They treated us all like family, anticipated our needs, and walked us through every step. We were unable to be onsite on move in day, and they orchestrated all the details and arranged for a special lunch, her hair to be done, and tour. What an amazing new family to join! Some of the employees taking care of my husband also took care of my in-laws. A variety of activities happen throughout the day, 7 days a week, there is something for everyone. Dietary provides a wide selection of foods to meet each residents' needs and wants. What I find so amazing is how every employee knows all the residents' names. The employees are dedicated to the care of residents with respect, remembering that this is their home. This is one of the reasons River Garden consistently is evaluated number 1 in the state.

Meals were delivered according to nutrition needs, physical therapy was also well received by my mother. The negative experience lies in her discharge procedures as well as lack of communication with the Director of Nursing Angie and Case Manager Jenny. Her discharge required portable oxygen as well as set up for home oxygen she was released with neither and was lied to that we simply had to call and they will deliver it. It was confirmed by the company they never received the requests. She was prolonged a procedure for several days to remove a tic and was transported twice to a hospital to have it removed without confirmed scheduling resulting in her being left once and I had to Uber her back to Life Care. The D.O.N Angie and Case Manager Jenny never returned calls and once confronted released they were telephoning a number that was never given to Them upon intake from my mother, myself or St Vincent where she was prior to being released there. She was discharged without three vital life threatening medications causing her to miss doses and resulting her being in the hospital upon arrival. If you have any other options please choose them. We have filed a formal complaint with AHCA and our family attorney has admonished us to build a case and we are.

Many of the units have screened in back porches with doors. Some of those units have a sidewalk right up to their back door. I wish they would make all the units have this added luxury. A standard. My apartment has a nice screened in porch with a door that opens up to the back field, but there is no sidewalk and there is quiet a drop to step down. Visit WL look around. It is very pet friendly. Most of the med-techs and LPNs are very kind. You always have a couple employees not happy. The Dine room has made changes for the better, but meals are served at specific times. They are doing maintenance on the buildings to restore them back to their "beauty ". I wish they had pictures hanging of this place opening day till present day hanging. Know:If your independent living make sure you understand your independent and will need to call 911 if you need help or have fallen. Assisted living is may what you need. It's nice though ,here you can transition from independent to assisted to memory care if that's what you need. There are activities here but is a slower pace since a couple residents are nearing 100! But thats ok. The young ladies at the front desk are a delight. Always NICE! I say give it a try here, bring your dog and if it's not for you, it's ok. I wish they would put a speed bump or two in the front and here in the little back road... I know you are in a hurry but older residents on scooters or walking their dogs can't always move as fast as you. And then there are the geese- I love watching them, but some people are just mean and speed up when they are moving so slow... clipping the goose. it's not nice.... A slow sign and speed bumps might help. or a funny sign saying "geese crossing". Any humor at a retirement community is a must. I post good and not so good just because this place could be the best retirement community, the way it's laid out. Walmart , Vet, Food places near the entrance. that's a good thing. hope this helps you decide or at least come look.

The sink she had was detached from the wall, her room was barely ever cleaned properly so there were ants crawling everywhere, the place has a disgusting smell. There were times where maybe the toilet overflowed and the water would just be sitting there for idk how long. The staff is very disorganized. There really weren't any activities for those on the memory care side they just sat in chairs all day staring at walls or whatever was playing at the time on the tv. It was like pulling teeth to get them to communicate with the next facility we were moving her to. There was one staff member who took an interest in making sure she was okay and that was very much appreciated. This is the perfect place to leave your loved one if you don't like them.

I came there from being in another Hospital for about 22 days, and I had a lot of issues going on with my health. For the two weeks I was there I was treated with such a great host of staff members in multiple positions. you all really took care of me in so many ways. I felt the concern of my well being, pleasant and joyful in serving me. From nurses, doctors, therapists, dialysis, food service, housekeeping , others in the hallways were very friendly. I know many faces, but I can't remember all the names, I am going to put up some more reviews with names that I remember. Thank you all for helping me get some much better. my prayers are with you and I would recommend your facilities.

My brother and I were impressed when the chef came out to introduce himself to us on the first day. He asked my mom about her preferences and got to know her a bit. The activity director, Ande, is a delight. She works there with her dad, who is her equal in fun. It's obvious they love their work and believe in the mission because Ande's grandmothers live there too. I'm so thankful we found Starling at San Jose. Mom is living her best life!
