The food was really good & you get great portions for the price. Some of the food could use more salt but obviously you can add that yourself. The ladies there were super sweet and even let me try multiple foods before deciding on it. They also have some days that you get a free pastry with your food. Thank goodness we came to eat at this place! We were in Denver for a quick 3 day trip and just wanted some decent grub we don't normally get back home. They have this oxtail special on Saturdays and this fantastic young lady behind the counter had the best personality recommending items and chatting us up. Great vibe and hospitality across the board. It's like a Mom and Pop joint in the best sense of the word and for 3 sodas, a very legit Jamaican patty and this insane plate it came out to $42 (with tax). Just incredible value. The oxtails were perfectly tender, flavorful, the rice and beans perfectly cooked, and the plantains delicious. I'm so glad this was our last meal in Denver. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped about 2 feet when they brought our plate out. I hope this place truly keeps doing well and doing what they do for many years to come! read more

Cute Cuban bakery located in an area that you wouldn't find this type of food anywhere. Service was fast and friendly. Honestly coming from the Miami area I can't even compare. However everything looked good. They also have lunch ready early in the morning. I had the pan con lechón which was HUGE . The pork was actually pork instead of ham. And it was packed with meat. The pork was flavorful, but it was dry. The cortadito was good. I had a small sancocho which I was not a fan. My brother had a plate with yucca, pork and Moro rice and he loved it. He says he goes every time he is In the area. I personally was not a fan of the sandwich or the sancocho. But i would check them out since is something different in the area. read more

Amazing Cuban restaurant. Chicken fell off the bone, amazing sweet plantains, and very flavorful rice! I loved the flan as well, it was probably one of the best I've had! There are some stellar spots that I owe an apology to for visiting many times without a review. Cuba Bakery is one of them. Over the last few years, they have made my palate sing every time. Walk in on the right, check out the menu as you approach the counter to order. There is a hot food section followed by a pastry case. Someone friendly (if a bit soft-spoken, I can't hear any of them very well) will take care of you from start to finish, drinks and all. I've yet to have something on the menu that didn't make me smile. Cubano--We brought a Miami native here and he rates this among the best he's ever had. I agree. Simple, huge, delicious. Oxtail--This is a signature dish that deserves the callout. Currently, Wednesday and Saturday only. Just make sure you eat it there. The magic disappears as it cools and doesn't return with reheating. Ropa Vieja and Lechon earn a shout, too. Pork ribs yesterday were good, but I'd pass next time. All the entrees come with two sides. I usually go for Congri (black beans and rice) + fried plantains. Bakery goods and treats set a high bar as well. It's easy to fill up a box or two. I like the empanadas and cheesecake even more than the basic tarts and such. Big portions of delicious eats, reasonable prices, friendly service. Five stars. read more

Yum! I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time. The menu is glorious and it was super hard to choose what I wanted. I will definitely go back and get other items as well. I ordered the Pan con Lechon-which folx should recognize won't be like Filipino lechon, haha. I was slightly surprised but in a good way. They PACKED my sandwich with lechon, literally leaking of lechon, which is a good problem to have. I also tried the guava pastry, which was so buttery and yummy as well. I got my sandwich to go and it took about 20ish minutes? So if you're in a rush, don't go here. Overall, the establishment was very clean and the employees were great as well. My favorite sandwich is the Cuban. I love pastries and fun treats. This cafe is the best ever for fulfilling both these wishes. They have one of the best Cubans (it's so large and delicious). It even holds up over time if you want to eat the second half the next day. I've only tried a few of their treats but the guava cheese pastry I did get to try was so good I couldn't put it down. Their desserts also look amazing. If you want good food then definitely come here! read more

This is a real gem in Aurora! We stumbled upon this cafe in our quest to find something that was open and within half hour driving distance of the airport. It had good reviews and cuban food and we decided to try it. The location is in an outdoor strip mall sort of a place. There is tons of parking, which is great! From the outside, this cafe looks like a mediocre restaurant, nothing fancy or romantic, a vibe emoting "eat and go"....but once you enter, the aroma of spices and flavors hits you like a wall, a good wall! Our clothes definitely smelt of all the food that was cooking and eaten in the cafe ha ha! You can see the menu on the main wall and you have choices between appetizers, meals including daily specials, sandwiches and a whole array of desserts and baked goods. The menu is actually quite extensive. The meals are set up counter style so you see what you get. The portion sizes are huge. The entrees cost anywhere between $14-18 and these portions are definitely worth that price and more. We decided to eat there but there were several people who came to get takeout. We ordered the El Cubano (of course) and the Stew Beef, which was the daily special for Friday. Both were delicious! The stew beef was flavorful, lots of spices but not overtly heated and the meat was soft and cooked exactly the way beef pieces should be. The potatoes were well-cooked. It came with a choice of different rice options, we went for the pork rice and it was a great choice. The pork pieces were a little softer and chewier than the beef pieces and provided a different texture, which we really liked. The plate also came with some fried plantains, a favorite of my husband's! Fried plantains tend to become gooey in some restaurants, which I don't like. These were firm, properly fried and not overtly sweet or mushy. It was a great plate overall. The El Cubano was HUGE but full of meat and steaming hot off the panini maker. With every bite, you get more and more of the medley of flavors from the meat, the pickles and the sauce. It came with slim chips, which were not too heavy on the stomach. That sandwich lasted us two meals, so you can imagine how big it was. I wanted to try their guava and cheese pastry but we just didn't have any appetite left! We got a tres leches to share and this was definitely one of the best ones I've had. The cake was firm to bite into and then just melted in the mouth. The creamy sauce was excellent and sweet and just the perfect end to this delicious meal. Again, the portion is good enough for two people. The lady manning the food counter and the people manning the cash counter were all very sweet. All in all, this was a great experience and this restaurant definitely lives up to its reviews and ratings. Highly recommended!! read more

Their serving portion is absolutely humongous so you're definitely getting the bang for your buck. They stack everything on the plate as much as they can. Sandwiches are freshly made as well and is basically a footlong sandwich. As far as utensils go, you'll need to ask for them if they don't have it in their front area. There's plenty of seating available inside, however they do not have any AC. You're basically roasting while eating which was not a good experience. read more

I placed a pick up order online today and it was immediately rejected. I believe it was because I did not leave a tip. I don't feel it's neccesary to leave a tip when I'm picking up my order, and paying a service fee and taxes already. No one has left me a tip in the 35 years I've been at my job and I'm just tired of the present day mentality that "I'm working harder than you and I deserve more". We all are working hard to pay our bills, just make the damn sandwich already. read more

We stopped visiting Cuba Bakery and cafe a few months back due to the lack of courteous service. We decided to try again this last weekend and we were pleasantly surprised to get impeccable service and the quality of food was superb! We were greeted from the moment we arrived at the restaurant. Our order was taken and we waited a few minutes to enjoy our breakfast sandwiches. We were constantly checked in on asking if everything was ok. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you're served. Im not sure if this restaurant recently changed ownership, but we will definitely go back and recommend it to our friends and family. read more

Love it here, their cafe con leche and spinach empanadas are my go to. Ive tried other items like the sandwiches, they are huge and you can definitely feed two with one and they give plenty of fries. Sometimes i have a hard time communicating without my husband but they always make a effort and call someone to help. Good morning I was in the Cuban restaurant on January 31 Saturday for their oxtails. They're always amazing and I was later into the day. The server that served me put all the ends of the oxtails on my plate. I asked her to give me some meeting ones. Also she said something I didn't understand and continue to give me those ends that have no meat, just cry and fat it was so crowded in there I did a scene so I just took it and left. I got home and I was mad at myself $25 for the of oxtails. I tried to call this morning to talk to someone no answer so I put it on a review. I was very disappointed mostly because she wouldn't give me any of the meaty ones. She Just put those ends for some reason anyway the oxtails are usually very amazing. That's why I go in there but from now on, I'll just cook my own. I used to do that anyway. I won't go there anymore. read more

The location has gotten a bit bigger since the first time I was here years ago. Sunday Morning Breakfast 3 eggs, ham, potato sticks (yes the canned crunchy ones they were yummie) and some really yummy long bread and coffee or tea. This was a lot of breakfast for about 10 bucks. There were a few other breakfast selections, but honestly, I couldn't read what they were. They will bring it out to you once it's done ur you order at the counter. The cases are loaded with things for every taste. Cookies, cakes, pastries, rolls, buns everything looked fresh and delicious. Plenty of parking as it's in a strip mall. read more

After making my mid-morning doctor's appointment nearby, I was hungry for my first meal for the day (it wasn't like I was fasting for my appointment; I simply didn't have time to eat anything before my appointment.) I got on Maps (like I usually do) to search for an intriguing place to get food at and spotted this Cuban eatery on it. I wasted no time to rush to it. I just like places that sell empanadas (PERIOD)!! Now I have conquered Argentinean ones to Columbian ones to Nicaraguan ones to El Salvadorian ones to Peruvian ones, it was time that I experienced the Cuban kind again. At the store, there was a display of different types of savory and sweet empanadas. Oh boy, I'm in trouble! I wish I had the stomach the size of an elephant or horse to eat all of them. While I was being wishy washy as to which ones to choose the lady who assisted me was very patient with me. She let me take the time. I decided to go with the safest route: Spinach one. But for my second one, I chose the Guava Cheese. I also wanted to choose from the Poultry section, so I got me the Chicken (stew type thing with potatoes in it.) I was really shocked as to how generous this lady was. All the poultry stuff goes by the weight. When she put one piece of chicken leg and several pieces of potatoes in the container, I asked her to put some juice/sauce in it. She said she needed to weigh it first before she put the juice/sauce. In other words, she excluded the weight of the juice/sauce and priced it first then she poured plenty of juice/sauce into it! No store/restaurant does this especially in this tough high inflation economy. This store deeply cares about the customers and their needs. This kind of good/kind deed/act although minor and subtle is significant which didn't escape my notice. Between the two empanadas, I must vote for the Guava Cheese one. This was delicious. The Chicken stew was also delicious. The chicken was well cooked in the sauce; the meat was super tender. And the sauce was well seasoned with just the RIGHT amount of salt. It was definitely cooked to the perfection! This place is another great discovery. read more

We came over hungry and not expecting much, after a flight from Oakland and a two hour delay getting a rental car. The prices seemed high online, more like what we are used to from San Francisco. However, when we got our order, I was blown away by the portions (over double what I'm used to) and quality. The cubano was a fantastic sandwich. It easily fed me and my wife. It's worth far more than they're charging. The guava and cheese roll is huge enough to feed 6 people. We still didn't touch the other sandwich, as we were filled up by half a cubano. Service was also warm, no nonsense, and welcoming. read more

Upon arrival, you can smell the bakery. There are so many options available and everything tasted so good. My sisters and I decided to visit Cuba Bakery after watching the baker and the beauty. The empanadas are huge for what you pay for and they do not shy away from the fillings. If you are getting pastries with a bunch of people, you should just get one of everything and split it in half or thirds so you can eat the menu. We came in wanting to eat the Cuban sandwich but it was sold out or they were out of ingredients which was sad. So I'll need to return to try the sandwich. There's a dine in area as well. Hands DOWNNN a unique hidden gem within aurora!! We have been looking for a place that doesn't oversell, gives a REALLLLL good price on their food, and has a grandma cooking in the back!! The restaurant is easy to spot; its restaurant name is clearly on the front of the building with big letters. Its boastful existence to let people know about it is something I can appreciate. My anticipation was high due to its current ratings of near-perfect 5 stars. Whereas I've been to places where I truly thought they were simply overrated, I was under the impression that this place was an exception. Upon entering the eatery, a bright pastel colored mural (or wall painting I should say) with restaurant name on it was right in front of me. Its vividness - as if to say that it depicts the colorfulness of the dishes they serve - was a sure indication that it is a diverse restaurant with flavorful cooking. This also enhanced my anticipation. While I was taking some photos at the reception that was unmanned, a young lady eventually came to me with a welcoming voice. She then immediately asked me if I was there for a dine in or to go to which I said to go. The menu is a good size. Colored pictures with easy-to-understand dish name and the description, no person gets confused with what they have to offer. My intent was to get me a few small side dishes and yet as soon as I saw the "Paradise Plate" ($31.95 as of June 14, 2025), I was like, "why not?" even though I wasn't there to buy a huge plate to be shared with someone else. If you visit this place for the first time, this dish is recommended as it has everything. And the portion is huge (this can be easily split between two people.) The plate contains 3 traditional pupusas (which you'll be asked to choose from the traditional pupusa section), 1 chicken or pork tamale, 1 corn tamale, 1 savory empanada, fried yucca (2 pieces) and fried plantain (2 pieces) are all in 1 plate. On top of that, coleslaw type salad/veggie and red sauce accompanied the whole thing so when the young lady handed me my food, the plastic bag was quite the weight. Oh my goodness, what did I just get??? As a tradition of mine, as soon as I got to my car, I immediately opened the bag and then I was like oola la, I realized that I simply got waaaaaay too much food for one person. Sound like I was complaining and yet I was filled with unexplainable joy that filled my heart and mind. Some were deep-fried, some were pan-fried or oven-baked. However they were cooked, their rich and oily flavors with all kinds of spices and ingredients were all over my mouth. I ate some of it in 2 separate sittings and yet the container still had plenty of food left for me to morsel the next day. Their pita is clearly authentic and made in house. I tried the cheesecake and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. Each bite was a delight! Their flavor is what sets them apart & they're also generous with their portions. $31 for the chicken kabob plate with added hummus, a drink, and the cheesecake. Not quite a steal, but the meal is absolutely satisfactory. This place is quality you can have at 3 a.m which is rare. The atmosphere is relaxed, I enjoy the lighting as it's more of a gentle glow rather than bright lights in your face. It feels open and chill. They have an abundance of deserts on display that greet you as you walk in! 100% will be back :)

And yet in nearly twenty years of living here, I had never actually gone. Which is absurd, because it is maybe no more than ten minutes from my house. So a few weeks ago, I finally made the effort. First surprise: there is a parking lot. This alone deserves acknowledgment in this busy part of town. Second surprise: the parking lot appears to contain roughly 6.7 parking spaces. I got lucky and managed to squeeze into what felt like 1.3 of them. It is not so much parking as a close encounter. Then you notice the outdoor plastic tent seating setup, which I assume exists because inside there is room for approximately 13.4 people, which feels statistically consistent with the parking situation. The whole thing has a kind of orderly chaos to it. But from the second I walked in, the feeling was one of warmth. Really warm. Before I could even properly take in the giant glass cases full of baklava and other Middle Eastern sweets, I was greeted enthusiastically. The menu hangs above the cases, and the man taking orders, who I assume was the owner or a relative, had exactly the kind of energy that makes a place feel beloved. When I asked if he was ready to take my order, he smiled and said, "I'm always ready." It was funny, kind, and genuinely charming. I ordered baba ghanouj, hummus, fattoush, and a lamb shawarma sandwich to go. It was around 4:30 pm, which may have been a strategic masterstroke on my part because the place seemed a bit quiet. I actually got a seat while I waited, which felt like winning a small lottery. Another very friendly younger guy brought me my order out, and the service from start to finish was excellent. Truly. I left thinking, okay, I get why people love this place. Then I got home. I unpacked everything like I was settling in for a very specific kind of evening: random Netflix, adult beverage, no plans, full commitment to carbohydrates and emotional detachment. There I was, alone with my feast, ready for the Denver legend to reveal itself. And to their credit, they had included a whole bag of pita with the dips, which made me feel briefly rich. Then came the first uh-oh. The pita was dry and brittle. Not stale, exactly. Just structurally unsound. This was not pita with confidence. This was pita that had already given up on itself. It was simply not up to the task of being dragged through hummus and baba with gusto. The baba ghanouj was very smooth and only faintly smoky. Perfectly decent, but not my favorite take on it. I like baba with a little more personality, a little more drama, maybe a little more of that "yes, an eggplant absolutely died for this" energy. This one was polite. The hummus followed the same pattern. Smooth, fine, edible, but lacking the depth and garlic I wanted. Again, not bad. Just muted. It tasted like it was trying not to offend anyone, including people who do not especially like hummus. The one standout was the fattoush. Fresh, bright, and by far the best thing I ate. That was the dish that had some lift. It did not include the toasted pita I usually expect in fattoush, and I missed that crunch, but it still had the most life of anything in my order. Then I went for the lamb shawarma sandwich, and this is where things turned from mildly disappointing to physically illustrative. I picked it up, and the sandwich immediately started falling apart. Meat and sauce began leaking out like the whole structure had been assembled on hope and optimism. The lamb itself was fine, but overall it was bland. Not aggressively bad. Just not remotely worth the hype. And that is where I decided: I liked the people more than the food. Jerusalem has charm. The service was genuinely kind. The owner seemed lovely. It feels local in a real way, and I want places like this to thrive. I can absolutely imagine that for college kids, especially hungry ones near DU, this place hits exactly right. Big plates, convenient location, late-ish hours, comforting reputation, and probably some nostalgia mixed in. I like that. But sometimes the college kids are just wrong. Or maybe not wrong exactly. Maybe just young. Maybe this is less about quality and more about palate, timing, appetite, or being twenty-one and convinced that proximity to campus plus a full stomach equals greatness. That is a beautiful stage of life. I support it. But my middle-aged ass was at home with Netflix, evaluating bread integrity and garlic depth, and from that vantage point, Jerusalem just was not for me. So: three stars. Very kind service. Real neighborhood character. A warm and welcoming experience. But food-wise, not enough flavor, not enough texture, and not enough reason for me to head back anytime soon.

The food is a fine example of excellent soul food done with love through culinary knowledge and experience. We ordered the Oxtail plate with greens and yams, which included cornbread smathered in sweet, buttery love; Catfish with greens and mac and cheese. Nothing was overly salty or too much seasoning.
