We had just moved to the area, and someone recommended Goldfinch when I mentioned I was looking for a new bike. I'm so glad I listened. I test-rode a couple of bikes at first and honestly wasn't in love with the initial options. Ian, who helped me, never rushed me or tried to push a sale. His focus was clearly on making sure I ended up with the right bike for Eastern Iowa riding--not just any bike. He eventually recommended a Kona they had on display that was already outfitted with excellent tires and some really nice upgrades. I took it out for a ride and immediately loved it. Even though I own other bikes, this is the one I keep reaching for--I've been riding it consistently ever since. What really stood out was that I never felt "sold to." Goldfinch is all about matching you with the right gear, whether that's the right bike, accessories, or equipment. They did a great job getting everything dialed in and even threw in a couple of extras, which was a thoughtful touch. We've been back several times since to look at bags and other gear, and every visit reinforces why I like this shop. They remember my name, they're genuinely friendly and personable, and it's clear they truly care about the cycling community in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area. Bikes, hockey…read moreaccessories, golf paraphernalia, wrestling gear, treadmills, skis, baseball/softball gloves, and a whole lot more. You name it, they probably have it. Even the obscure stuff. Some areas are more heavily stocked than others (think golf clubs vs. rollerblades), but they do have a little bit of everything. Don't assume that all of their merchandise is used. That just isn't the case. I found prices to be pretty reasonable, but don't expect to get all that much if you're selling to them. Really want top dollar for your bike? Golf clubs? Treadmill? Stick to selling via eBay or other online marketplaces with wider audiences. Play It Again is especially great for families who have kids participating in a multitude of sports--I'd never buy new if I had kids constantly outgrowing cleats/pants/gloves/bats/etc. When we walked were greeted right away by the nice young guy working. Kudos for that. He seemed very knowledgable when it came to the questions we did ask. Huge store. Very well kept and fun to browse/shop. On a budget or not, I highly, highly recommend Play It Again.
