We came looking for local coffee roaster and came upon this cute place. Doesn't have a lot of seating but the coffee was good. They offer variety of pastries and lots of flavors you could add to your beverage. It's not just coffee they have teas as well. I had a caramel macchiato and coffee had rich flavor.. much better than Starbucks! They only had 2 sizes of coffee and large was not as tall as venti from Starbucks. It's a small storefront but quaint. Service was fast and the server was very nice and helpful. I would definitely come here again if I'm in area. Convenient to uptown so you can sip your coffee while walking sidewalk seeing all shops in the area! read more

Nice quaint coffee shop, nothing too out of the ordinary but nice and convenient to ECU and in downtown Greenvillle. Decent coffee, they also give you options on adding different flavors. Was hoping for latte art but I think this is more of a quick stop and go place. Their coffee beans were pretty good though. read more

As a 10+ year ECU alumni, I love going back and seeing how much downtown has grown! We've come a long way since then and so has Greenville! There are so many cute shops and restaurants downtown including this awesome coffee house. I had some time to kill before a wedding one Saturday morning, so I brought a book and posted up at Blackbeard. There are LOTS of syrups to choose from and I highly recommend getting a latte "for here" because they serve it in a huge mug. I love the decor and the lighting is perfect for reading or studying. I wish Blackbeard was around back when I was in school! I would have loved coming here in college. Just what 5th street needed in my opinion! I liked it so much, we even came back the next day as we headed out of town. Highly recommend. read more

I got a large mocha with whip cream and a chocolate cookie. Both were delicious! The mocha was incredible one of the best ones I've had, tasted just like chocolate milk but not overpoweringly sweet. Stop sitting in the Starbucks drive thru, and instead take a few extra minutes to stop into Blackbeard's a few miles away. Their cold brew is an awesome blend with tons of flavor and definitely try the salted caramel cookie. Blackbeard's is pretty hype. It's right downtown, close to ECU, and it appears as if they are always open - early in the morning or late at night. My research lab often has our lab meetings here, and the crew is kind enough to service us and let us take up space to discuss science and drink coffee. The coffee is good, staff friendly, and handmade concoctions (lol, sometimes I just tell them to mix up things in my drink like cinnamon and vanilla and honey) divine. You've definitely gotta come here while in Greenville! read more

Blackbeard makes good coffee (according to my beau) and I've tried their matcha latte which was good too. (I'm not much of a coffee drinker). Only thing we wish Blackbeard has more of are indoor (or outdoor) seating! We had to find a public bench across the street to sit and enjoy our drinks (in the middle of a hot and humid summer day) because all of the few seats in the coffee shop were occupied by people working on their laptops (which means they will be there for a while).. read more

I loved Blackbeard! We were waiting for a table down the street at the Scullery and simple couldn't wait any longer for our caffeine fix so we popped into Blackbeard to hold us over. I loved the atmosphere inside. It was very warm and inviting with sweet tables and bright sunlight. The coffee menu was impressive will all kinds of varieties and flavors to choose from. I crave coffee pretty much all the time and when I travel, I look for great places for a fix. This place is awesome! This is a true coffee shop, on that isn't your typical chain, and the baristas are actually experts. They aren't douchey, however, so there is no snobbery at this fantastic spot in downtown. The atmosphere is great too, and comfortable, but I'd sit in a dark warehouse if it meant a decent cup of Joe. I sampled several flavors before settling in on one, but I sadly only had time for one. Next time I'm in town, I'll be back! read more

Really fantastic coffee place in Greenville. Excellent beans they roast themselves. Really liked the Ethiopian beans. They made great iced coffee! I purchased Indonesian beans to take home. I really really liked my iced chai with oat milk. Thank you for having so many milk alternatives!!! They had tons of non-dairy milk options, including macadamia milk (which I've never tried). Their chocolate chip cookies looked delicious, but I didn't try one. Inside was spacious, clean, and delightfully chilled on this hot summer day. Staff were super friendly. Great little shop in Greenville. The store was clean, smoke free, plenty of natural light and enough seating for comfort. Staff were friendly & knowledgeable. I just ordered a basic cup of coffee, which had great flavor and aroma. They take the required health precautions but don't make you feel like you're entering a dmz. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent place but having to wait 15 minutes for a cup of coffee is unreasonable. One person working in the morning is unfair to them and the customers. Please have two people working when it's busy. People are looking in the door and leaving. If I hadn't already paid for my two cappuccini, I would also leave. read more

This little coffee shop was a nice addition to Greenville. I just love to see a local coffee shop opened that actually focuses on coffee. I had large latte and friend got affogato with warm chocolate cookie. We are told they bake their bakery from the store (yay!) and use vanilla ice cream from simply nature for affogato. My latte was perfect - they use sour beans and yet it had smooth aftertaste. It offers free wifi and has a few seats that I can literally spend hours here. I wish they have more power outlets near the seats by the window. Staffs were very friendly and knowledgeable. I will come back soon. read more

I've only tried 2 of their beans but will be back for more. House blend: Good balance w/ many overtones that I cant accurately describe (as a connisseur could) but was very pleasant. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe: Amazing. My favorite so far. Fruity, floral aromas and taste. Great little coffee shop with fresh, on-site roasted beans for purchase and home-brewing supplies also. read more

Great place to get some work done - provided you can snag a table! Never seen this place empty during daylight, usually have to sit at the bar which isn't a problem because there's outlets everywhere. Yummy latte and free wifi near a free parking deck. What else can you ask for? read more

This location is connected to a medical office/building and has plenty of free parking. There's a few tables and chairs for outside seating and a more open concept for indoor seating including bar stools. This is a great location for quiet remote work. I've yet to see much socializing at this location but others definitely have that vibe. I love how they have various seasonal offerings each month. The syrups are homemade and not overly sweet. And they offer several nondairy options including macadamia milk. Service is always friendly and prompt. Definitely a part of my regular rotation.

While I intentionally like to go out of my way to shop local, unfortunately, this isnt the spot for me. The largest size coffee they offer is 16oz, which would be fine if it wasn't so expensive and mostly almond milk. Paired with a breakfast sandwich my quick stop was $17!!! That's even more expensive than Starbucks. The vibe is cute and cozy, but that's what you're paying for sadly.

Just be prepared to enjoy each other's company while you wait for your food which is okay. They have an outside seating area underneath the trees which is well done. I'm so glad that they have upgraded the surrounding area and this is a destination point inside of the Greenville City Limits. Don't sleep on this place since they do things correctly. At night, Coffee & Spice stands out from the road due to the beautiful string lighting in the patio area. The parking lot is behind the restaurant. The sidewalk from parking lot will take to you to the patio seating if you go left and to the restaurant if you go right. Upon arrival, we asked to be seated outside because the weather was nice and I was making a call; it was a bit noisy inside. We waited outside for about 5 minutes for the waitress to come back and get seated. She brought 2 waters. After being seated, I ordered candied yams as an app. It took about 10 minutes to arrive. The candied yams, which comes on top a buttermilk biscuit, was tasty! I think my only complaint would be that there was inconsistency in taste. To add, I wish there was more bacon throughout as it really balances out the the other sweet flavors, in my opinion. Or maybe I'm just a bacon lover and wanted to have some of the bacon flavor with each bite. Nonetheless, I ended up eating it by myself bc my bf didn't like it. When I made Exec Chef Quan aware, he said others have said the same thing but opted not to because of the fat back already utilized and its essentially meant to be on the sweeter side, which I understand. Around 8:40pm, I ordered a strawberry lemon drop (alcoholic beverage) and the Crispy Turkey Wing. I got regular honey instead of the hot honey, because I'm not a fan of spicy food. My bf ordered a Mule and the Turkey wing also. The drinks came out about 5-7 min later after ordering. The strawberry lemon drop was DELIGHTFUL! My bf enjoyed his mule. The food came around 9:03pm. The Turkey wing was crispy and delicious. I think the grains that it came with needed some salt, but my bf said it's because I didn't get the sauce and the sauce added flavor. It looked nutritious and didn't taste bad. It could just be my palate, lol. We ended up going inside because of bugs, which is a part of nature and is to be expected. However, once inside, our waitress never checked on us and another waiter finished taking care of us for the evening. I will note that I did feel slightly rushed at the end. The waiter asked if he wanted dessert after he brought our boxes but he also had the bill in hand. What if I said yes? Why not wait to know for sure or ask if we're ready for the bill? To be transparent and impartial, our initial waitress was Alisha. I found out towards the end of my visit that Alisha is also one of the owners. While my experience, overall, was one of no major complaints, I did not like the lack of communication regarding who would be taking care of us. With it being the end of the night and/or having other obligations, I can understand needing to do other stuff. However, I feel it would only be "right" to say she's the owner, has things to do, and introduced the person who would taking care of us. In reflecting, she never introduced herself at all in the beginning, which should be a standard, even without mentioning that she's the owner. In my experience, owners who are present check in on customers to check in and to receive feedback, positive or negative. Nonetheless, teamwork was executed flawlessly. We never went without. Quan assisted us in the transition inside. I MUST add that another waitress, "Icy", was on point! While we were outside, I could tell she was working her ass off. I must give her praise! On Several occasions, she checked on us asking if we were good from the time we were standing waiting to be seated, all the way to bringing out our entrees. I frequently saw her running back and forth from outside to inside. Her dedication to providing the best customer service was highly exemplified! Inside, there are about 9 indoor tables plus a bar area that faces outside. The inside tables had lit candles on them them, which contributed greatly to the ambiance of the restaurant. There are two bathrooms feature barn doors and are gender neutral. Upon walking it, the aroma was pleasant. I then noticed a lit candle. One bathroom has a frame with 4 deeds on it. I inquired about the significance and Alisha stated it was the deed to the house and went on to explain the history of the home and the items on the wall. It's a great story that I recommend inquiring about! Overall, the restaurant is ravishing. I loved the decor, especially the aromas with the candles. The food was delectable. Customer service, overall, was satisfactory with teamwork being a highlight. I love that the menu changes regularly, with only a few items that remain constant. There will always be something new to try! For an app, two entrees, and two alcoholic beverages, it was about $60. If you haven't already, stop by and give them a try!

As the place started to fill up- I felt it was time to leave ( we stayed 3 hours) And we probably stayed longer than we should, the General manager, Cody, was so gracious to come and talk to us, but not rush us out, but say he appreciates us being there and kindly gave us hot chocolate to go (for free) and a gift card for our next visit --which was highly welcomed in the snowy weather we had today. Class act for sure!
