Contaminated brake pads
Kyle W.

I'm giving them two stars because I bought a brand new bike from them and they were able to knock about $80-100 off the price for me. For that I am thankful; HOWEVER, I noticed the bike was making sounds when braking. So I sprayed WD40 on the brakes (big mistake, I know). It began making even more horrific sounds. I attempted to repair and I couldn't get the brake back connected properly. I gave them all the disclaimers and took it back to them to get repaired. This is during the Covid era so they told me two weeks due to high demand. I called the day before the two week mark to confirm that it would be ready (I hadn't heard anything from them up to that point). They were asking me what was wrong with my bike and what I was looking to get done (they clearly hadn't even taken a look at it yet). I told them again what I had done and recommended the pads get swapped out. They said it may take another week. So I said okay, as other bike shops were swamped as well. Two days later they called prior to opening and told me my bike was ready. I was honestly surprised and asked them what exactly they had done. They said a tune up and new brake pads. I went to pick up the bike later that day and I test rode it....exact same issue with the loud screeching sound. It had been there for two weeks and I wasn't willing to keep it there longer and be out of commission so I just took it home. They attempted to charge me $65 but I reminded them that I bought the bike from them brand new and the first tune up was supposed to be free. The guy went back inside and came out with a clean receipt, no charges. I took the bike home and examined it. Pictured are the pads....NEVER changed. Definitely the same pads from before. They simply reconnected the brake cables and called it a day. I ended up ordering some new pads, put them on properly myself and the sounds are gone. Problem solved. I just wish they could have saved me the trouble and done the service properly. I will not be returning to them for anything.

Long term customer from when they were in Silver Spring. Quality work at a very fair price. Highly recommend.

Great service. They know their bikes. We go every year for a bike tuneup and to get new bikes as needed.

These mechanics are great. I've needed tricky repairs done that other shops wouldn't do or did poorly and their work fixed the problem.

We had done some…read more'research', for many months, but quite frankly we had become overwhelmed by the number of manufacturers, features, specifications, etc. etc., and as a result, were unable to make a decision. Long story short my wife ran into Good Vibes Bikes in Rockville (https://www.goodvibesbikes.com/) so we decided to take a look. What a difference! We had the good fortune to be greeted by the manager JAIME MUNOZ whose knowledge of the business was truly impressive! We aren't young and described our needs and use cases, and even though the shop had a bewildering array (100+) different bikes, he immediately directed us to 3 different options which he believed suited our needs. He helped us 'test drive' all three, in their safe parking lot, and we were able to make a quick decision. It was a breath of fresh air! He helped us understand the features and operation of the bike, and patiently answered ALL our questions quickly and direcly... Our bikes will arrive in a few days and we have complete confidence in our decision. If you do take the time to visit their website there is a page (https://www.goodvibesbikes.com/why-buy-from-us) that describes the reasons why buying from them is a sound decision. At first, it seemed like a bit of self-promotion, but after visiting and making the purchase, it all makes sense. These bikes are complex beasts. The idea of two 100lb flat-packed cardboard boxes showing up at our house from some gigantic on-line seller, and spending, likely many hours, assembling them, was more than a little daunting. We consider ourselves reasonably technically and mechanically competent, but having them assembled and tested by professionals before taking them on the road definitely provides a lot of peace of mind... Just the safety considerations alone are worth the price of admission... The additional benefit is they also provide a lot of other services for maintaining and servicing the bikes, which is also a BIG DEAL. I cannot imagine the stress, endless frustrating telephone conversations, and the hassle of trying to fix, or worst case, disassemble and return one of these things to some faceless organization! Bottom line is our bikes will arrive in a few days, and we are very relaxed about our decision. They will assemble and test our bikes and JAIME will give us a call when they are ready for pickup. They will load them onto our bike rack, ready for the nearest trail!! Very impressed with JAIME MUNOZ, and the business model in general. I highly recommend them. If you are in the market for an e-bike, walk in and ask for JAIME, it will make your life a lot easier.

I had been less than enthusiastic since our last tandem bike jaunt in DC left me ragged and looking forward to the end. We rented a tandem bike from a known rental in DC; the bike was rickety and took effort even on the completely flat route we were on. My GF found Pedego and opted for the tandem electric bike. This was a 180 degree experience from the other rental company jn DC. The owner was friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and really made us feel welcome. He knows his bikes gave us a quick run down that made us feel comfortable. The bikes are impeccabley maintained and he's thought of everything including helmets, storage pouch, bike lock, flat tire kit etc. He was even extremely well versed on the route to Mt. Vernon. Every pointer he gave us was spot on. We made it to Mt. Vernon and enjoyed food, history, and culture. The way back was fun since the bike did all the work, electric is the way to go for tandem bike long hauls. I plan on coming back to buy some accessories for my own fat tire e-bikes. This was a memorable experience that was easy and affordable.
