple blossom but with berries. SO GOOD and they come in half sizes. If I had more space in my belly I would have gone with the pie or cheesecake. Afterwards, we stopped at the gift shop for some Saskatoon berry syrup and jam. Then we went for a stroll and goofed around on the wooden trucks, tractors etc. by the river. They had two dogs roaming around that were friendly. All in all it was a really fun day! read more

Came here with out of town family. While the grounds are nice, the food was horrible. The club sandwich looked and tasted as if it was sitting out for days. The soup, chicken noodle, was disgusting. We make an annual trek or two out here from the city annually. This year the quality of the food was very disappointing. The cabbage rolls were bland and had no sauce. The waffle was undercooked. The custard was undercooked. The server was more concerned about her comfort than ours and kept opening the windows to let the cold breeze in never mind that we had politely asked if the windows could please be closed. At that point she slammed it closed. It's almost as if the proprietors have begun to take advantage of their popularity and are letting food quality and service slide. Very touristy. The Food is ok at best. I thought the Saskatoon berry sauce on the dessert on topping bar was tasty. In the gift shop I bought Saskatoon Berry Jam. I took it home and I can honestly say the worst jam in my life I have ever had. The restaurant does has a nice view of a river. The landscaping is nice. I didn't enjoy my last visit to the Berry Barn. Have they changed owners? It was very expensive and the staff seemed overwhelmed.

My last 2 visits have made me decide to never go to The Berry Barn again. Last summer we took some family on a holiday Monday. There were an awful lot of people crowded around waiting for a table. We put our name down and waited 20 minutes. I then asked the woman at the desk, who I have learned is the owner, what was the problem as there were clearly a lot of open tables. She told me there was not enough staff and she said it rudely to me, full of frustration. I said forget it and we left. Last week, I took some out-of-town friends to The Berry Barn. While there the owner came in to the restaurant part and proceeded to give an employee heck right in front of everyone. She did this twice. It was very awkward and we sure felt sorry for the server. Maybe this is why they do not have enough staff sometimes. Also, the food really is not great, only the atmosphere is good. Plenty of other places in and around Saskatoon to take our company. read more

About once a year, I get out to the Berry Barn with an out of town friend or relative and I am never disappointed. Food is great, so is the service and always love everything in their gift shop. My guests are always impressed! Sometimes when it's really busy, the buzz of people's conversations can be distracting but doesn't last long and we're on our way to do shopping. Wedding Review Before I get to far into it I have to admit that this review is only for the wedding and the services/pricing around it. Being from Saskatoon I have on a few occasions been out to the Berry Barn for pie and berry picking and I have to say I have no complaint when it comes to those services. That being said however having a wedding there is a completely different monster. Firstly the price my mother and her new husband paid to throw their outdoor wedding was just astounding at $6900 (Ceremony and Supper only, No Dance) the dance was held in a different location due to major difficulties with this venue, now for some locations in larger centers that may be understandable but for a place outside of Saskatoon it's a little steep I found. What this included was the rental of the area, tables & chairs for 160 people, a basic chicken dinner (with potato dish, veggies and desert) and two large tents with sides. Now the woman organizing the whole thing had insured that the entire thing would be $5500 a month or two before the event for a 160 people and we had to submit our final number of guests a week before the day. Around 10 days before however she called my mom in a near panic because they hadn't submitted this number yet so she was told that they would just stick with the 160 people, suddenly she went into a small frenzy talking about how it would be another $1400 for the extra tent, food and table/chair. They had to in the end turn down the other services such as having wine opened by staff (a $200 fee), table service ($24 an hour) and etc... Still they paid and then came the big day and the bride was driven into the area and car was parked on the spot chosen by the staff on site. Sometime after the ceremony though my mom came over to tell me that I had to track down the keys for the vehicle because the lady planning the wedding was throwing a small fit about it being in the way. All I can say about her, is that she only brought more stress every step of the way when it came to planning things between her constantly looking to up my parents costs and her (what I can only describe as) constant nagging. That being said her general staff was a lot more pleasant. When it came to the dinner I had a lot of trouble eating, first of being that it was a rather hot day it was stifling in these tents between the fact that there was no air circulation and we had near a 160 bodies packed tightly into these tents. Looking back at some of the pictures and videos all you can see is red tired faces all around, you'd think for the price that was paid that a few floor fans could have been provided to keep air moving around. What was worse yet is that the meat wasn't nearly cooked well enough, I personally took a bite into a drumstick and nearly gagged on the chewy pink chicken that it was. Not only was my meat not nearly cooked well enough but a few others at my table alone had the same problem, not to mention everyone else at the other tables. Most everyone left the dinner still hungry or a touch sickly because of it... on top of that we weren't even allowed to have the left over deserts packed up to go. As gorgeous a location as this area is I would never advice anyone I know to celebrate their wedding there. Please everyone should just save the money and have it somewhere else. There are plenty of locations in and around Saskatoon that are just as attractive for a fraction of a price, not to mention better organization, better cooked food, friendlier atmosphere and more accurate quotes.. read more

This was my first and last visit to the Berry Barn, the owners are rude and miserable, and I would not recommend this place for children either. When we arrived I was wow'd by its location and all the neat Knick knacks around, we decided to take a walk around a check out the site before lunch, I was excited to get things from the greenhouse, plants and Strawberries ect. love em and I'm a huge supporter of local produce and small businesses. We stopped to pick a few Saskatoon berries from tree, as were the other 200 people around us were doing, I assumed this was the norm, when the owner yelled at us "those aren't free you know" " some of us are trying to make a living here " and a bunch of other tactless garbage. My 6year old talked about the man that yelled at us for days. Since I've never been to this place before, I had assumed the gardens with playground open to the public for touring and was part of the lure to get you in the door to buy stuff, eat lunch and the actual berry farm part was off limits. Eat 2 cents worth of berries and spend a 100$ on lunch type deal, but apparently every berry and penny is sacred at this joint. Since there are signs posted every 2 feet about " watch you children" and " you break it you bought it" type stuff, it would be easy for the owners to add signs like " please don't try the berries we need them for pies" or " Try our berries in the gift shop" Something classy and professional. Saskatoon berries are everywhere and if I wanted 2 cents worth of berries for free, I would've picked them much closer to my home, like my yard and saved the gas. This place should be renamed to the Barn of Misery and Pillage gift shop ... seriously 15 dollar peanut brittle the size of a candy bar. I will consider myself lucky we left immediately and didn't stay for the 100$ lunch and supported this business. read more

Very lovely and quaint. A good tourist destination. REally great fresh fruit menu items. Good for vegetarians and meat eaters. It is a short drive out of the city located in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park just south on Valley Road. Much easier to get to now that the South Circle Drive Bridge is built as well. read more
