The emerald green ice bucket was described as being in excellent condition. However, when I got home, I realized that it had a very obvious chip on the rim which will effect its resale value. She also described a framed image on glass as a reverse painting and it turned out to be an etched painting on glass. I sent her an email expressing my concern and indicating that I hoped she would be more diligent when posting items for auction by examining them carefully and providing accurate descriptions. I did not ask for a refund. But she ignored my email and didn't bother to acknowledge her mistakes, apologize, etc. No response. I then sent a second email noting that I was surprised and disappointed that she did not bother to acknowledge my email. Again, she ignored the email. No response. So I am posting this review.

Having the stencils is exactly my speed, and it the first art class I felt truly relaxed doing. The instructors were great and helped me to feel confident that the project would come out great. I was glad that I was able to pick out my project ahead of time online so that everything was ready for me when I got there! There's so many options to choose from so I definitely see myself coming back again! The value is great as well- you'll pay the same, if not more, at a craft fair or to have someone custom make this for you, but it's way more special knowing I made it myself!

We were rather disappointed by the temperament of the person we assumed is the owner... when asked if they would please lower the music a little, because I'm healing from a traumatic brain injury (and it was blasting commercials and music; it wasn't a pleasant music track or album), said with an attitude "Sorry I can't control where the speakers are", and from that point seemed a lot less friendly. Her attitude didn't ruin the taste of the food, but this was a special outing (my first in 3 years since falling on black ice), near Goodspeed Opera House. This is a touristy area and people that run breakfast/brunch spots are usually friendly and eager to help with small requests. Often interactions with the restaurant staff adds greatly to the experience. Her sour grapes and refusal to help me feel comfortable by lowering it a smidge (I was already wearing noise cancelling ear buds, just so you understand how loud it was and that she didn't turn it down even a tiny bit), made breakfast less nice. We won't be returning ~ there are so many restaurants struggling to survive after Covid, we'd rather spend our time and money there.

A petite, delicate demure woman stepped out from the back room as I called out, "hello?" It turns out this woman is the owner, designer, upholsterer, button and piping sewer and your new best friend. I honestly have a girl crush on this powerhouse of a business woman. She is just the all around one woman show, the quintessential get-something-done-do-it-yourself lady. Plus her pricing is just so sweet, compared to the "designers" who send out their most available person (who only knows how to measure because before that they were plumbers, it happened to me) and then charge you triple for it. Now I recommend VL to all of you. We have been shopping for lighting as we update the outside of our 1970's CT colonial and our kitchen. Countless websites with thousands of pictures led to some frustration and we decided to go visit some lighting stores. Some stores may be highly recommended but are really for designers, they are by appointment only, have a very limited supply for a showroom, but offer a really big screen so you can browse their website (ugh!) Others have a bigger supply in the showroom and have nice people who understand lighting. Then there is Valley Lighting! They had a huge selection to look at (and touch) a friendly staff who really knew their inventory, availability and options and were also full of ideas that made us open up the options we were considering. We worked with Zac and he was really great as we waffled on every aspect from design, color, and size. We settled on a design for the outdoor lights in about 20 minutes, after searching for the last several weeks. We purchased 2 Large, 2 Medium, and 2 Small lights to mount on the exterior as well as 3 post lights for the driveway. They also had a huge selection of lightbulbs and guided us through witch wattage and color would work best for our application. This seems elementary that a lighting store would do this, but I haven't seen it elsewhere. We were able to bring home two lights which I mounted (pictured) and the rest were ordered and we expect them in 2 weeks. Now that we accomplished this project it is time to finalize the kitchen lights and for that we will certainly return to VL.

It's more expensive than the box box home improvement places but it's higher quality lighting so you get what you pay for. There are surprisingly few larger lighting places around here and this one is worth a look.
