A friend and I decided to meet at The Boar's Nest Saloon, and unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable from start to finish. When I first walked in, the smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. If it were up to me, I would have walked right out, but the person I was meeting wanted to stay. The place was pretty empty, so we sat at the counter. The music was blasting so loudly that I could barely hear my companion. I asked the bartender if she could lower the volume, and to her credit, she did. I appreciated that, especially since this was a first time meeting and conversation was already awkward enough. We ordered drinks and were served right away. A few minutes later, the bartender dropped off the bill. I assumed it was just opening a tab, but she told us her shift was ending and that we needed to pay immediately. I've honestly never experienced that before. It put me in an uncomfortable position and felt rushed, especially since the bartender ended up staying around anyway. After a while, we decided to sit outside to continue talking. That's when things took a turn for the worse. A young man walked by and said something to my friend but wouldn't repeat it to me. He seemed upset. Later, he walked by again and said something else, so I asked what he said. He responded, "I'm sorry for saying his hair is long." My friend has long dreadlocks. I was confused, there was nothing to apologize for unless it was meant as an insult. I tried to diffuse the situation by joking that his hair was as long as mine and that the guy himself also had long hair. He continued apologizing in a way that felt very uncomfortable and strange. Then, unexpectedly, the same man walked by again, dropped a $20 bill, and said, "Drinks on me." Shortly after that, someone from inside opened the door and said, "You guys are still here? I thought you left three hours ago." That comment felt incredibly rude and unnecessary. Overall, the entire experience left me feeling unwelcome and targeted. Between the comments, the tone, and the behavior from multiple staff members, it came across as discriminatory and hostile. Whether they were owners or managers, the two women we interacted with were consistently rude as well. This is not a place I would return to or recommend. read more

I ordered from Chopped NYC (Ghost Kitchen operating out of Boar's Nest Saloon), and what I received was beyond disappointing. The two sandwiches, priced at $15.99 each, looked absolutely nothing like the advertised images. Instead of a hearty, well-prepared sandwich, I got something cold, sad, sparse, and thrown together with little care. It didn't even come with a side! I ordered this food for a very tired and overworked family member, hoping to provide a good meal, but I was embarrassed when they showed me what they received. The portions were insultingly small, the ingredients were lazily tossed in, and the overall presentation looked like something a gas station sandwich would put to shame. This is a blatant case of false advertising, and I'd strongly advise anyone considering ordering from them to save their money. At this price point, I expected something even remotely close to what was pictured. Instead, I got scammed. Avoid this place. read more

It's a smoke filled wannabe biker type of dive bar with a lot of tattoos and lot of monosyllabic four letter language along with a number of patrons who have over indulged but certainly friendly enough. When I was there, I think they were trying to get the bartendress drunk by the way they were buying her drinks and the way she was slurping them down, but she seemed to be a real trooper, managing to hold up surprisingly well considering. They're also pretty up front about things, because if you ask for a glass they'll ask you "A clean one or a dirty one?" I'd suggest you don't get cute about it and say "dirty," because you'll get one. Instead ask for an iced one because at least you'll know that they've been rinsed though mine had a shade of lipstick near the rim which, by the color, I could tell wasn't mine. Boar's Nest is a fairly large place loaded with plenty of flat screens, a couple of dart boards, a lot of motorcycle talk and a few motorcycle mechanics at the bar. It also has a rather spacious outside porch area with picnic tables and I understand at times does an outdoor barbecue in a large iron smoker/cooker. read more

My usual bar has changed in the last few months. The family feel is hanging on for now but with a new atmosphere and higher prices, people are starting to branch out. This was my first visit to Boar's Nest. A friend of mine works here and invited me to come by with a couple of our other friends. It was a little after 8pm. This bar is located on Prospect Road, just east of I-95. A small parking lot wraps around the building and the place looks tiny from the outside. Once you step in, it really opens up. The place is dark and cozy. TVs everywhere and good music that is just loud enough. They have pool and darts and a small stage for a live band. Beers are cheap, $2.50 for a Yuengling bottle. My go to. The other place I typically go to raised the price to over 4 bucks after 8pm. The place is a little smokey but it's a smoking bar. What do you expect. They have smoke eaters and not everyone is smoking. I don't understand people who give a place a bad review because they don't like the way the place is set up. Don't like it? Leave. This place suits me just fine and when good friends are around, it's even better. If you're looking for a low key, inexpensive good time, check out Boar's Nest Saloon. read more

This place is smokey and gross. There was literally a cloud in there. I asked for a beer and they had no craft beer! Nothing, not a bottle or on tap. I'm not a beer snob but my bud light days are left for beer pong tailgating. Take some pride in your bar and send the smokers outside. It's not cool to smoke and really not responsible or respectable to make other people have to breathe that. Stock your bar appropriately. This is the best kept secret in Fort Lauderdale if you are looking for a place to hang out. It's all locals, and the bartenders "know your name". The beer was ice cold out and cheap ($2.50), and the place is clean. I like the fact that they had smoke eaters (I don't smoke). Super fun place! Laurie and Lauren are great bartenders and make a good stiff drink. I had a lot of fun playing pool all night listening to the jukebox. And the kitchen makes super yummy chicken tenders - they cut and bread the tenders themselves, homemade not like typical frozen bar food. Seeing as how I live around the block, this is a definite repeat for me. read more

No food there. Not restaurant! If you are looking for a smoke filled place to drink beer, you found it. They do have other establishments that will deliver food there though.
