I should have read the reviews before I decided to do business with this company. I'll give you the details. I was looking to rent a tuxedo so Google and found black tuxedo. I did my research and based on when I ordered, they said it would take 14 business days so I decided to call and share my situation and told them when my event was. The guy who answered the phone. He was great. He would assured me that I would have my shipment well before my event so I decided to make an appointment and drive hour and a half for a fitting appointment. I then again asked them there just to confirm I would have my shipment prior to my engagement and both of them told me I would have it at least 2 to 3 days prior to that event so I decided to move forward paid and then I get a FedEx that sells a shipment was coming two days after my event so I called to see if this was correct because I had spoken to three other people and all three confirmed I would have it before before my event. But come to find out the information I was given before ordering the tuxedo was wrong. The person on the other end of the phone told me that it would not arrive before my event it would arrive after my event. I decided to ask for a refund. They've been told me I would have to wait until they got it rerouted to them. Well, it's been a week. It has been rerouted and they have yet to process my refund. I would rethink before I would do business with a company like this, and they will not be seeing any business for me in the future. read more

Extremely disappointing service on the second go. My first rental was easy, I got it early but needed a replacement, but again it was easy to replace and they shipped it to me for free before my event. Now, the second time, what a mess. Maybe its just me being optimistic with the internet and technology these days, but I am proven wrong with Black Tux. If for example your previous 'fit" as they call it, didnt fit and you ordered a replacement, wouldnt a 'smart' thing for the service to do is update your profiles 'fit' so next time you order it will be updated with what actually fits you? Guess not. Heres where the mess goes even further. I ordered my rental on Oct 2nd and it said the estimated delivery was Oct 9th. I didnt get a notification that it shipped until Oct 11 and didnt receive the order until late night the 14th, which is 5 days away from my event. So I have less than a day really to try it on and request a replacement so I can guarantee it comes in time. Solution? They offer free rush shipping on replacements if within 48 hours of the delivery date. WRONG. I ordered my replacement within hours of receiving the initial order and I was prompted to pay at-least $20 shipping to receive within 2-3 days (too close) or $40 for 1-2 days (still tight on timing but should be fine. Of course later on you see in the fine-print that any replacement order within 13 days of the event, the rush shipping is no longer free. So, do the math, the ESTIMATED delivery date was already within the 13 days!! What a scam. Just to add to the BS of this service, the jacket showed up more wrinkled than my 90-year old grandfather, so now I need to pay for rushed dry cleaning. Oh wait, you cant dry-clean these!!! Last, but certainly not least, this tux was not cheap to begin with. For a full 'get-up' I am paying a minimum of $300 to RENT a tux and I get the lovely experience described above..... DO NOT USE. Spend the extra time to go to a real rental company like Friar Tux. They check your 'fit' in person before you rent, and they even check when your suit is ready so they can make sure it all works. Pretty sure its about 15-20% cheaper too......How nice is that?? read more

I was invited to a company event late in the game. I went to the Black Tux in Austin TX, got fitted, and was told, for a fee, the Tux would arrive the following Tuesday. It did not. I got it two days later with no updates. One good point is that it all fit. I was told to either return the tux to place of fitting or mail the box back. I chose to return it to the place of fitting. They checked it in, verified it was me and then off I went. over the course of the next almost three months, I was accused of not returning it, had the tux sent back to me from the store I return it too, was charged a late fee, charged the entire amount of the tux after numerous times telling them to check with the Austin store, and finally got a half hearted apology. You can't reach customer service and when you do they don't care. read more

My fiancé ordered his tux from here via their online fit system. The fit was incorrect. Sent it back, got a second one. It was still loose so he booked an appointment for June 4th for alterations, this was over 5 months ago. Now it's exactly a week before his appointment and we got an email saying it's been cancelled. He can rebook using x link. THE END. No explanation as to why it was cancelled. When i called Nordstrom, the customer service explained Black Tux is a 3rd party that rents space within Nordstrom. They haven't had a stylist from them in store at melrose for several months, have no knowledge of the appointments they have made but that several parties have had this happen recently and they've been sending customers to the Black Tux in Santa Monica. This location no longer exists. DO NOT AN APPOINTMENT AT BLACK TUX MELROSE. The system will let you do it but no one is there and it will just fall through at the last minute, when the system realizes the need to cancel. A week before, absolutely horrible customer service. No direct line, you call a 844 number, hold times for Santa Monica started 300 minutes! My fiancé called the Glendale black tux while i sat on hold, his hold time started at 75 minutes! read more

A slick website does not make for a great experience. My husband and son got fitted for tuxes on May 14 for a May 28 event. My son's tux came in a couple of days. My husband's never arrived. I got confirmation emails but the tracking number showed the package was in limbo and BlackTux's system wouldn't let me log in, so we couldn't even ask for help. We called the store, where they really only take orders and are not set up to deal with delivery issues. Finally, someone at corporate reached out to tell us the warehouses were, by then, closed for the weekend and nothing could be done beyond issuing refund. Seriously?? How do you have a business for weddings and formal occasions yet fail to provide help on weekends for the inevitable glitches? People are relying on BlackTux for their once-in-a-lifetime events, yet it's clear from reviews that this company causes a lot of extra stress. Luckily for us, Otto and Aidin at the Torrance store set my husband up with a sample suit used for fittings. We really appreciate their initiative and personal attention. It was 100% their idea and the solution did not initiate from a corporate policy of quality service. I live in the DC area. I got fitted 5 months before, and then lost 20 lbs. The location I went to closed, and the partnership with David's Bridal ceased. So, I had to drive far too get fitted. When I got my tux, the buckle on the pants was broken. One of the groomsmen received a short that was ripped, the other two groomsmen had to order two additional shirts that finally fit OK. I called customer service and they didn't now anything, not helpful. This company seems like it's going out of business, or will soon. Not recommended. read more

We had such a disappointing and stressful experience with The Black Tux with renting for our wedding, which is a shame because the garments themselves are actually quite nice in quality for the price. The fitting appointment itself was a great experience at this location - my husband was able to get measurements taken and tried on exactly what he wanted to wear for our wedding. The associate ensured he and his groomsmen would have everything in his size ready to go. That's about as far as I can go with a positive note for this review. Fast forward to just two weeks before the wedding, sh*t hits the fan! Every groomsmen in our party received emails saying that either their pants, jacket, or shirt sizes are no longer available and that they could either order the next size up or down. How is this a helpful or logical alternative? After a lot of back and forth, everyone got their appropriate size but it was no easy task. When my husband received his tux, the tuxedo pants were completely different than what he tried on and the jacket did not fit him as it should - there was also a makeup stain on one of the sleeves. The pants were super baggy while the ones he tried on at the showroom fit him like a glove - slim fit. Frantic and stressed not knowing what else to do, we contacted customer service thinking this had to have been a simple mistake - they must have just sent him the wrong pants, right? wrong! - according to the online customer service associate I was emailing, the pants my husband tried on don't exist! There was no explanation for the discrepancy although it was clear he did not receive what he tried on in the showroom - we even showed them photos side by side and it was clear and the associate acknowledged the difference. The best alternative they could come up with, two weeks before our wedding mind you, was for my husband to get the next size down in the tux pant which would "sort of" look slimmer and less baggy OR he could return the pants altogether and try his luck at Nordstrom for tux pants that would match the rest of the suit. Again, why would either of these be logical options? Who wants to wear pants that are a whole size too small, on their wedding day no less? It was clear we were getting nowhere and running out of time to find a tailor to alter the whole suit, so we luckily found someone local to us who was able to get the job done. It wasn't a cheap fix, but it was worth it and needed to be done. The tailor had to take the pants in a lot to get the slim fit my husband should have, and he also had to fix the tailoring job done on the suit jacket by The Black Tux - one arm was longer than the other oddly enough. We did more alterations to the suit than what The Black Tux "allows" (also they only reimburse up to $15 in alterations) but honestly, I don't care. You can't expect people to be okay with such mediocre service days before their wedding when you leave them with literally no other choice. We had to do what we had to do to ensure my husband felt great in his suit, no thanks to The Black Tux. I would never, ever, recommend this company to anyone. I will never use this company again and will recommend to anyone and everyone I meet to stay away. I rented a tux. The Santa Monica showroom employee who took my measurements said I could get alterations done at that time. No limitation was mentioned. Fast forward to the delivery. They were 4 days late, just 10 days before my event. The tux jacket and pants fit in some places, but not all. For the first time, I received an e-mail with the delivery from this company that the only alterations I could do was to the sleeves/pant legs, or order a different size. Of course, the latter made no sense because the jacket/pants fit in most places. I called customer service and they provided absolutely no solutions. I literally got the customer service rep to admit that there was nothing I could do about this ill-fitting tux, other than incur "lost fees." Finally, to the guy responding to the myriad terrible reviews Black Tux on this website, your feckless condolences are meaningless. You and your company are not doing nearly enough to fix your obvious customer service problems and ridiculously unreasonable policies. My husband and I rented tuxedos from The Black Tux for our 10th Wedding Anniversary and renewal of vows ceremony on November 3rd. What a great experience it was to work with them. The whole process from getting fitted and returning the tuxedos was very easy. The staff at the location in Beverly Hills was very knowledgeable and friendly. We felt very comfortable. The tuxedos arrived two weeks in advance. My tux was missing the shirt so they FedEx'd it to me and I had it the next day. Most of all, the tuxedos fit perfectly and we looked great. I don't think I will buy another suit; I'd rather rent a fashionable new suit than wear the same old suit or spend hundreds on a suit I'll only wear occasionally. read more

My friend chose this terrible company for his wedding. We had nearly 10 groomsmen so it will seem almost unbelievable what happened. The first issue was that my tax rental was $254 which is rather pricey. Thus you would expect high quality. What follows are the many issues we experienced. Two of the groomsmen have their pants split. No joke. My shirt had a discoloration. Two more were sent the wrong size shoes despite multiple efforts to correct that issue. Others experienced issues with fits despite also trying to resolve those issues in advance. One guy in his efforts to rectify the wrong fit called customer service and roosters could be heard in the background as they use a call center from the Philippines. I would never, ever use this company for any occasion whatsoever. read more

Very cheap looking tuxedos. The lapels on the black tuxedos were all puckering due to overuse or improperly cleaned. Could not iron this out to flatten them. Very cheap fabric. Not sure how other colors are. There were a lot of up-charges which makes this Tux shop no cheaper than any other regular tux shop. They say you can return the stuff to get another size free of charge. But if you are close to the wedding date, and can't afford to wait for them to ship it regular, then you have to pay for the expedited shipping repeatedly, until you get the right size. The speed of the service for size switch outs were super quick, and the local sizing stores were great for final fittings. The return process was great once I was finished using the rental too. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! We accidentally put our own jacket into the return shipping box, and called them right away. They told us they will tell the warehouse to look for it, but I don't think they ever did. They promised to call us back, and they never did!! They said it took 30 days for lost and found. So we waited. We should have just driven to Gardena for the delivery, it's only 37mins from us, or even tried to find it at fedex. Shouldn't have trusted them! They claimed that our jacket was not in the box, but there were 2.6lbs difference between the receiving and returning boxes. So they either lost the jacket or someone took our jacket (it's a pricey one). If they lost the jacket - they don't have a way to track who has operated on the newly coming package, to figure out what happened?! If someone took it - unbelievable! They hired a stealer?! Just a hour ago, they told us they will call back after 20 mins. But again, they didn't! I understand that we made a mistake that we shipped our jacket out. Regardless of its price and it has our wedding memories, we did everything we can, everything they told us to do. But turned out there is no room for us to correct the mistake, even though we called them right away! Since they were not capable to find such a large item, we requested to search by ourselves. I had a horrible experience at The Black Tux. I would not recommend their services to anyone. As I was in the Santa Monica storeroom they were pulling looks off the wall and saying the Tuxedos were not available even though they were still listed online. Their website would not process my card. (I called the bank and they had no record of transactions even being attempted for my card). Once the website was working the next day, I was finally I was able to order my Tux. The tux was supposed to arrive on August 7th, 2021. My consultant at the warehouse did not contact me until August 10th, 2021 for a wedding scheduled on August 22nd! I had to coach her to perform service recovery. She eventually pieced together an ill-fitting tux without the shirt and sent that to me. I was unsatisfied because the jacket, pants, and shoes didn't fit I asked to return everything. She refused to waive the 40$ return shipping fee and has not processed my refund to this date! Emmanual C. from the Customer Care team really needs some additional training because my experience was less than stellar and I was exceedingly patient with her. I would never recommend this service to others and I made sure to share it with all my friends so they won't make the same mistake I did this wedding season! You will have a much better experience at Friar Tux. They were able to fix her mistakes and put me in a higher quality tux for a lower price. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!! read more

The young lady there was very pleasant and helpful. Needed a white dinner jacket tux for a special event in Beverly Hills. She had my measurements taken and was able to be fitted on the spot. She helped tailor the order so that the actual tuxedo I rented would be perfect for the day of. This was an extremely convenient process and I was in and out in about 20 minutes.
