I had a consideral amount of work done on my boat and this guy did it in less then a week and for a very reasonable price. This was my first time going to them and I was treated great and I feel like they would never rip anyone off. And I have been to some boat shops that just try and gouge the crap out of you. We have now taken two different freshwater bass boats to this place for repairs and every time we are told 'the problem is fixed' and it isn't. We get charged, of course, and then we have to haul it all the way back over the Grade because 'this time' they are going to 'really fix it' . . . for another bill of several hundred dollars. This has now cost us thousands of dollars. Today was the last straw. First, he could not find our paperwork on his desk and he could not find our information in his 'program'. After standing around for 15 minutes while he fumbled through his pile of disorder, an employee in the back located us on the computer. As we forked over ANOTHER $355, I asked what our recourse was if the boat was still not fixed. He said we'd have to bring it back so he could take it on the lake to check it out. Not "it's finally fixed", mind you, because he finally admitted he doesn't even know what is wrong with it! At this point, I think this 'Doc' needs to be sued for 'malpractice'. He is a charlatan and a conjurer. We didn't know this because there was no Yelp review before ours but now that we know of his reviews on Yahoo, we are *not* surprised. Had the boat doc rebuild carburetors on my boat. A month later took the boat out to end up an hour in line to get it right back on the trailer. Thinking it was operator error went back through the operational steps to only find the same fuel starvation issues. Pulled the cowling to find the problem. Leaking carburetors. Living in Santa Maria asked Mark to meet me at questa grade to get the problem fixed and was told to bring it when I had my truck fixed. One of the best experiences i have had as a boat owner and i would highly recommend there services. Where i live there are no boat shops that i would ever recommend so i had to drive 1.5 hours to drop off my boat. My boat was there for a little over a week with a laundry list of items to fix/order. Once they received the parts they had to order i think it was done in about 3 days. I will always go back to Mark at the boat doc even if i have to make a trip out of it. I had to tell them they put in wrong weight oil as per Honda specs. Glad I looked at invoice again when I got home. Yes, Mark sent Greg to my house to replace oil but this time they put in correct weight oil but it was conventional oil not synthetic. I didn't say anything out of frustration. So, next day I just went ahead an drained oil and I put in 10/30 synthetic. read more

We took our boat there for a tune up and oil change wich cost $550.00 dollars. The first time we took the boat to the lake the engine started making noise. We took it out of the water and brought it back to their shop. They checked the gear box oil and it was empty. They drained it and forgot to fill it. This engine had less than 200 hours on it. They still have the boat and are giving us the run around. I have just called a lawyer. Do not bring your boat to these people they are incompetent! Louise H. read more

I had The Boat Doc make some repairs on my boat trailer and they did a great job. I needed my surge brake/coupler replaced (my old Attwood is obsolete), they converted from drum to disks, replaced bunk carpet and repaired some lighting issues. I am so glad that I didn't look at the reviews until our boat was already there. I was so worried when I saw they only got one star. Once we got our boat back and it was running great, I realized that the only people who took the time to write a review had a bad experience. We chose this place because they were open Fridays & Saturdays. Also we were debating if we should fix our boat or buy a new one. They said they could look at it and give us a bid and if it was too much, all we would have to pay is the minimum of $62, which was a lot cheaper than the other places we called. We dropped it off on Saturday and was able to pick it up the next Saturday. I would recommend this place and I plan on going there for our boat needs in the future. read more

My outboard quit running. I took it to the boat doc. They told me I needed a new power head and the cost would be more than the engine was worth. They also told me there was no compression in one cylinder. I opted to get a second opinion due to the motor running perfectly fine before briefly overheating as I knew it never got hot enough to do any damage. When I picked up the motor, the chump tried to buy it off me but claimed he didn't know what it was worth. How do you spend your life repairing outboards n not know their value? He mentioned wanting to put it on his duck hunting boat and how he could fix it n make it worth his while due to being in the business and being able to get parts cheaper. I knew it was all bs and took it to Daniel at speed marine. Daniel replaced the head gasket and thermostat and had me back on the water running great for 50 bucks. Oh yeah the compression was excellent in both cylinders. Don't trust these guys. I later found out these guys,are notorious for this kinda stuff in North slo county. read more
