Today I tired to exchange my skirt that was $119 with 70%. Which is supposed to be $35 but they charged me 10 extra dollars. I showed it to the workers and they accused me of tapering with the sticker. Which I did not! I looked around the store and found the same exact skirt ,it was indeed 70% off. So I scanned the QR code on the Zara website and it said $35. I then showed it to the workers and they said they can't do anything about it. I wanted to return a pair of shoes , clearly unused, unwashed and she declined based on a "store policy" in the back of the receipt that she admitted she couldn't even read as the letters are tiny. This store manager with zero customer service skills told me that the external hanging tag for the shoes was detached and that was against policy. Well the placement of this tag made it impossible to try the shoes at home on without it becoming detached which I explained to her. . She said "I am not going to go back and forth with you" and told me to call Zara customer service. I suggested that they should consider reminding customers that the external tags for shoes have to be present when returning ( the back of the receipt only talks about "internal garment tags) and she simply walked away when saying she didn't have to give me her name when I asked. She might be the same woman in a picture posted in another Google review. Terrible customer service at the Montgomery Mall/ Democracy Blvd. location! I rarely write reviews, but I had such a negative experience in this store that I felt compelled to share with others. On 4/15/24 I was in line attempting to purchase an item. The lines for the register were unorganized so it was difficult to tell which line was for returns and which line was for purchases. I waited in line for several minutes and then walked up to the next available cashier when there were no people in front of me. The cashier quickly said, "This is just for returns", so I stepped back. Shortly after, a man who was not in line walks right up to the same register (the one I was told was for returns) to make a purchase and the same woman who rudely told me that line was just for returns, helps him with his purchase. I then asked the employee again what the line was for and she said "returns". I said, "was he making a return?". The cashier responded, "he was making a purchase". Calling her inconsistency to her attention, I said "I want you to realize what you just said to me." The employee said nothing and did not attempt to correct the situation or apologize, but allowed the male customer who had not waited in line to make his purchase in front of me in the same line that she had previously told me was for returns only. I will not be returning to this store. As a woman, and a person of color, I noticed that the person who was helped before me (without waiting in line and making a purchase in what I was told was the return line) was male and not of color. I cannot say for certain if the cashier's actions were driven by racism or sexism, but what I can say is that she was rude and inconsistent and that this is not someone who should be working in customer service. Tried to return an unworn baby matching top and bottom that was missing the external price tag but still had receipt and they denied my refund. Sent my husband in who is more tactful during this situation but with a lot less F's to give and received a refund. He put this store in their place and here's how you can too. Apparently this store doesn't understand what an internal and external tag is. External tag is a price tag. Internal tag is the manufacturers care tags. They tried to tell us that a price tag is an internal tag. Losers. Here's how to get a refund for an item they said you can't return due to a missing price tag: As long as you have an unworn item and all the internal tags attached. Call there customer service number at 855-6359272. Tell them the issue you are having and at what location and they will assigned you a case number. Write the case number down and go back into the store and let them know that customer service said you can return the item and here is your case number. When we did this they didn't even call and just wrote down the case number on the receipt and gave us a refund. The Montgomery Mall Zara employees are thieves. Don't fall for their crap of not being able to return items. Their manager was waste of time too who refused to give her name to me. I hope this helps everyone out. read more

My mom and I just shopped at Zara (Montgomery Mall) Bethesda MD and this is my first time filing a complaint about one of your associates. My mom and I are browsing at your store when my mom accidentally dropped a cloth, I was about to pay when I heard the associate said my mom "you're making a disaster!". I turned around and asked what did she mean by that? She then asked me if my mom speaks English because she was just kidding and said she's arranging the clothes and just doing her job. I told the associate that she shouldn't be saying that whether she's joking or not. I told her I understand that's her job but telling my mom she's making a disaster is rude and not professional. I told her I don't appreciate the way she talked to my mom. She said that was just a remark and we did not understand the word "disaster". What?! I talked to the manager of the store (Jessie?), she said sorry but it wasn't a sincere apology. When I asked the associate's name, she said she's not supposed to give her name. Today is my mom's birthday and that experience ruined our day. It's not about race or culture. It's about being nice to one another especially when you're in a customer service. Favorite store! ZARA always has the best styling, up-to-date, modern looking clothes for Men! The Slim Fit style really matches me since I'm Korean-American. Finding the perfect size in blazers and jackets are difficult at other American stores, but ZARA seems to match my sizes and fit perfectly! It is definitely my favorite store to shop at. Have bought over 30-40 blazers/jackets and love all of them! Always get many compliments whenever I wear stylish threads from ZARA. Will definitely continue to shop at this store! The only bad thing about this store is the purchasing time. They only have 1 register open most of the time, so if there are a lot of people, need to wait a while. When I go to the register the girl says it's 69.90 I'm like nah the tag say 19.90 so she have a manager come over and she tells me she can't honor the price because that tag doesn't belong on there. All Zara's in the DMV close at 9:00 P.M. on Saturdays, so why is this location locking their doors at 8:00 P.M. ?? I literally had to drive to the Tyson's corner location for a return which is RIDICULOUS because they close at 8! Then the manager at this location tried GASLIGHTING me saying that they all closed at 8 when that's a lie! I drove to Tyson's Corner and asked an associate there. Sure enough, they all close at 9. There was one person on the register and about 7 people "stocking" aimlessly in the store, despite them frequently passing the line, they did not stop to assist. Love Zara and unfortunately this location is the closest to where I live. After working 13 hours in DC, I decided to stop on my way home to pick up an outfit for a video shoot the next morning. I walked in on Wednesday (3/4) at 7:45pm and found several items but needed to try them on. I went to the fitting room to find it was blocked off by a rack of scarves. Found an associate and asked where I could try on my things. His response? "The fitting rooms are closed". Baffled, I responded "so, there's nowhere to try anything on"? He responded and said "no, they make us close the fitting rooms at a certain time". It was 8:00pm by the time I needed a fitting room and the mall closes at 9:00pm. Needless to say, I purchased nothing and left the store extremely confused. Spent my $$ in the Topshop section of Nordstrom. Zara Customer Service is one of the worst I've ever experienced. Zara is a great international store. There are not many around here so I drive an hour to this location! The clothing is very classy yet trendy. Like say....a matured, more sophisticated Express or H&M. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it all looks the same. They could have a little bit more variety in styles or colors. read more

This place has absolutely zero customer service and they could care less about retaining loyal customers. I should start by stating that I have become hesitant to stop by this location while shopping in Montgomery Mall, because the store is often disheveled and the staff acts as if you are completely inconveniencing them by asking a question. So, this review is based on all of the above, AND, an encounter I experienced during a recent phone call to inquire about the return policy. The women I spoke with, who claimed to be the manager, was unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. I contacted this location to inquire about returning an unworn item with the receipt and tags in tact. The women who answered was extremely rude from the time she answered the phone. She was snarky and terse, and unwilling to allow me to ask a question. Perhaps she had a bad day. Either way, this is certainly not how I would expect to be treated by someone in a customer service role. This lady actually hung up on me after refusing to give me her name. When I called back, she hung up on me again. I was on disbelief. I contacted the store one last time, a young man answered the phone. I asked him for the manager's name and he stated that it was against the company's policy, and the law, for them to give out there names. Not even a first name. I realize good customer service these days is rare, but this experience was one of the most horrendous encounters I have been subject to. I love Zara clothes. I made an online purchase to pick up in store only to discover that my item was already picked up. Huh?? I had not picked up the item (a pair of shoes) and asked to see the signature of the person who did pick it up because it wasn't me. The relatively rude manager would not assist me any further and instructed I call corporate. Corporate had to open an "investigation" - okay, but I had to constantly call to check on the status and get my refund. When I finally asked corporate to produce the receipt as it would be accessible and have an employee number on it, then they would figure out why there was shrink in the store - and where my shoes went. I was given a refund after a lot of hassle. This is probably the best Zara store in the area - merchandise wise. The other stores don't carry the same things, this one probably has the best stuff along with Georgetown. Every time I come in here, I find at least 6 items I would love to walk out with. Zara is a great store because it carries some really great items, design and construction are good. And yet prices are reasonable for the quality. The only downfall with Zara stores as a whole is the customer service. I have never gone into a Zara store that has had good customer service. And this store specifically has some of the bitchiest employees I have ever met. I like to primarily order online and just return in this store if needed. Dammit! I didn't really want to like this store, but I do. Yes, I know that Duchess-Princess Kate Middleton wears Zara and blah blah blah...but honestly, it just didn't seem to be like my style. But dammit, Zara proved me wrong. Before I begin, I should state that my style really depends on what day it is. Monday - Friday, I look like Hilary Clinton...pant suits and bad hair. Saturday - Sunday, I look like Tura Santana's deranged Asian sister. Yeah, I'm eclectic. Let me be. So, I figured that Zara was going for that "tastefully trendy" look. A look that I don't do well in...and dislike spending the kind of money one needs to stay "tastefully trendy". But by some weird happenstance, I wandered in...and promptly fell in love. Within 15 minutes, I walked out with an eggplant colored shell with leather accents, and a snow white zippered tunic jacket that looks like it was designed for Twiggy (well, the old stylish Twiggy from the 60's...not the new frumpy Twiggy). *LOVE* And the best part? @Zara is a clothing retailer leading an organized theft business! At least in the US...the Bethesda MD store to be exact. They claim their policy prevents you from trying items in store before purchase yet hardly accept return requests. I visited the @zara Bethesda, MD last week; when I asked about fitting rooms and trying on clothes, workers informed me, per policy, they are not allowing clients to try on items but reassured me i could buy items and simply return in the event they don't work out. I proceeded to buy 2 dresses (I was going to an event and couldn't decide what to wear so I bought 2 dresses from Zara and another from Macy's- the Macy's dress worked better on my body so I kept it and decided to return the other two). To my big surprise, when I reached the store and requested a return, they claimed the dress was missing an inside tag... an inside tag??? As far As I'm concerned, all relevant tags were still attached to the dress yet I am being told the inside tag is missing. I questionned them, because as a client, how do I benefit from removing an inside tag but not the other 3 tags that are still attached to the dress? To say I am baffled is an understatement!! I love Zara clothes but I canNOT stand the customer service in this store. The registers are always overflowing with customers and there will only be one register open. This is the most frustrating experience and keeps me from shopping in this store. I don't ever remember a time when the lines are not outrageously long. Employees are like mindless robots and don't pay any attention to shoppers...they look like they are being tortured to work there, or carrying out a jail sentence.
