    Fried 1/2 chicken + mac&cheese, green beans

One of my new favorite hole in the wall spots here in Denver!! The food tastes just like what my grandma made when I was growing up as a kid. Will certainly be back

The oxtails were tender and delicious with the rice and gravy. Loved the greens and cabbage and mashed potatoes. My daughter had three large chicken wings with mac and cheese. Everything we ate was delicious. I had real lemonade to drink that was perfect! The cool aid my daughter had was just right. I must come back here the next time I'm in Denver. Ten stars.

Food was amazing and packed with flavor. Service was amazing and friendly. We don't live here but we will be back again when we visit.

On a work trip and was craving catfish, and this had good reviews. Nothing really bad to say, the food wasn't bad but at the same time it wasn't my favorite. I finished everything except the green beans. The best part to me was the shrimp. The catfish was hard fried and not my favorite style.

Hidden gem! This hole-in-the-wall place is not to be skipped out on! Growing up in the south, it's hard to find good soul food or southern food in general. If you want real soul food this is where you'll find it. Everything was delicious- seasoned and cooked perfectly! I LOVED my order of the Cornmeal Crusted Catfish with Collard Green and Cabbage with Turkey and Fried okra. I ordered with the Red Kool-aid. Service was friendly and fast! Everyone was treated like family and with love. Our newborn started crying and they were so fast to help us get to-go boxes after our meal. Will definitely be back! Parking is very confusing. There is a back alley but best bet is the street parking out front.

Ox tail and rice, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread- background chicken wings and fries

Food is absolutely amazing!! Seating is limited, so we did have to wait about 10 minutes (even at 2:45pm) to be seated-table of 6. Service was average at best, BUT the food was worth every minute we waited!! We found this gem on a YELP search after spending the day at the museum. I will definitely drive out of my way to enjoy the amazing food next time we are in Denver!

We wanted this to be better than it was. The atmosphere was okay, but it was the end of the night and they started cleaning up to close. I think someone emptied old water, so it smelled like mildew. Someone lit an incense to mask the smell, but it was a little suffocating. The food was okay. The gumbo, corn bread, and lemon cake were good. The oxtails and red beans and rice were just okay. The Mac and cheese and peach cobbler were disappointing. The people were really nice and the service was fairly quick. I don't think we waited long at all.

Out in Denver checking out the vibe.... This spot was absolutely amazing. Was located off of MLK Blvd, so that tells you the neighborhood. Was not expecting the option to sit and dine but is available. Nothing overly fancy, just a kool spot to eat. I got my food to go, and it was still warm and delicious. I got the Catfish with the shrimp, The hotlink sandwich and a side of fried okra. Everything was on point like a vaccine. A must if ur in Denver. Keep up the good work....

Went in not knowing what to expect and blown away! The soul food was all on point and cooked extremely well. Food came out hot and fresh with lots of flavor. Outside location is a small strip mall with semi confusing parking and a small sign but inside is well decorated and cute. Service was great. Lots of people getting to go orders. Will be back!

Just wanted to know, how many pieces of catfish do you get? When ordering the dinner

I had 2 large pieces with my order. My teenage son who eats like it's a competition, couldn't finish it with the two sides.

Ordered a small combo with ends and perfectly cooked catfish fillets/tenders. Sweet potatoes casserole was very tasty. I am not a greens expert but these were bitter. I did not alert the server but I thought maybe that was the way the restaurant made them. The peach cobbler was rich and good. Should have ordered ice cream as able mode. Large portions. My only big concern was the extra utility charge on the bill. I did not see it until I got nome, a little late to discuss.. On a $102.00 bill it was just shy of $18.00. I would definitely recommend but be aware of the extra charge. Restaurant/Service fee is the designation on the bill, listed as 18.5% and "is not a tip" per bill. Music was great. They also do bbq and I haven't had any in a while. I ordered the sampler with rib tips, burnt ends and fried shrimp. The grits were good and the catfish was light and crispy. The rib tips were coated in a sweet bbq sauce. Not my first choice but they were good. The burnt ends were tender. I also got to try the mini corn muffins - yummy, the mac and cheese - yummy, the yams - and the potato salad - bland. The owner told us it was his fault the potato salad wasn't good. He was a very friendly guy. Answered all our questions and spent time with us. It's always good to speak to the owner when you are from out of town. He's done a lot with the place. We would have gone another day to try other things but our schedule was tight. Everyone was happy with their choices. It's a nice place, live music on certain nights, lots of room.

It didn't feel like an old soul food cafe at all, but a lot more modern/industrial chic(?). We didn't set a reservation so we had to wait (about 15 minutes, not too bad) but the odd thing is, I don't really know why we had to wait. There were empty tables when we came in, when we got seated, and when we left. Waiter was nice enough, everyone was very nice. Food and drink? Sandwiches were all affordably priced, drink was not so much. We got a coke and a glass of Kool aid, $4 apiece, and no refill. A single glass of Kool aid for $4? 2-quarts doesn't cost a dollar to make! The fish sandwich was good. The fries were good, and my kid loves the Mac and cheese. I had high hopes for my chicken sandwich because I could tell they breaded it, and it wasn't something out of the freezer. Kudos. Problem was, it wasn't a whole breast. It was thin sliced then breaded. Half the size of what I could get at Popeyes for $5. If I'm going to a diner (which it was last time I was here) I want Mom's cooking. Not $4 for Kool aid and $8 for half a chicken sandwich, fries cost extra. Okay, but I don't need to rush back.

The cafe has a cute location next to Ruby's on E 33rd ave. The location is clean and modern, and the lady behind the counter was professional and friendly. I got there shortly after 7am on a Thursday, so I had a great selection to choose from. I tried the almond croissant ($7) and the pistachio one ($8.5). Their croissant is a third bigger than normal, and buttery and flakey, as expected in a croissant. Almond croissant is delicious. There's a thin layer of almond paste, and I think they could be little bit more generous with the almond paste given the croissant is so big. There were hardly any at the ends. Pistachio croissant looks better than it tastes. There's a fluffy sour cream butter sort of filling in the middle which didn't taste much like pistachio. I would prefer a solid pistachio paste or sprinkles of pistachio. I wanted to taste the pistachio and I wasn't getting it. I would try their chocolate croissant next time. Even the cinnamon roll was made out of the same pastry which was a surprise! For the holiday croissant trees, we ranked them in order: 1) Naughty Strawberry, 2) Nice Pecan, 3) Merry Pistachio. We didn't care for the sprinkles but understood the visual appeal! They were easy to wipe off anyways. Took off stars for customer service. My experience wasn't very friendly and the staff didn't look too pleased to be there either. They made a big deal about their online prices being incorrect versus what it was in store, and charged me the higher amount (even though that's not my fault but the person that entered it). I was standing there for a couple of minutes before I had the ask them what the issue was. One guy couldn't figure it out so passed it on to another person and left without saying anything. The 2nd employee came in late (who later told me she was the manager of Ruby Good Shoes - Hasena), didn't initiate any greetings, but they were quick to badmouth another employee who didn't show up for their shift. To a customer - wow! She perked up when I inquired about her restaurant and told me to come back to try but having experience working in customer service & food service, I can't support talking poorly about your fellow coworkers. Mainly street parking and some spaces behind the building.
