May 9 I finally seized the opportunity to stop in and get a couple of cuts & slices. You know the saying," better late than never". A late visit after they have been open for a couple years turned out to be ideal. No long lines and quick service, exceptional customer service and I was given a heartfelt thanks for pulling up. When Cuts & Slices opened, the lines were around the corner, for days! I wasn't willing to partake in a lengthy wait and a extended standing period on anyone's line. I appreciate Cuts & Slices for developing a new pizza (za) taste. Something new to the world of ZA, differentiality! I tried the oxtail Za and the sweet chilli shrimp. I must say, these zas were really different and really tasty. If I had not changed my eating habits, I'd consume cuts & slices every week but I must regulate my intake on carbs. I appreciate the designs on the wall and I learned how the skateboards were influenced in the decorations in their shops. I appreciate how I was asked if this was my first visit. What can I say? Whenever I'm in town, I have to stop by Cuts and Slices for a slice or two. Their pizza combinations are always creative and packed with flavor. Today I tried the Sweet Chili Oxtail pizza and the Shrimp Black Truffle Alfredo pizza, and both were really good. The flavors were unique but worked so well together, and the slices were loaded with toppings. Surprisingly, it wasn't packed today, which made the visit even better since I could get my food quickly without the usual crowd. Inside, there's enough space for three small tables which were full of customers waiting for their food. We got 2 cheese slices to go..there's an after school deal for $6 and you get a soda. We also got a reg cheese and a sweet chili shrimp for ourselves. The specialty pizzas are expensive but the shrimp one was pretty good. Too sweet for me, so L ate most of it but he liked it. Lots of lil shrimp in every bite. The reg cheese slice was salty but the crust was crispy and airy. The slices are smaller than your avg NY slice but the quality of the dough was great. Reminds me of an artisan loaf. There wasn't oil dripping from the cheese, like your typical cheap NY slice, so that was great. It was much better than we expected since I'm sure a lot of people know about Cuts & Slices. I usually don't care for places that went viral but the slices were pretty tasty. Been rocking with the 93 Howard location since day one, so when the Queens spot opened up I had to come through and show love to Randy on the new location always supporting a Black-owned pizza spot doing it right. This was my first time at Queens and I went all in, ordered just about everything on the menu. Tried the oxtail empanadas (my first time ever having oxtail) and they were fire . The jerk Korean fried chicken wings? Easily some of the best wings I've had in a long time. Spot is super clean, well put together, and the lady at the front was mad welcoming and nice. I finally got to try the famous oxtail pizza and boy was it worth it. I only recently found out they had a second location in Queens on Linden and so glad I didn't have to go to Brooklyn to try them. They also have a third location in Manhattan on Houston as well. I got the sweet chili oxtail and curry oxtail which cost $12.50 per slice, a little pricey but worth it since it was loaded with oxtail meat. I enjoyed both slices, the meat was very tender and very flavorful. The dough was very crispy and thin so it went perfectly. They have other toppings I want to try so definitely going back. This place is a local treasure-- and by that I mean it's very hard to get to. So when I knew I was going to be in the area, I made it a point to finally try Cuts & Slices. I promised myself I was gonna try two slices but I ended up with 6. My mother-in-law has this compulsion to pay... little did she know each slice was at least $10 . You've been forewarned! My favorite was hands down the signature brown stew oxtail slice. Sweet savory melty cuts of meat spread on across a pizza. The dough was thicker than anticipated but someone pointed out it's probably to hold the toppings. Baseline, the pizza pizza portion was standard, it really is all about the interest toppings and culture fusion. My second favorite was the curry chicken, which honestly just tastes like curry chicken on a pizza. I don't think the combination was more than the sum of its parts. Same with the sweet chili, which is surprising. I bet they keep the real heat for the workers. I think the only other standout was the jerk sauce. I personally prefer a sweeter jerk. I had a pleasant visit over this location which would be my 2nd of the 3 spots located in the NYC metro area. 5 stars would be an insult to this place as I was treated very well and had a decent stay overall. The location is a bit on the small side but has ample amount of seating which I was lucky to come up to while the place was empty before it filled up with both customers and kids coming from school. I did get here around a quarter to 3 so it's to be expected. The lady behind the counter was very courteous and welcoming, even guided me through a few slices I wanted to try but couldn't get the names of. My initial reason coming here was for the Sweet Chili Oxtail Fries which was certainly on display, I also ordered a Chicken & Waffles Slice along with a Curry Chicken Slice which came up to $30. I put in a $6 tip in advance because I know the food is gonna be just as good as the service. The chef in the back was also awesome as well, he must've noticed my tip and slipped in an extra slice of sweet chili chicken. The workers here are awesome, makes me feel stoked to visit the Manhattan location in due time though I'll certainly return here in the future. The Oxtail Fries which are exclusive to the Queens location had quite a nice kick to it added with the meat of the Shredded Oxtail complimented with the fries in which that alone in and of itself is filling. Good thing it didn't overwhelm me because I wanted to take on the slices I got though the Oxtail Fries are for sure a solid recommendation for those going to the Queens area. The Curry Chicken Slice of course has it's spice, it's seasoned very well and blends surprisingly well with the texture of the pizza slice. Have a drink with you ready, the curry will test your taste buds. The Chicken & Waffle slice is a nice contrast from the spicy half of the food I had so it served as the perfect pallette cleanser. It was sweet and savory, breaded Chicken, Waffles, syrup, what more could you ask for? Last but not least the Sweet Chili Chicken, at this point I was close to stuffed but I toughed it out and finished this slice which as the name entails, sweet, a kick of spice and tender chicken added with the texture of the slice. Places like this are awesome, very experimental with the pizza perspective with very good results to show for it, top notch service and a good surrounding crowd which made me feel at ease, it's a great community spot. I ordered a slice of the Sweet Chili Oxtail pizza, taking the suggestion of the two servers behind the counter who stated that it is the most popular slice; and I am glad that I did because it was delicious. The sweet chili was not overpowering and had just a touch of sweetness, and the meat was fork tender. The price was $12.50, which is understandable because oxtail is expensive. I came on a Sunday at noon when they opened up the doors, so the pizza was already nice and hot. It did not even need any warming up. After reading g the reviews, I knew I had to try this during my next pizza craving. I got two slices: curry chicken and brown stew oxtail. I loved the curry chicken and I am really not a curry person. It was just the right blend of hot and tasty. Not a lot of extra stuff on the slice just chicken and curry and I loved it. Now I wanted to also love the brown stew oxtail but I could not. It was not what I expected and I think that jaded my opinion. I LOVE oxtail and really expected like oxtail chunks (just like with the chicken) but what I got was more like an oxtail paste and it just did not hit my taste buds the way I wanted. The crust on both slices was perfect: thin with nice exterior crunch and soft inside. My only real complaint is size! For the amount laid, I expected two hefty slices but as you can see they were pretty small. The service was excellent and pleasant and very patient with me as I asked a million questions just to make up my mind. While they have like 3 small tables, it is not really an eat in sorts place...best to pick up and go...which everyone was doing. Will I go back? Not sure. This could have created a confusion of who the next patron is on line (yours truly) but somehow the woman kept track of everything and made sure customers were served in correct order. Following this spot on social media, they talked often about long lines, but we lucked out and walked right in with only one person waiting for the food they ordered. Set up inside is a "take your food to go" style; drink fridge on the side, pizza counter with all options and an area to get napkins, spices to top pizza. Staff are full of energy, friendly, and had music playing, a bit loud when you first walk in, but your hearing adjusts. We got the BBQ chicken, sweet chili oxtail slices and sweet chili pinwheel. Everything was delicious, my son rated the BBQ chicken slice a 12 out of 10 and said he definitely needs to go back, lol. The oxtail slice was full of flavor, I added some pepper sauce to it and that just took it over the top. The slices were a bit small in size which I did not expect, but flavor flavor flavor (not sure if i emphasized this enough). The pinwheel was great, wished it had a bit more oxtail rolled into the pinwheel but overall amazing. Two slices and the pinwheel came to just over $29 with tax. Five stars just for opening up a location in the borough of Queens! Having to cross county lines for a slice of pizza in New York City seems like a lot but this pizza will get you in traffic and standing in a line for the flavors. Speaking of the line, kudos for the organized line handling and courteous staff. They were polite and prepared to get everyone fed in a timely manner. I didn't enjoy standing out in the sun so I suggest you bring an umbrella if it's hot and sunny. I waited outside for about 5 minutes before heading in and immediately ordering. After I ordered and had receipt, waited outside for less than 10 minutes. I probably could have shortened by time by taking the slices to heat up in the oven at home because we had a 30 minute drive to Far Rock afterwards. I threw them in the oven to broil for a few minutes and they were hot & crisp again. As a note for others, there is no seating area at this time. We ordered a sweet chili oxtail and brown stew oxtail for my Papa. He absolutely loved it. I shared the jerk chicken, jerk chicken truffle Alfredo, and bbq chicken slices with my husband. He was skeptical about the wait time but agreed that the pizza was above and beyond a normal slice and the taste was excellent. It is a delicious mix of pizza and home cooked flavors sometimes with a splash of extravagance aka truffles. I believe the price points are very in line with the quality of food you are getting. One of the coldest days here in NYC, my friend Bon texted that she would be hitting up the Cuts&Slices Brooklyn location so I figured I'd hit up the one in Queens because no one would be out in the cold trying to get pizza. I was wrong and there was a line but not too crazy (the max I waited was 10 minutes). I'm not lying when I say when you walk in you are greeted like family. The young man taking orders was so joyful and making banter with all of us along with helping any newbies with figuring out the menu. . I ordered the jerk chicken black truffle alfredo slice ($11.96), the brown stew oxtail slice ($11.44), and curry chicken pin wheel ($6). . Everyone is going to ask me if I liked it. Came to this location for the first time along with my daughter, it's a decent size shop not very big and we didn't have to wait long at all to get our slices. My main issue is the size of the slices they are incredibly small for the price this really makes no sense. I got two slices this day paid about $23 and my daughter was still hungry after because her slice was mostly crust which she didn't bother to eat so $8 went straight down the drain. She got the chicken teriyaki I believe and I got the truffle salmon it was good but as I said small. Nothing like the Brooklyn location! Service: Super slow. I assume it's because of the extra toppings but many slices were already made. Maybe it was the day of the week or the rainy weather. I'm not certain. Also, you weren't able to wait inside due to spacing so many of us were hiding under the awning to keep dry. Cost: I purchased two slices, Curry chicken and Oxtail Pizza. Total came to $21.76. I paid with a cc as well. Food/taste: just aiggggght! Y'all hyped this place up so much however I don't care for creative toppings. So let me first tell you that it was the most delicious pizza I've ever tried out of my norm. They offer carribean styled pizza as well as other styles. From shrimp linguini, buffalo, oxtail, curry oxtail, teriyaki oxtail the list goes on. The line was very long as expected, but the service was phenomenal. She was great, quick & efficient with all smiles while handling my order. It's a small shop but you're in & out with greatness. They were as follows: Chop Cheese Beef Pepperoni Vegan Buffalo Chicken Curry Chicken Out of all the flavors we tried, I would have to say the Buffalo Chicken was my favorite. Very flavorful and they don't hesitate on the meat. My least favorite would be the beef pepperoni. It was very underwhelming. My cousin said the curry chicken pizza was really good and had a nice kick. The vegan was actually very tasty to my surprise. But I'm not sure what meat was on It or if It was tofu. Upon entering, you ordered your slices of pizza. There are many options to choose from. I had the jerk chicken, chili oxtail and shrimp pizza. Topping flavors are definitely there but a decent slice of pizza it is not. It IS a slice but it's more of a kitschy novelty finding success from a proven formula, pizza works! The dough is extremely thick but necessary for the overabundant toppings that weigh the slice down. You DO want the quantity because slices are expensive. Dough is horrible though. Any decent pizza must have a doughy, yeasty, chewy consistency and this was more like thick cardboard. With the exception of the bland Regular, the doughs were not cooked thoroughly. We had the Buffalo Chicken and wish they would have listened when asked NOT to put that heavy-handed Ranch on top, which we abhor. Otherwise, it was Buffalo'ing. The famous Oxtail only came in the Spicy Chili, which was on the sweet side because of how they braised it and the Chili sauce placed on top. The Curry Chicken was hitting!!! The Regular is blah. Overall, it's a quaint establishment that gets you in and out. If they tightened up on their pizza dough and listening skills, it could be a lot better. Let's cut the the point, If you know me you know I love , like love love pizza. I could eat it everyday for every meal if allowed. I know ! Don't judge me ‍‼ It's been my goal to get to Cut & Slices to test taste a few options since all of Queens, NY seems to be mentioning this place! To start , on entry the staff were hospitable and welcoming. I wasn't rushed to order which gave me time to peruse a bit. I chose to try a plain slice, Chicken Parm slice, the famed oxtail slice and the jerk chicken with truffle sauce. My favorite out of them all was the chicken Parm slice. Solid , good taste and consistency. The plain slice was a bit too rich for me but flavored well. The other two were just ok in my opinion. I feel like the Jerk Chicken slice was good but way too spicy for me. Maybe they should add a 'mild' option, lol. The crust could've been not so hard as well. Overall I think this is where you find your choice and stick with it ! They have many options. I will be back to try to chicken & French toast slice , interested to see what that is like. My friends went to pick this up on a fri evening and they were sold out of a lot of stuff by 6p. Was most interested in the oxtail pizza but it honestly did not live up to the hype. It was good but not mind blowing like social media makes it seem. It was also kind of expensive per slice. We ordered 10 slices to share with friends and it came out to 120$. I didn't care for the chopped cheese pizza but the Alfredo jerk chicken was pretty good. read more
