I gave this place a ring after I saw the rave reviews on Facebook. The lady who answered the phone asked if I was looking for a one-time cleaning or regular service. I told her I was looking for bi-weekly service. Imagine my surprise when she said "Oh, we don't have any room on our schedule for that. In fact, there's a very long waiting list. Would you like me to add you to it?" I'm not Donald Trump, nor do I play him on TV, but as a small business owner and someone who has a business degree, I find it part curious, part shocking to have received this answer. A waiting list to have my home cleaned? If business is booming, why aren't you hiring more people? After I recovered from the surprise, I asked her if she had other local cleaning businesses she would recommend or could refer me to to which she said "No. I bought this place from the only cleaning lady I trust, and she's the only one I'd ever recommend." Ever have the feeling "oh, they were only trying to impress me, they are doing a great job to get my business" then on the 2nd time they suck... NOT the case here. This time, I let Uncommonly Clean come out while I was at work and the partner was on a business trip. I came home to one amazingly clean home, shiny floors, a kitchen that looked closing day clean, the blinds open just perfect, and my pillows fluffed! I'm a huge fan of this business. They have been cleaning our home for about six months and my wife and I love coming home to a clean house after they visit. The use of eco-friendly products is a huge plus for me. I've heard too much about the dangers of chemicals in the household. Having two small dogs and (someday) children, it's very important to us to minimize our exposure to toxic chemicals. Uncommonly Clean only uses product in our home that won't irritate us and we're very appreciative. The price-point is just right, maybe even lower than would be expected. The staff is curteous and professional and I feel very comfortable having them come into our house when we aren't here (I'm pretty paranoid about stuff being stolen and if I feel safe, anyone should). read more

My wife and I were moving out of a rental home that we needed clean and Uncommonly Clean did a fantastic job. We had a budget and didn't want to spend anymore than that to do what we thought was necessary to get our deposit back. Sandy worked with me via email to figure out exactly what we wanted and worked with me to get quality work done for the budget we had. The day of the cleaning not only were they right on time, but Sandy brought in some extra help and didn't charge me for it. The girls who came to our house worked hard and did a spectacular job. Uncommonly Clean was amazing! Stacy was great at getting back to me and working with me on what my time frame and budget was to book a move out service that would fit my needs. The maids were on time and asked good questions to be sure they were giving us the service we were looking for. Not only did the place look GREAT but they did it all when our AC was broken!! I was not aware of the AC as we had already moved out and it wasn't until they were done that they let us know. It just shows their dedication to their work that they still completed the task with just fans to help. I wish I had known about their service before we moved out because I think our place looked better than it ever had and accomplished at a better price than a lot of other places had quoted. After a couple of expensive visits from another "green" cleaning service I decided to call Uncommonly Clean after being disappointed with the service I had been receiving. Sandy, the owner, was extremely thorough in explaining what they offered, but also wanted to know what services I was looking for. She and her team showed up on time, and my place was spotless when the left. What a great experience it has been to hire Sandy and her staff at Uncommonly Clean! Sandy was recommneded to us by our old cleaning company when they told us that they could no longer accomodate our irregular requests for cleaning service. I hesitantly called Sandy knowing that most companies frown upon last minute cleaning appointment requests and changes to scheduled appointments but Sandy immediately said, "No problem! We can work you guys in whenever it is convenient for you!" So Sandy came over to meet me and assess our cleaning needs and I immediately knew that she was a great fit. She was noticing things that no other cleaner had every noticed and did not mind when I asked if she would do extra things that other cleaners hated doing! Sandy was always cheerful and prompt and would make it a point to call me if she thought we might be needing some help. I really appreciate how organized she stays and how communicative she is! We also really value the fact that she is not going through rolls and rolls of paper towels and tons of harsh cleaners. The fact that her staff uses microfiber cloths for everything and green, eco-friendly products really makes her services worth every penny. When I had two sets of relatives coming for consecutive visits and some long hours at the workplace - I knew I needed some help on the home front. I found Uncommonly Clean on Yelp and have now used Sandy's crew twice in past month. The first time, I had some "spring cleaning" items to do in addition to general cleaning and the second, routine cleaning. For the initial cleaning, I gave Sandy a price range and I was pleasantly surprised at how much she was able to do for me. Her crew worked around my cats and texted me when they left the house. I came home to a sparkling kitchen, shiny floors, and a fair amount of clutter straightening. Not only is their work high quality & reasonably priced, they are just delightful people to work with! I had some crazy schedule requests the first few months - completely accommodated. I have asked for extras such as cleaning out the refrigerator - completely accommodated. Since moving to Austin a year and 1/2 ago, we've experienced a few different cleaning companies. The first was a middle-aged husband/wife team who worked really slow and cut a lot of corners (like polishing the bathroom sink knobs but not actually cleaning the inside of the sink). Another was a "Green" cleaning company (according to their name & website) who came in and sprayed the house from top to bottom with aerosol cleaning sprays. Not only that, they worked so slowly (one cleaner took an entire hour to clean 1 bathroom), that the time really added up at the end. I guess 3rd time is a charm because once we went with 'Uncommonly Clean', we didn't have to look any further, Sandy & her team totally get it right... - they do outstanding work (my entire house shines after each visit) - they use mild cleaning products that are safe for pets & kids (exactly as advertised) - totally professional - always on time & reliable - honest work (they don't cut corners) - reasonable hourly rates - they work quickly & efficiently, thus not racking up un-necessary billable time (so u end up paying less than with other cleaning companies) - excellent customer service skills I would rate them a solid A+++++++ read more

I moved 6 months ago, and I promised myself I would hire a cleaning service for my new (to me) home. A co-worker/friend recommended Sandy and the Uncommonly Clean team, so I hired them for bi-weekly cleaning. I gave them a key to my house and set up a special alarm code for them to use. I leave them a check each time they come out. I wound up going home one day while they were cleaning, and I was happy with the courteous, professional staff cleaning my house. I also have a rental property, which required new flooring, paint, blinds, toilets, etc. The UC team cleaned that house very thoroughly and even cleaned some splattered cement off of some windows. They do a very good job. I also have a cat, and they UC team don't seem to traumatize the cat! :) I definitely recommend them! read more

WOWZA! Sandy's team worked miracles. We moved out and wanted to be sure to get our deposit back, and we were lucky enough to call right after someone cancelled. Our move-out clean was beyond amazing. Basically we lived in a dive of a house with multiple bug infestations. Sandy's team of three scrubbed and polished for a solid two hours and turned it into something that could fool anyone into renting it ... if they weren't aware of the cockroaches, mold and spiders. I highly recommend them for move-in and move-out cleaning. It sounds as if you need to book well in advance, but call anyway - you might have our luck and get a freed up spot. read more

I was very excited to call to set up a weekly cleaning appt. with Uncommonly Clean; the reviews were so great! But much to my chagrin, I got a message saying that if you were a new customer, they are currently working at capacity and using a waiting list. I simply cannot understand this. And apparently this has been going on for something like two months (see Wes A.'s review of 3/28/13). Why in the world would they not hire more people, especially considering the state of the economy and the fact that this is an unskilled job? It's really quite baffling. We have two small children and were drawn to Uncommonly Clean because they use eco-friendly products. At the first visit, they went around the house asking us about how we liked things cleaned, any special requests we might have, and so forth. They like to tailor their work to what their clients need. They also brought with them a variety of eco-friendly cleaning products so that we could choose which ones we preferred. Our family prefers unscented cleaning products, and we ended up choosing Method's unscented products for most of the house and Bona for our wood floors. I know a lot of people wonder whether eco-friendly products clean as well as the toxic ones, and I can tell you that yes, they do! Each time I arrive home after our house has been cleaned, I feel at peace. I really do. All is right with the world, and I can exhale for a moment. They do such an awesome job. Here are the things that I love about Uncommonly Clean: 1. They stay at my house until my house is clean instead of for a predetermined period of time. 2. The staff is consistent and easy to reach. If you need to change a cleaning time or make a special request, they do their best to accommodate you. 3. They are as picky as I am about making sure everything is cleaned well. Other agencies I had hired before Uncommonly Clean always missed the fine details. I'd find furniture not dusted, a corner of a room not mopped, etc. Not so with Uncommonly Clean! 4. They leave the cleaning products at our house and replenish them when we're running low. I don't have to worry about shopping for them, and I get a better price. 5. They are understanding of how a family lives, especially a family that has little kids and all the stuff little kids have! 6. They go above and beyond. For example, our family moved last summer during Memorial Day weekend. During a holiday weekend, they provided staff to clean the house we were moving out of and the house we were moving into. On top of that, the air conditioning broke in the house we were moving out of, and they still cleaned it for us--in the heat with no a/c at the end of May in Austin! We had tried The Maids, More Hands, and other services in Austin. Each time I desperately wanted it to work out because cleaning a house with two young children was really, really hard. But I always stopped service after just a few cleanings because I was never fully pleased with the service or the service would decline after the first cleaning. When Uncommonly Clean came the first time, I had expected them to be like the others, but they weren't. And two years later, the service is still amazing. There have been some staffing changes, and they have gotten busier with a growing client list. But they still do an awesome job. Nothing falls through the cracks. I am continually amazed. They know that their service is only as valuable as the good job they do at each house they visit. And on top of all of this, they're the friendliest people! I heart Uncommonly Clean. read more
