I had the spring menu special pork chop which was very good though lacking the mass I require for sustenance. The main downfall of McCabe's is the overall bland and predictable beer list with only one decent craft IPA on tap (Anderson's IPA which received a 4.5 on Crapper Craft Reviews). While this saved the day the next most intriguing option was...nothing unless you enjoy a Sleeman railside or a Belgian Moon.....No thank you. Beer is why I come to pubs so this certainly knocked a good start off my rating. Secondly the service, which I usually dont give two farts about, was slower than my second cousin Jimmy (bless his soul). All this combined led to a 3 star rating, but I'm a hard ass so take this with some salt. Still one of the better pubs in the city which is pretty sad. STEP UP YOUR GAME LONDON. Our waiter was super nice, asked us our drink order and we ordered appetizers as well. I ordered a Somersby Cider, and for appetizers we got spinach dip, deep fried pickle spears and bruchetta. All came out first after our drinks and were tasty. The spinach dip was a bit on the salty side, but that was okay, we still gobbled it up anyway. Hanging out with three guys, you know the food is going to be eaten. For my main meal, I got the Buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was really good, super spicy and hot, and the sweet potato fries, were sliced into thick wedges and didn't come with a chipotle sauce like most sweet potato fries do. That was fine, I wasn't able to finish my main meal because of the apps we ordered, so I got a take out box to put my leftovers in for tomorrow. I'm glad we went when we did, it started to get busier and more and more people started coming onto the patio, security guard blocked off the back entrance to the stairs going downstairs to the back for the easier access to the washrooms, so I had to use the front and go all the way through the restaurant. If you are going to McCabe's for a nice drink or night out with friends, your best option is to get their early, before the crowds of students fill up the place for the rest of the night to get the best seat in the house.

Our waitress at FK's let us know about the passage that leads to The Runt Club on the 2nd floor. Huge plus, my boyfriend didn't have to finish his drink, he simply just brought it over with him, no problem! This is the cutest little bar I've ever seen. Dark woodwork, lots of spots to sit, TV's, free popcorn, and the bartenders are in their own little coop-like bar in the centre. The service was REALLY good! It was packed but we always saw someone going around every 10-15 minutes or so, asking if we were okay. The waitresses never seemed rushed or stressed, just loving their jobs. This is a great spot if you want to chill out with some friends, have a nice pint and catch the game or just chat over popcorn. We had great soup, and both enjoyed sharing my bangers plate. The fish and chips were on the soggy side and not hot enough for her. A little bit of a let-down, luckily my meal was plenty of food to split and her fish turned into fish tacos the next evening when we arrived home. We were pleased with the service and fastly made a few adequateness amongst the patrons. I hope to return to The King Edward, a expect to pleasantly served hand pulled ale and enjoy my meal once again.
