My wife and I had been intrigued by the idea of getting ourselves e-bikes. We had done some 'research', for many months, but quite frankly we had become overwhelmed by the number of manufacturers, features, specifications, etc. etc., and as a result, were unable to make a decision. He helped us 'test drive' all three, in their safe parking lot, and we were able to make a quick decision. It was a breath of fresh air! He helped us understand the features and operation of the bike, and patiently answered ALL our questions quickly and direcly... Our bikes will arrive in a few days and we have complete confidence in our decision. At first, it seemed like a bit of self-promotion, but after visiting and making the purchase, it all makes sense. These bikes are complex beasts. The idea of two 100lb flat-packed cardboard boxes showing up at our house from some gigantic on-line seller, and spending, likely many hours, assembling them, was more than a little daunting. We consider ourselves reasonably technically and mechanically competent, but having them assembled and tested by professionals before taking them on the road definitely provides a lot of peace of mind... Just the safety considerations alone are worth the price of admission... The additional benefit is they also provide a lot of other services for maintaining and servicing the bikes, which is also a BIG DEAL. I cannot imagine the stress, endless frustrating telephone conversations, and the hassle of trying to fix, or worst case, disassemble and return one of these things to some faceless organization! Bottom line is our bikes will arrive in a few days, and we are very relaxed about our decision. They will assemble and test our bikes and JAIME will give us a call when they are ready for pickup. I knew nothing about bikes and Vic was extremely patient and informative. He showed me a custom build, told me about every part, and watched me ride. As I did he gave me pointers and made adjustments in the bike. After talking to him the first time I looked at a bunch of off the shelf bikes elsewhere and the quality difference he was talking about was immediately apparent. I'm giving 3 stars mainly because of communication. I didn't call in advance, my husband and I just dropped our bikes off for a basic tune up at the end of March. Tip: quote the internet price for $10 off. We saw a lot of bicycles in their garage. They said it would take two weeks. Thought we'd get a call or a text saying the bikes were ready, but we didn't. I called when it was two days after the two weeks were up but got the machine and sent a text, but I never heard back. We went when it was 3 weeks and the bicycles were ready. The tires were not inflated though, which was a bit annoying, because I hate to pump my tires! Rode my bicycle last weekend and it went smoothly. For the business to improve: I would've liked to have been notified when the bicycles were ready, because it's a 20 minute drive, and I don't want to drive there if the bicycles aren't ready. 2 minutes ago NEW We went in July to check out some e bikes, the owner and all the employees were very helpful and we tried several cargo bikes within our price range. They had a large selection of bikes and when you go to the store, you can try so many options. They were very helpful and even went above and beyond to help us pick a cargo bike with the combination of accessories that we needed. I can't recommend this place enough. We bought a cargo bike and we carry our two kids everywhere we go in the city. A few months later, we had a question and we needed to reach out about the warranty, and they responded right away and took care of us. Five stars is simply not enough. So long as Vic is in business, this is the only bike shop to which I will take my bikes. Vic is amazing. I brought him two bikes, a Cannondale road bike and a Trek hybrid. The Cannondale was near top of the line when I bought it over 20 years ago, but because of injuries, family responsibilities and other activities, I hadn't ridden it in over a decade. Through my own lack of maintenance, many parts were frozen or corroded from all those years in my garage. Vic went through what i would need very thoroughly, explaining what the thought he could repair, what likely needed to be replaced and whether he expected he would need to find different components. Vic found the necessary components, made a few recommended upgrades and now the bike is like new. Through the pandemic, I had ridden the Trek frequently on the C+O Canal towpath, as well as on the Gordon Ponds Sate Park trail at the beach. The bike had also taken some weather being transported through rainstorms. I hade done some minimal maintenance work, but not nearly enough. Vic tuned it up, replaced some components, and it looks as good as new. I almost hate to ride on the towpath because of the dust I will kick up. On top of all that, Vic delivered the bikes Saturday morning. I regret not taking before pictures so I could post before and after pics. I've been coming into this bike shop for years and I was just in there yesterday. The guy there tried to suggest that I get a full tune up on the bike because it needed a clean up and wanted to charge me extra for the cables and labor separately. I see that other customers in here went with the basic tune up (still got their bike cleaned up) and was never charged for the replacement parts. The owner took a look at the bike and said I would need a performance tune-up, due to the amount of rust​ on the brake system (wiring) and that he didn't have the time to work on the bike that day, due to being completely swamped for the week. But, as I was heading out with my wife's bike he decide to give me an appointment the following Saturday, which is today. When I arrived at his place of business, I noticed a sign on the door saying we're closed Jul, 11th - 19th. I was absolutely surprised by this since I was sure I had an appointment at 9 am​. After entering the business the owner seems​ surprised to see me standing there with my bike. He asked if I had an appointment with him today? While looking at me as if I was a ghost!! So, I told him yes we do have a appointment​ today for a performance tune-up on my wife's bike, so he goes over to the scheduling book to check for my name... but He claims he doesn't see it. SMH! So, at this point,​ I'm heading for the door​ because this guy is starting to make me feeling like​ I'm invading his space and he wants me out! No worries​ sir! I am a small woman who knows how to ride a bike, but knows nothing about what kind of bike I need for where I want to go and what I want to do. My kid's bike was having a recurring issue. I know how to turn a wrench and that's about it. I could get the bike working but didn't know how to identify or diagnose anything. And especially something that requires adjustments and a bit of finesse like adjusting brakes takes me a long time to do and I wasn't sure if was done right. So that and the issue occurring again didn't give me confidence in my kid's bike, especially given the fact that they like blasting down big hills. With all the articles about the recent surge in popularity of bicycling and long waits at bicycle shops, with some shops turning away bikes for service, I wasn't sure about the turnaround times if I got it checked out. And didn't know if some bike shops would try to upsell any unnecessary things like some car dealerships do. But the reviews for Evo Cycles looked promising so decided to check it out and am glad that I did. Currently they have about three days a week where you can bring in your bike for their curbside service with no appointment necessary. Arriving there on Saturday morning there were already a couple of customers waiting and others arriving after me but I don't think there were ever more than five people in line at one time. At first the curbside service wasn't what I was expecting where it looked like the person was just taking the bikes in without really looking at it and I was disappointed at the prospect of my kid not having a bike to ride for a couple of days. But as I got closer, it sounded like most people could expect to get their bikes back the same day. For myself, they did indeed put the bike on the stand and had a tech work on it shortly after they arrived. Their minimum service charge is $25. For less then $50 having them make the necessary adjustments and replacements and having the peace of mind that the bike was checked and worked on by knowledgeable professionals was well worth the cost. By the time I left around 9:30 to 10, there was no line to have to talk to someone or show your bike. Although they did already have some bikes waiting to be worked on. So you might not have to wait in line but I'm not definite if you'll get your bike back the same day if you get there later. Will definitely use them again for future bike repair and maintenance needs. read more
