I feel like this review might hurt my chances of getting conveniently booked, but the guy deserves it. Scot is the friendliest, most helpful bike mechanic I've met so far. He'll answer all your moto questions, then explain what he needs to do with your bike and even how its done. When he pulled up in his big red truck, his copilot surveyed the scene, and Scot wasted no time getting to work. Big thank you to Scott who was able to take a next day appt for me for a Carburetor service and clean and a general safety inspection on my 2003 V Star, since it hadn't been ridden all summer. I wanted to give him the benefit of doubt that maybe he was busy, I called on a day I was home sick, left a detailed message and don't hear back for a week. I wasn't stressed because I had parts on order and was kinda scared to trust anyone after the last few shops I have had to do business with but the reviews seemed legit here. Finally got a call back and he said he was busy but could get to me in the following week, discussed what I was looking for he seemed legit and cool, told me what parts I would need so I went to yamaha ordered the parts as mentioned and now nothing. My bike was starting to have problems again after its last service. The engine would either die at idle without the choke or the RPMs would get stuck and not drop, neither one was great. I was super lucky to catch Scot on his last day in town and he was able to squeeze me in due to a cancellation. I called up Scot and set up an appointment time for when he would be in my area. I wanted an oil change for my motorcycle and had been having issues with my idling. If I didn't have it reved up it'd die. If I adjusted my idle too much it'd hang when I throttled it. Scot did my oil change, cleaned out my carburetor and adjusted everything nicely, including my tire pressure on both wheels. Now my motorcycle purrs like a kitten like the way it should. Super convenient that he came to me since he's mobile, and was reasonably priced. I would highly recommend him. I called Scot about a leak on my 2010 Harley Davidson Streetglide and he was able to come out and take a look at it for me. He ended up taking the primary off and found the source of the leak. I had just purchased a used bike and I needed a place to service my 95 Suzuki Dr650. All the shops that I called for a tune up quoted what I felt was a little pricey for their turnaround time. I have a 06 Road King that suddenly shut down while riding. No lights on the console, head lights, starting nothing and the battery was good. I haven't bought a service manual yet so I called several bike service shops for some quick advice because I'm broke down on the road. Nothing they suggested helped me to identify the problem so I called the Bike Smith. Scott called me back and in a few minutes on the phone helped me identify the problem. I hate to leave a bad review for such a knowledgeable individual, however, I feel it is necessary. I spoke to Scott this past Sunday on the phone about coming out to take a look at my bike to diagnose it. I notified him of the current state of the bike and he started naming a couple issues that could possibly be causing the problem. From his reviews I figured he'd be the man for the job. He advised me to drop him a line as to what day works best. So, I went ahead and sent him a text a couple minutes later because I knew he would not answer the phone asking him what day after 3pm works best for his schedule. Scott then proceeded to read my text and not respond. I said okay, let me give him a couple days since he might be busy with other work. Monday rolls around and I still have not heard back. At this point, I need to know what day works for him and I have to be able to work it around my schedule so I call and leave a voicemail. Still no response. It's now Tuesday. I decided I'd send him a text and to my surprise he responds by telling me he will contact me tomorrow, I said okay thats fine. It's now Wednesday. I did not hear from him until 5 P.M. when he told me he would be able to come out either Wednesday or Thursday to work on the bike. He then calls me and informs me that he is 45 minutes away but needs to be back to the location he is at within an hour. First, he tells me he can do Wednesday or Thursday then he puts me in a time constraint with only giving me 30 minutes to work on my bike. I told him i'd rather have him come on Thursday since he'll have more time and he said he will see me around 12 the latest but can only stay till 2. It is now Thursday. I made the mistake of taking the day off of work to wait for Scott to arrive to fix my bike. Scott did NOT contact me at all and it is currently 5 P.M with no response or word from him. I gave him a call around 2 and there was no answer. All in all, the man may be knowledgeable but when it comes to running a business, he lacks knowledge and communication for that. I wasted my whole day waiting for him and I even called out of work. Not only did he waste my time but I could've been making money. He does not communicate with you nor does he keep you in the loop of what is going on and that is definitely NOT PROFESSIONAL. TL;DR Scott does not communicate with his clients in a timely and professional manner. You will be lucky to even get a response from him. The man might know his stuff with bikes but when it comes to a business, I beg to differ. read more

Too bad Yelp doesn't have different categories to rate someone like Scot. He'd get 5 stars on everything, especially knowledge. His craft is motorcycle repair. It's what he's passionate about and what he does best I'm sure. It's inspiring to meet someone who fits so comfortably in his skin. He's a great guy as mentioned in other posts and has a great disposition and personality. When he arrived he got right to work and knew exactly what to do. He even anticipated challenges we would run into along the way, and he was right. We pulled off the carbs on my 79 CB 750F and as soon as we (actually he) were done pulling it apart, cleaning it and putting it back together we installed it and started that puppy right up. Then he tuned it and got it running like a champ. He knows his way around bikes there's no doubt. He lives in AZ but comes out to LA once every 4-6 weeks so you'll need to reach out to him in advance and get on his schedule. Trust me, it's worth it. He'll let you look over his shoulder so you can learn a bit too and his hourly rate is BETTER than any shop around town. Period. I highly recommend him. Thanks very much for your help Scot.
