Two weeks before my wedding, I was contacted by the company that they were out of stock of the blue vest for the groom. They offered two alternatives, which did not match at all in fabric or color. I asked if they could provide me with the 2 piece of the blue suit and a different 3 piece suit. I would try to find my own vest for the blue suit, immediately return one option and return the other option after the wedding. They then told me that they were out of stock of the jacket for the blue suit as well! This is incredibly frustrating because I now have to find a suit for the groom within the next two weeks, even though I placed an order with them MONTHS ago. Not to add that there is currently a pandemic and many stores in my area are closed. I'm not sure how its possible to run out of a rental I placed so long ago, but this is incredibly unprofessional and leaves me with a large hassle on my hands. read more

All four of my boys (and my husband) rented their tuxedos from The Black Tux. My children are quintuplets, born in the Washington DC area 35 years ago. I am sending you a photo of just the boys, one  with the boys and dad, and one with the boys and their sister--the only girl! The process for renting was great. The tuxedos were the nicest (looking and fitting) that we've ever rented. All my kids are married and tuxedos were rented for each of their weddings. I wish I had known about the Black Tux for their weddings. And they all said they were the most comfortable suits they've ever rented. PAY EXPLICIT ATTENTION TO SALES POLICIES. I purchased my tux with Black Tux by Nordstrom and must say they absolutely do NOT live up to the Nordstrom legacy. DO NOT BE FOOLED. Upon delivery my tux came in a sleek, trendy, minimalist package which I'm sure to certain people is cool, but I don't care about a companies package. I care about their customer service, which is lacking in comparison to the Nordstrom name that they operate under. Upon unboxing my tux did not fit despite me providing accurate measurements provided through their sizing algorithm. The legs had about 3-4 in. of extra fabric for my build. The jacket had about 3-4 in. of extra fabric for my build as well. Their guaranteed fit was a joke and I wasn't laughing. This meant alterations, which meant more money. I decided to wait until a little bit closer to the wedding to get the alterations done since weight can fluctuate and when it was decided that I would not be in the wedding, I attempted to return the tux (un-warn minus trying it on and unaltered, I might add). I was then informed that I was outside of Black Tux's return policy. I should have read better. With a name like Nordstrom (who is a customer focused company and is always accommodating in some fashion) I didn't think I had to worry or read through those kind of documents. The kind customer service rep KINDLY essentially told me to pound sand and that her supervisor would not help in my situation. If I could give them a 0 I would but unfortunately 1 is as low as it goes. WILL NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM AGAIN. If I buy another tux ever, it will be from Nordstrom. read more

My wedding is in 6 days and as of right now i have 2 groomsmen that still do not have their suits, so most likely they will not be able to try on and adjust, two who have had fit issues and can't get ahold of customer service to request another size, and then 1 who was told he will not get the belt or shoes ordered. I reached out to blacktux customer service myself for a size change (still no response) as well as sent a letter of complaint last night informing them I would be writing reviews online if I didn't hear back in 24 hours (still no response). At this point we are beyond simply sending things, as my expectation is now some will have to use another tux shop and The Black Tux better step up to cover the bill. I am posting this review first, and will then continue onto other review sites every day unless the black tux can get this all resolved quickly. I don't have the energy to illustrate all of the issues we've had, but I'll hit you with just a few. this company outsources it's work to people in different countries with very thick accents that have no ability to actually solve any of your problems. They also have terrible connection lines. Only 2 of my 9 groomsmen received the right order. Only 3 of my 9 groomsmen received their order within the 14 day promise of when we'd receive them. My father in laws order didn't come with a shirt. One groomsmen order arrived so wrinkled that he had to get it professionally clean. Several groomsmen received the wrong parts most everyone was asked to wear a size that doesn't fit them. They asked my groomsmen to wear mismatched suits and shirts... and this is where I need to stop because I'm getting irritated all over again. I own a business as well and COVID isn't an excuse. So the companies constant excuse of COVID being the reason for all the problems is insulting and lacks accountability. read more

I rented a tux for a wedding three weeks before the event. I checked out the website, picked what I wanted, and made an appointment for an in-store fitting. I was at Nordstrom a few days before my appointment and they were able to squeeze me in. Everything arrived in great condition and fit perfectly. The return was super easy too. My only recommendation is to buy yourself a nice shirt if you can afford it. Overall, highly recommend it if you need to rent a tux for a wedding and don't want to buy one. read more

I was scheduled to be in a wedding in September but unfortunately the wedding was cancelled due to Covid-19. Therefore, I had to cancel my Tuxedo order with BlackTux. However, BlackTux refuses to reimburse me for the order, even though the cancellation was Covid-19 related and that I cancelled over a month in advance. Crazy to think I can cancel my flights and my AirBnb, but I can't get a refund for a rented Tuxedo. read more

Just wanted to give all potential customers a heads-up: The Black Tux has informed my groomsmen that, during the COVID-19 crisis, they are suddenly "unable to honor" the 45-day refund policy which is clearly stated in multiple places on their website. They instead offered "18-month credits" instead of refunds when they were forced to cancel their suit rentals a full 56 days ahead of the event. Not a great sign. It may still be safe to use this company for short-term events (maybe 4 months out, max?) but I'd be wary about booking anything longer-term than that as they seem to be out of cash. read more

As other reviewers have stated: the concept is good but the quality and service are poor. Shipping was late, leaving me stuck with a tux that looks and feels like a $20 Halloween costume. Ordered an actual bow tie and received a trashy clip-on one. Just a mess all around, and I look forward to seeing this company go out of business. read more

My experience with The Black Tux was hands down one of the most stressful parts of planning my wedding. When the suits arrived, everything went wrong. My husbands pants where over an inch and a half difference in length of the legs. We also ended up buying a new shirt because nothing they sent fit like it had during his fitting. My brother and father put in the exact same sizes and when their suits finally arrived (not two weeks before my wedding like they "promise") they were very far from the same size. There was only one person who got a suit that actually fit. This was after getting measured too!! The shipping was a whole different disaster. My father had to call multiple times to track down the suits after they did not arrive when they were supposed to. The company promises two weeks before the event, it was more like 5 days. My father in law had to get a new suit sent because of course they didn't send him one that fit. He explained to them that they he would be at my house and it would need to be sent here. Instead they sent it to his house on the other side of the country! The worst part is that was when he called to see where it was they even said something about having that note and address right in front of them, they just didn't do it! No bride should ever have to deal with the stress of this company two weeks (if you actually get the suits in time) before their wedding. read more

I found this all to be a very straight forward and streamline process. I had a great experience with customer service. My tux required slight adjustments once i got it but I received it in enough time to get it all taken care of. I got plenty of compliments on my tux at the wedding. Issue 1: We went to Nordstrom to try on the suits before we ordered them for the trail/rental. The people at Nordstrom were helpful, sized my fiance, and helped us enter our sizes in online. What they did not tell us is that the tuxes and suits fits very differently, and there only tuxes available for trying on (he new we were looking at a suit). When we ordered the sizes recommended from the fitting for the trail, the suit fit terribly. We immediately called the support line and spoke with the most unhelpful woman. She told us the suits run a size big and we should have sized down. This information was not included anywhere on the website. I asked if we could get the new sizes for the try on and she said you only get one size for the trial- but to trust them and order the new sizes for the wedding. That was a definite no on my end. She said it's $30 to send another try on size. I asked her why I wouldn't just create a new profile and order another free try on and she said "we will just know". So that is exactly what we did and tried the new size which was good. Issue 2: We ended up ordering the grey suits and it came in and looks pretty good. The sleeve lengths were slightly too long, so they will need to get hemmed. Also, the sleeve lengths were uneven. We live in Washington, DC, and the cost of altering the sleeves is $30 (cheapest we could find). The amount they reimburse is $15, which might work in more rural places, but doesn't here. All in all, if we hadn't needed the grey suit we couldn't find anywhere else, we definitely would not have used this service. By the time you factor in alterations and adding in the shirt, tie and shoes, you would be better off with a package deal from Men's Warehouse. read more

I am in a wedding in 2 weeks and the majority of the orders are either incorrect or just not able to be delivered correctly. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS. I am absolutely LIVID with my experience with The Black Tux. One of the main reasons I went with this company for our wedding suit rentals was their partnership with Nordstrom. As you may know, Nordstrom has one of the best return policies and customer services I have ever experienced. The Black Tux puts a significant negative mark against Nordstrom's name. With 37 days left until our wedding, one of our groomsmen received an error message trying to order his size, which prompted us to call customer service. Come to find out, they do not only have the inventory to fulfill the order for the remaining groomsmen orders, but they are also unable to fulfill the orders that we reserved and paid for 4 months ago. We were not notified of this in advance, we found out retroactively on our own. The customer service representative, Danica, mentioned that they were waiting to notify us until mid-August when their fulfillment centers were operating at full capacity again, which is COMPLETELY unacceptable! It's putting us in a pinch to find an alternative now... 36 days until our wedding. Let alone mid-August which would be about two weeks out. Not to mention, Danica falsely informed me that all sizes were to be ordered 60 days prior to the event date. However, the website clearly states 30 days. How are customers required to provide notice on sizing 30-60 days prior, and yet it is acceptable in their eyes to inform us of an inability to fulfill our order 14 days prior to the event? Can you say double standard?! Oh, and it gets worse! Their idea of "resolving" the situation is refunding the orders and offering 20% off your next rental. However, I will NEVER give my business to this company again, so that really resolves nothing. In fact, I plan to do everything in my power to ensure none of my countless friends getting married in the upcoming years gives The Black Tux their business. If anything is speaks to The Black Tux's lack of value for their customers and their complete misunderstanding of the damage they have caused. PLUS, I had to call back several times to get ahold of Danica in the first place. Their reps told me the first time she would call back within 24 hours. She didn't. When I called back again, they mentioned she would call back in an hour, but she was late. When she finally returned my call, she was clearly unable to resolve the situation to my satisfaction, I requested to escalate the situation and she declined to provide anyone. She also informed me that the avenue for documenting a formal complaint was to email her own support inbox. I wouldn't be surprised if this company gets sued for false advertising... Their website's guarantee, copy and pasted: "If you're the organizer of a wedding, build your party's looks and place your order as soon as you know the wedding date. Once you place your order, their outfits will be reserved and each participant will receive an email invite prompting them to create an account. From there, we recommend that everyone in the party enter their sizes, choose to rent or buy their look, and pay for their order 30 days prior to the wedding date." I placed my order MONTHS ago, which should have "reserved" the outfits for our participants. Not to mention we are still outside 30 days prior to our wedding for our participants to enter their sizes and checkout. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Do NOT go through this company and make sure to tell your friends not to either. read more

I came in on Saturday February 24, 2018 without an appointment and Kakda was able to help measure me and show me the Black Tux website. The measurement process was quick and I was on my way. I ordered the tux recommended by Kakda and received it via FedEx a few days later for my event. The tux fit perfect and even the shoes had a new shine on them. I reused the box and enclosed strip of tape to return the tux on Monday. I would definitely recommend Black Tux to everyone and also recommend planning in advance of your event. Give yourself a couple of weeks and make a fitting appointment. This worked out perfect for me and I will rent from them again, great product and service. read more

COVID cancelled the wedding but it was rescheduled. That part has worked fine. But god forbid you need to change the size of your suit they will tell you what size you need. Everything about the suit runs small. So make sure they don't screw you when you ask for a difference size. My boyfriend needed to go up in a pants size and they decided what size they would send over instead of what size he asked for. Really nice service for something that sends the suit a week before a wedding. Also whoever emails back for customer service should probably just swallow her pride and realize she's working customer service and not be rude to the customer when they do as they are told and ask for a resize. read more

Man oh man. What a mess using Black Tux was. My brother, myself, four groomsmen, my dad, and two ushers all rented suits for a wedding last week. If the suits are high quality it seems like an attractive idea to rent for an important event. It would sure beat buying a cheap ill fitting suit from Men's Warehouse right? In a perfect world yes, in the world of Black Tux...No lol. Every single person who ordered a suit had issues with fit, missing pieces, mismatched attire, and problems with quality. It's strange that the fit was off because I personally went to a Black Tux location at a Nordstrom and got measured. Jacket came in super small, pants were very short. I had to send the jacket back and request a larger one and take my pants to a tailor. The button on my shirt was cracked in half. They gave me two different size shoes. Many people in my party had similar issues. The suit quality was that of the bottom end suits at Men's Warehouse. In my opinion this rental service isn't worth the headaches. Concept is good, execution was sloppy. I think this business can it turn around if they train their employees a little bit more and take some time to pay attention to the details and quality of their merchandise. read more

I am getting married in October and this store just turned away my best man, who drove over 30 mins to get fitted for my wedding. It was 12:45 and they had a representative who did not have an appointment until 1. She said that she couldn't possibly get him in for a fitting. It's really funny that I was fitted at their Santa Monica, CA store last week and it took no more than 10 mins, and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating (I didn't have an appointment either.) It appears that this store has no regard for their customers, I'd consider getting your rentals somewhere else, if you want to work with staff who actually care about something as important as a wedding. Absolutely shocking that they would not make the extra effort to fit in a customer who drove a long way to be there. Sounds like this store is just going through the motions. Black tux was misleading about the alteration process (big hassle) and now they refuse to cover the full reimbursement. I've recommended The Black Tux to my friends and will continue to do so. The service is top notch with all questions answered in a timely manner and the suit always fitting very well on the day of the event. When the sizes have been off, the reps made sure they understood the needed adjustments and the replacements have been delivered in a timely manner have always been perfect. I 100% recommend The Black Tux. First, their selection is stylish. They have both classic and fashion forward styles, but they're all good regardless. I did an in-person fitting at a mall location and I would recommend doing that. The tailor gave me good advice on what sizes fitted me the best. Definitely, the best fitting thing I've ever worn. I got so many good comments on my tux. Also, The Black Tux is cheaper than Men's Warehouse for a much better quality rental. Just do it. read more
