This fabulous restaurant, located on the grounds of the Cameron House Hotel, was the setting for mine and Colin's meal last week. After a whole day of walking and photographing and enjoying the stunning weather, we went for a well deserved meal in here.
Initially we were going to go to the main hotel restaurant (the hotel has 3), but there was a wedding on and we didn't want to wander through the wedding photos to get in. We later found out the restaurant inside the hotel is a Michelin starred restaurant. Thank God for our wallets we went for this one!
The Boat House, located further down the hotel grounds towards, you guessed it, a boat house, is a beautiful picturesque restaurant in the summer weather. We were initially seated outside in the lovely sun on the deck, overlooking the loch, but unfortunately having been seated in the shade, we got really cold and ended up moving inside. It's a speciality seafood restaurant, and although not as expensive as it's Michelin starred sister, is still a bit on the pricey side. The selection of food is decent for seafood lovers and those who prefer some meat, pasta or veg, and so it suited Colin.
The waitress took our orders quickly and with ease; a chilli chicken with mango dish for Colin, and a marinated tuna loin with fragrant noodles for myself. The food appeared shortly after, despite a pretty busy restaurant, and was dug into. Oh my goodness that Tuna. Was. Wonderful. The sesame dressing and the cooking was all to perfection and I want another one as I'm writing this.
I'll definitely be back to this outstanding restaurant. The sole reason it's not deserving of 5* for me, is because the servers were a bit all over the place. They were messy in their service and there was so many of them serving our table for different things. If the service picked up a bit, or refined a bit, then the 5th star will appear. I'll have to return to see! read more
