They send you progress reports and check in with pictures when your animals stay, which I greatly appreciate. Our dogs have current Bordetella and Lepto vaccinations and are not regularly exposed to other dogs, but we were told their current Bordetella still wasn't sufficient because it had not been administered within six months. Most concerning was having to advocate for an exception for our nearly 14-year-old Maltese, who is in heart failure, rather than unnecessarily putting her through additional treatment simply to satisfy a grooming policy. I understand businesses establishing health and safety requirements, but changing/enforcing requirements with less than 24 hours' notice--particularly when veterinary care is involved--is unreasonable. After many years as customers, we'll be seeking grooming services elsewhere.

Justin even offered to help me unload, but it was even better to see how much the cats loved them! While I appreciate that the vet techs are knowledgeable and empowered, I don't appreciate that Dr. Parker listens only to what the tech relays, but doesn't take the time to have a two way conversation with the pet parent. I've had this experience more than once with more than one pet. AND, a vet tech called me stating that my dog's labs were normal, when they were actually abnormal. (Details below.) I started with Hemlock Bluffs 9 months ago, based on neighbor recommendation. I have a senior (12 y/o) and a youngster (3 y/o). Our first visit with my senior dog was AMAZING!! Dr. Blankenship (since retired) was awesome and the vet tech was very knowledgable. Next, I took my younger dog for a routine physical with Dr. Parker. The vet tech was again truly impressive! Dr. Parker, on the other hand, was in and out of the room just as quickly as possible. I've had dogs for over 30 years and my career was in healthcare. That is to say that I have reasonable expectations of balancing time. She was almost literally in and out. Fast forward, I took my senior in due to symptoms I was noticing. She's had hypothyroidism for many years. Again, the vet tech was awesome, but Dr. Parker failed to listen, spoke over me, and all but chastised me for my dog's weight (which was my concern!!!) I let that all go, knowing that what I really needed was a T4 level. In a couple days I received a phone call that my dog's T4 was normal. That made no sense to me (based on symptoms), so I asked the practice to email the lab report to me. Her T4 was "normal" for a dog who is NOT on thyroid medication, but "abnormal" for a dog who is on thyroid meds. I emailed Dr. Parker, asked for my dog's thyroid medication to be adjusted, explained the call that I had received, and received a new prescription for the proper dosage. BUT, no apology! And no mention that they take errors seriously and will work to retrain. Nothing!!! I've gone back once since. We saw Dr. Turner who is new and amazing!! She calls out her own results!! As did Dr. Blankenship. But, we'll be going elsewhere. I need to know that no matter who is covering when we have an emergency, I can count on the vet to have a conversation with me, rather than speaking at me based on what the vet tech told them.

Why? because according to the vets there was either a seizure or a blood clot. We were kept over 35 minutes without any updates. We could at least seen him alive before he died. We were sent a photo and an email update on how she was doing. Our kitty came home loved and calm, which is the best we could ask for, considering she gets very lonely when home alone.
