I have been driving by this place for a long time and finally stopped in because I wanted fish, really bad. The one thing I like about this place is that they cook the food when you pick it. Not already prepared like some buffet style places and you bite into the fish and it's dry and old. Days old! They have all types of fish and other seafood such as lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, and clams. The offer bags of vegetables. The service is prompt. You take a bowl, pick what you desire, tell them how you want it cook, fried or r steamed. You pay, they cook, you pick up, and leave. Just like that. This is not a sit down market. So when you eakun in you will see fish, fish, and more fish. The ambiance is casual but if you just want to come in after a board me meeting, you be better off taking this to go. The do have a counter and about 4 stools . The whole time I was there, a homeboy was there charging his phone while conversing on it all the while he is directly at the door and his feet is stretched out like he is in his living room. I can foresee a problem if someone steps on his white airforce one's. I can understand that the staff not being from this hood are reluctant to say something to him but for the customers safety of entering this establishment, the need to put that behavior in check. read more

This place has improved so much. The food is fresh and the service is on point. There is usually no less than 5 persons in the shop, but they work efficiently and non- stop. From the veggies, to the fresh seafood, everything is laid out well. Inside the shop is small and not much to look at, but that's okay because it's all about the food. You cannot eat inside, but they have a few seats that allow you to sit and wait while your food is being cooked to order. I haven't been there in years, but I'm glad to know that they have gotten better with time. They've even added lobster and crab legs to their menu. There is so much of everything to try. No frills, fish spot: fried or steamed. I prefer steamed: pick your fish and veggies, put into the plastic bowl, give to be steamed. Pick your seasoning (lemon pepper, adobe, fresh garlic, etc) Maybe about 20minutes. Good selection, fresh veggies.. it was great! Service was so disappointing today wife walked in guys behind the counter just standing there didn't even ask what would you like. She ask for our regular order usually there's a little wait. Within 5 minutes he said it's ready wife can I take a look before I pay glad she did looked. fish was all broken up four pieces whitening, and half order of large fries.. when she said it never made like this he replied if you don't Like leave.. she gladly walked out we when down to the smoke house.. This place is simple and good. Choose your seafood by hand, pay by weight. They add all the seasonings and all the butter you want (or don't?) after. The cooking process is a big steamer which keeps your food extra hot for a while. It's not a sit down and the price of seafood isn't for the faint of heart (or wallet). The service is relatively quick and the food comes out quickly. It's a great spot to get good food if you're trying not to eat red meat or carbs for a night. PS. I look forward to visiting Blue Dolphin once again. I ate there before an event at a nearby park. I was with a work colleague. I'm not sure they want you dining in, versus using the few seats while waiting for your order. I love businesses such as this. It is just more than the proverbial "hole in the wall." This place offers quality seafood at reasonable prices. They have everything laid out, the fish and shellfish on ice, and then the vegetables in plastic bags. You have a choice of fried or steamed. You grab a plastic basket, load it with your items, go up to the cashier, specify the preparation and what condiments, and then they prepare it as specified. They have soda by the can and ice tea is plastic bottles. It is simple and not fancy. But you can get items such as scallops and king crab legs. So it is a feast for the frugal. The fish are glistening. I didn't understand about the sides. It is two. Then any more are $2 per bag. It is similar to places in Astoria except for the demographics. That is to be descriptive and not normative. Elsewhere, the clientele skews toward white or white ethnic. Here, other than the person was with, everyone including me was a person of color. That doesn't make anything better or worse. It's just different. If I were in the neighborhood, which I am from time to time, I'd grab takeout and head to a nearby park. I'd recommend it especially for a group. The only issue, and it is not a complaint but simply an observation about the intrinsic issues of a meal such as this, is that it is messy. You might well be using your hands, such as for king crab legs, and even if you are not I would not recommend coming here in business attire (you also would stand out unfavorably). So bring your own wet nap or just be aware you'll need to wash up. Obviously that isn't a problem of the restaurant; it's just how it is, if you want to eat king crab legs, it won't be a dainty exercise. read more

Fish and chips, it's what's for dinner... There was a bit of a wait but it was worth it, but the fish tasted very fresh and the fries were delicious, I got the combo so it came with shrimp and crab cakes. Not too shabby. I will be back. read more

This is a great spot to get dinner. They offer steamed and fried options. The steamed fish, crab legs, shrimp and other seafood that comes with 2 veggies but you can add more for $2 a bag is a great addition. The fish and veggies is seasoned with different seasonings to your liking, from Old Bay, Adobo, Onion powder, fresh chopped garlic and other spices and topped with butter if you like. Rice is the other option. The food is always good. read more

Passed this little gem on the way home one day and just decided to stop in to pick up dinner for my family. We got 3 steamed meals for a great price. First you pick your sides (broccoli, onions, peppers, corn, yam, scallions, etc.) then you pick your fish/seafood to be steamed. They season everything to your liking and pop it in the steamer for about 15 mins. Quickest and tastiest dinner ever!!!! I can't wait for my next visit. read more

OMG! If this wasn't the best food that I've had in a long time then I don't know what is. You pick your choice if seafood which comes with 2sides (except crab legs). They add a blend of seasonings and you choose to steam or fry. I got it steamed with garlic butter drizzled on top. Everything was just perfectly cooked and amazingly seasoned. What a treat! My husband and I were heading to pick up a Sunday meal and head home for the football game. As we sat at the traffic light we saw lots of people in this fish market. We changed our plans and how glad we were. What a meal, fresh, well seasoned to perfection and worth every penny.
