Hidden gem! This hole-in-the-wall place is not to be skipped out on! Growing up in the south, it's hard to find good soul food or southern food in general. If you want real soul food this is where you'll find it. Everything was delicious- seasoned and cooked perfectly! My experience was horrible! First off the table i was seated at while waiting on my To-Go order, there was a liquid that kept dripping from ceiling periodically onto my left shoulder. I looked up at the ceiling but could not determine what it was because there were no water spots on the ceiling and it was dry sunny day. I also requested that my three wing chicken dinner be fried hard and well done, it was neither, and my request was also written on the receipt! The chicken skin was very soft and carmel brown on the outside and very chewey on the inside like it needed to stay in the fryer until it was completely done and not short of being raw, it also tasted like there was no seasoning on the half done chicken but I'm assuming that the white specks on it were some resemblance of seasoning. Out of the three pieces I took three bites of the flat part and threw the rest including the other two wings in the garbage! The candied yams were extremely stringy in every spoonful and loaded with sugar and whatever else they put on it to make it a dark brown color, it was disgusting. The collard greens and cabbage was more collard green stalks and a few pieces of cabbage stalks mixed in and that too was very watery with no flavor. I also ordered peach cobbler, which i didn't even bother to taste, based on everything else, i just threw it in the garbage too. For Blazing Chicken II to claim to be a Southern Soul Food Restaurant leaves a lot to be desired in southern ethnic style food. Too Late; Did not Read Grub literally Got Soul Service Super Bad After a couple solo trips here for takeout, I wanted my Mom to try the fried chicken at Blazin' Chicken Shack, so we decided to dine in. Big mistake. I won't make it again. The vibe was anything but comforting. Sometimes, a hole-in-the-wall spot just isn't worth the struggle. The kitchen cranks out quality comfort food, but the the focus during busy times is on takeout orders, not diners. We showed up around 5pm expecting to eat there, but left well after 6pm with takeout, and finally got to eat--back home after 6:30 with no fried chicken. Total disappointment. Our server was friendly in taking our order. She warned against fried chicken, saying it takes 25 minutes to cook and the kitchen was 30 minutes behind, so 55 min was the best we could hope for if we ordered that. Huge bummer. No such delay for other items, she assured us. Mom ordered gizzards (rarely seen on Denver menus) and I asked for the catfish, which I knew was delicious in a huge portion. I've been here before and was ready to be patient. Good food takes time. As noted by other Yelpers, the staff seem poised to snap at people they deem impatient. I know better. Over the next hour, we gave up trying to get our server to fulfill her promise of a cup of ice for our bottled Coke. Refill our waters? Forget it. On each trip to adjacent tables--including serving food to people who ordered after us--she somehow turned away or just didn't hear us asking for her attention. I get that they were busy, but ignoring customers for an hour is bush league. Eventually, I went to the counter to ask if we could have it to go. I was the only customer there. After a few minutes of watching our server and others box and ring up takeout orders, she turned her back on me and walked away. No one else helped. I checked. I'm not invisible. I followed her until she begrudgingly acknowledged me. While waiting to pay, I overheard that they must have misplaced or lost our order. No apology. Instead, the person who took payment mocked me to my face and then to other staff. I had not complained, only asked for takeout. Perhaps having enough staff would afford time to actually provide table service without being openly rude or ignoring customers. Maybe not. The surliness seems baked in--a feature, not a bug. If you like long waits, empty water glasses, and staff too overwhelmed to acknowledge you, dining in at Blazin' Chicken Shack will be right up your alley. If you're looking for comfort, just get takeout or go elsewhere. Negative stars for "service" cancel out good food. read more

Went here last Saturday, 7/22. They were quite busy and only have a small kitchen. I ordered the Fried Chicken dinner, 1/2 a Chicken, Breast, Wing, Leg and thigh and you get two sides. I ordered the Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans, and you get a piece of Cornbread with it. Extra sides were $5.00 each, except the Mac and Cheese, which was $6. The Mashed Potatoes were rather salty, but the green beans were excellent. I also got some Mac and Cheese and it was a good size and was very Cheesey and delicious. First all, they are not consistently open even if it says open on the website. The first time I showed up, it was closed after I drove 40 minutes to get there, but it said open. As soon as I walked in to see if my order was ready, the waitress was rude. Not a good impression. Finally got to taste their plain fried chicken, wings, and honey hot chicken wings.They told me I would wait 30 minutes and I sat there for over an hour waiting on food. The honey hot does not taste good and is not seasoned very well and there was three chicken wings in the batch that were dismantled and busted up.
