What a delightful little restaurant! We arrived about 1:00, and the restaurant was still busy, but not chaotic. We were greeted and seated immediately in one of the clean, bright area. There are outdoor tables too, but we picked inside. Service is also pleasant, and the food arrived shortly after ordering. There were three different entrees ordered- shrimp poboys, crab cake sandwich, and fish and chips. The shrimp on the sandwiches were lightly breaded and fried exactly right, not a minute too much or too little. The rolls were fresh. If I had any suggestions, it would be to have the tasty sauce on the side, and maybe use the pickled cabbage instead of shredded lettuce, but they were tasty. The crab cake was mostly crab, with the right amount of filler. The fish and chips was the least successful, with too much breading, but the fish was well cooked. The choice was between house made and seasoned chips, or house sliced fries. The choice is impossible, because they're both delicious! West Point is less than half an hour from Williamsburg, and The Blue Crab is a great place for lunch. Next time we'll go on a Wednesday, when the special is meatloaf! read more

The staff is so friendly, Whitley is amazing! She is attentive without being intrusive, keeps our drinks filled & checks in with us, laughs with us, & makes it look easy. I ordered fish and chips last nite , march 28,2025 to take out, I had never had that before, all I ever had there was a crab cake sandwich a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic, just like the fish and chips that I had last nite. I've never had such good fresh fish cooked to perfection. and seasoned perfectly. My husband and I had a late lunch there recently. The food was very good! We had the Fried Pickles and the Crab Dip with Fried Pita Chips as appetizers. I also had a cup of the She Crab Soup. Everything was delicious. The fried Pita chips were outstanding. The She Crab Soup was flavorful. It was freshly made and a nice amount of Crab. The Crab Dip was outstanding. There was a little too much Old Bay for my husband's taste. He said it was a little salty. For our entree we had the Fried Seafood Plater. They gave you plenty of seafood. It consisted of Shrimp, Clams and a piece of Fried Cod. It came with Fried Potatoes cut as little cup chips. They had Cole Slaw on the side. The seafood was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The breading was not too heavy. The clams were the biggest I had ever had. The only disappointment was that the serving of Cole Slaw was very small. It was about the size as a serving of ketchup. As a person who likes a nice side, I would have expected a larger serving. We had desert. My husband had the Chocolate Brownie Ala Mode and I had the Key Lime Pie. Both were very good. As a chocoholic, my husband was thrilled. The chef did not make them. She only makes the Bread Pudding and another dessert. I have to go back for that. All in all, we were very impressed with the restaurant and the service was very good. We can't wait to go back. read more

Cute little restaurant in downtown West Point. Alyssa was our server and she was awesome. She was super friendly and quick to take our drink order. Our food came out quickly and Brandon, the chef, came out to see how we liked everything. He was great to talk to and told us a lot about the area. We came to the quaint town of West Point, VA for a graduation party. It is a charming little town, and the views of the river are lovely. On our way out of the party, we asked the hostess for her recommendation of a good local seafood restaurant, and she suggested The Blue Crab. We found the restaurant and a place to park without any problem. We were seated immediately upon entering. The service was prompt and very friendly. The place was cute and clean. All of the food looked good, but I went with the blue crab and Mac special served with a salad and creamed spinach. It was all out of this world! My husband had the fried shrimp with slaw and French fries and he enjoyed it all. I ate some of his shrimp, and it was delicious! We were too full to try dessert even though the options sounded amazing. We did, however, start our meal with the homemade hush puppies served with sweet honey butter and they were very good. We were seat promptly and immediately told what they were out of, tonight is was NY Strip, soft shell crabs and fries. That set the tone. I ordered hush puppies; the my were hot with sweet butter. Nothing super special. For my entree I ordered the crab cakes with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Delicious!! My husband ordered steamed shrimp. They were good but not deveined. The icing on the cake so to speak while we were waiting for our order the couple next to us placed a order with fries. Questioned the server and she said they had just gotten some and she could add to the order. That ship had already sailed. This is a little gem of a spot in "downtown" West Point Not far from the water The restaurant is small but cozy and clean Great spot for brunch/lunch drinks - I actually prefer a small menu because that almost always means you will be getting freshly made/ homemade food and not just frozen/reheated meals- and this place delivers on that And the smaller menu still has enough diversity that there is something for everyone I also like that you can order pitchers (mimosas etc) for lunch / brunch. Stopped for lunch on our way up to Kilmarnock for the weekend. Appetizers (crispy Brussels, hush puppies, and fried pickles) were excellent, and the mains (salad with oysters, Cobb salad, and tuna) did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable, and the service (Danielle, all by herself and doing a great job) was exceptional. All in all, this will be our regular spot when making this trip. read more

We stopped at this cute little restaurant for lunch. I was actually getting sick of seafood at this point on our trip to New York and Virginia but this place had good reviews and was not too far out of our way. Most of my travel companions got seafood but I ended up asking our server for a suggestion. She gave me several so I asked her which was her personal favorite. She said hands down, the tacos. I got them and thought they were awesome! I wish we had more time to explore the street the restaurant was on and maybe even eat there one more time! Everyone enjoyed their meal. We got two desserts for the table: key lime pie and bread pudding. I had a bite of the key lime pie and it was very good, as expected. I don't normally like bread pudding and didn't even want to try it but was convinced to "just try one bite". Wow, so glad I did, it was great! Not a soggy mess at all. It was excellent. Nice little joint. Have been here several times but my last visit was disappointing. Service was super slow, we waited almost an hour for our food and, considering they were not real busy, it was unacceptable. Made an inquiry into the estimated time to receive food (after already waiting about 45 minutes) and was told everything would be out in 5 minutes. My food arrived in 5 but the other two meals (a wrap and a crab sandwich) arrived 15 minutes later....meaning my food was bordering on cold by the time everyone else received their food. The crab dip and she crab soup were loaded with Old Bay, much more than normal, to the point the dip was almost inedible. I am writing this off to them having a bad day, since prior visits were good. Will give it another shot, hoping that my last visit was an isolated incident and not the new norm for them. read more
