We had a great experience at Dockside. Food was delicious and staff friendly and kind. Will definitely go back on our next visit.

I don't wanna be too much of a hater, but my donut was placed upside down in my bag and then it kind of ruined the donut experience for me because the frosting was all over the bag:( the sandwich was good, but my toast wasn't really toasted and there wasn't much sauce on it.. and I got the pesto sandwich so that was kind of the whole point. three stars because it was still a good experience though like I probably would go back? read more

This cafe is absolutely tarnishing "The Black Dog" brand, and easily represents the worst of MV. We arrived at 11 am, and it was practically empty. We decided to wait in the cafe for our noontime ferry. After reading the menu and seeing "lunch being served 11am daily", we tried ordering a lunch sandwich--the sandwich consisted of multiple sliced deli meats and cheeses, with the most complicated ingredient being "toasted ciabatta". The cashier rudely informed us that it was NOT lunch time, to which we pointed out their own handwritten sign stating 11 am, and asked when they would start to serve the lunch items. The cashier rolled his eyes and asked the ONE female cooking in the back, and told us 11:20 am. No problem. 11:20 came and went with multiple customers being turned away for ordering lunch. At 11:30, I approached the counter again to order the sandwich. The cashier had a slight attitude and said "yes, now I can get it for you". After paying $25 for the sandwich and a regular apple juice (and clearly I was delusional because I chose to give a 15 percent tip) I went to sit and wait. 11:35, nothing. The cook is still surrounded by piles of eggs. 11:40, multiple people who apparently ordered online are impatiently waiting for their very late breakfast. No one is in the kitchen except for the one lady, who seemed to be making one sandwich to completion at a time. 11:45, I walk to the counter and am ignored 3 times by the cashiers. Finally, I ask where my sandwich is, and the same cashier that took my order angrily asked me how long ago I even ordered. I told him that it was now 20 minutes. He shook his head and told me I'm still "second in line". Absolutely ridiculous considering I waited 30 minutes to even ORDER a DELI sandwich, but then 20 minutes later there was no progress??? I told them how absolutely insane that was that a deli sandwich could take this long, and they tried telling me it was a constant line out the door since the morning...they were not pleased when I reminded them I had been there for nearly a full hour at this point and had seen them make 4 sandwiches total. After asking for a refund, the cashier tried joking around that he "didn't have the authority" and was calling the manager over. The manager came over, did not speak a single word, clicked two buttons and said "there. Bye" I stood there and couldn't help but laugh, asking where my receipt or proof was? The cashier also seemed slightly shocked and tried joking again that I had to just trust them....can't trust the noted time for lunch, can't trust the incompetent employees to make a deli sandwich after 20 minutes, but now I should trust them for a $20 refund? Pathetic. They weren't even able to give me receipt proof of a refund, and didn't have me scan my card for a refund either. Either a full staffing change or more support is needed because this was absolutely pathetic. What a way to end the long weekend. read more

EXCELLENT breakfast sandwiches to go! I can't figure out how everywhere else had lines over the weekend and we just walked in and ordered right away, but hey, sometimes you win one. If my "woofer" wasn't the best egg sandwich I've ever had, it was top 3. No lie. Friendly service. Quick. And a very creative menu-I mean, when was the last time you saw bleu cheese on an egg sandwich?! So good! Coffees, fancy coffees, espresso, and other beverages. I stopped by this cafe right before I boarded the ferry back to Cape Cod and had no idea it just closed. The servers were so nice and still made me an ice vanilla latte, which tasted so good. It was also decently priced ($6, extra 50 cents for the vanilla syrup). The cafe also has delicious baked goods, breakfast and smoothies. There's seating outside the cafe that faces the water (super relaxing vibes). I highly recommend checking out the Black Dog Cafe! Overall rating: 10/10 read more

Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out nicely prepared. It was a little bland, but at least the bagel was soft and the hot sauce (grab one from the condiments) added a nice zing. Overall a decent grab and go option for breakfast/lunch, though it seems slightly overpriced. The only other comment I have is that they were already out of a few bread/bagel options when we arrived (11:15am on a Sunday), which was slightly frustrating for our group. read more

Came here to satisfy my craving for a latte. My order is simple: Almond milk latte with cinnamon powder mixed in.... And they had no cinnamon powder. Staff was ok... no smiles. They didn't even seem concerned or even entertained by the fact that they had no cinnamon. Kind of felt like I was in NY. All business... and they were young! Anyways, people seem to love this place. I'm sure it has many pluses especially with a solid lunch menu, but I think I'll be checking out other spots on the island for my latte fix. This brand does well-enough. read more

I came here to order a medium iced latte. The staff asked me for milk options, but they didn't have whole milk or 2%. So I had to go with skim milk. Not much for choice.... After I ordered, I saw the staff started preparing but she pulled out a hot drink cup. I had to say "if that's for me, I ordered iced latte". So she switched the cup to cold drink plastic cup. When I received my order, the color was like very very light brown - not dark like coffee nor creamy like milk either.... I really don't know what this drink was... it was a very diluted iced coffee? An unairconditoined hole in the wall cafe manned by young kids. I don't understand how MV is considered such a prestigious place to be but how none of these venues have air conditioning. I get that it is New England and it is generally cooler there but the day I went I was sweating bullets and so were all of the kids working at this store. Just underwhelmed. read more

The staff was funny and helpful but I was disappointed when I received my breakfast sandwich. Breakfast sandwiches are pretty simple and this was not what I wanted at all. I also asked for my bacon well done... what does that look like to you? Pounds of cheese and the biscuit tasted like straight dough. The sandwich ALSO fell apart while I was eating it. It was absolutely horrible. I asked them about the smoothies, and they pointed me to where the smoothies were. After this I asked about the mango smoothie and the pricing, and they proceeded to make it without me confirming. It was also extremely overpriced at 13 dollars, and it tasted horrendous. I never leave bad reviews for a place but this place has surely did it to me. I will give one star because the food was fairly good! We ordered a Siracha maple woofer & a breakfast burrito with two coffees and both were tasty. My bad review comes from the service we received which makes the food not worth the visit. We've seen many black dog locations scattered throughout the Vineyard & the Cape and decided to try this cafe for a quick breakfast. The woman who rang us up had a very nasty attitude and no smile. While waiting for my drink I stood on my phone looking up things to do for the day in the Vineyard and was yelled at by the staff "hello?" I asked if she was speaking to me and she said "yeah, did your boyfriend want hot or cold coffee?" I told her my husband ordered hot coffee to which she said nothing. There was another young lady there of a different race than me (the same race as the staff) and she received a pleasurable experience and went away with a "have a wonderful day sweetie" whereas I got a "here" to which I said thank you & have a great day. Sadly we won't return. I've never felt racially profiled & degraded before but surely was here. Sorry to say we shall never return. read more

I stopped by The Black Dog Dockside Cafe before I got on the Hy-Line. They did an overhaul this year and it looks great compared to previous years I've visited. Iced Mocha was decent / good quality, I can't speak for the food but the menu looks revamped and greatly improved. I would recommend anyone who has been here in the past re-visit. read more

Ordered 2 coffees, 2 bagels with cream cheese. Coffee area was a mess, coffee spilled everywhere, the trash was on the other side of the place making a cluster*@#% for everyone to get around each other. Went to pour iced coffee (you do it yourself... but they still ask for tips on their swivel register) and it was empty. Left with my bagel, once I arrived at my destination, realized they gave me no plastic knife to spread the one tiny container of cream cheese with. I know this is a dockside place so quality isn't paramount... but cmon, this is just insulting for the prices. I'll never go back, since there's about 100 places in one block to have a better experience. read more
