I was alarmed that this office wouldn't even do a cleaning because of this "gum disease" and referred me to a periodontist for a deep cleaning and scaling. The periodontist, Dr. Yeoung, said I not only needed a deep cleaning, but also bone grafting and possibly implants. Alarm bells went off in my head because I have been so diligent with my dental hygiene for years and never even have had any bleeding during a cleaning. Also, it was going to be thousands of dollars that I didn't have. (Delta Dental would pay $1,000). I was freaked out and called my Ojai dentist and made the drive for advice. My trusted hygienist told me there was NOTHING WRONG WITH MY GUMS. These two dentists are upselling procedures and obviously are working together to swindle vulnerable patients, (which is easy to do since we can't see very well inside our own mouths and trust them for their expertise). My experience was the worst! I will be driving back to my previous dentist in Ojai for dental work!

Every aspect of the customer service was warm and calm and cheerful. I also took my son, who is 9 and was worried about everything - he was treated kindly and respectfully. In the past, I've seen dentists that find all kind of issues that were conveniently covered by insurance. Or, they poke you in the gums with a sharp instrument and say - WHOA you're gums bleed, you need a special deep cleaning that your insurance will pay for! Huh. A sharp dental instrument made me bleed? What a racket. When either of those two things happen I'm not coming back to your office. Nothing of the sort happened to us. First, the x-rays at the dentist can sometimes be the hardest part! I really appreciated the dental assistant's way of handling my occasional issue - she just calmly moved on to the next area (which required a different bite), and then went back to the problem areas later. This definitely kept me from getting flustered and it was no problem when she went back. It had been a year (COVID) since we had been to the dentist. They could have told me anything and I might have believed it. But we both were cleaned up and polished by Dr. Phil. No cavities. No pressure to do anything unnecessary. Good advice about braces, too! Also, the cleaning was that little water pressure deal, no scraping. Thank the lort. Fast and pain free. Naturally, everything was very clean, everyone was masked and gowned and there was hand sanitizer everywhere, etc. It is a nice office in general. Cool that you get x-rays and treatment all in one room. We will be back and I will be recommending Lancaster Dental to others.

It honestly felt more like a spa for your dental needs. From the moment we walked in, everyone was kind, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. You can tell they have a positive work environment, and it really shows in the way they treat their patients. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jess at the front desk. I had some confusion about the cost breakdown and she took the time to explain everything clearly. Dental costs and insurance can be confusing, so I really appreciated how patient she was and how easy she made the process. During my visit, I had a deep cleaning and some fillings done. My hygienist, Monica, was so gentle and reassuring. She knew I was anxious and checked in throughout my cleaning to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Oh was wonderful. He's personable, thorough, and takes the time to answer all of your questions. Kevin, who assisted during my fillings, was also kind and helpful. I never felt rushed, and everyone made me feel comfortable throughout my appointment. My husband also had a great experience with his deep cleanings and fillings. The care itself was excellent, and he was happy with his treatment. I also appreciated the little touches that made the experience feel different from a typical dental visit. They have TVs above the chairs so you can watch a movie or show while getting work done, and they even give you a warm towel afterward that smelled like peach mango. It was such a nice touch. The only feedback I have is more about the office operations than the dental care itself. My husband's scheduling felt a bit disorganized. He received multiple calls asking to reschedule his appointments. On the day of his last visit, he was also asked to come in earlier and had his hygienist changed at the last minute. His appointment still went well, but the scheduling process could definitely be smoother. I would also recommend keeping track of your remaining balance when checking out. On separate visits, both my husband and I were initially quoted a higher remaining balance than what we actually owed. It was corrected once we brought it up, but since it happened to both of us, I think it's something the office could improve. Overall, we've had a really positive experience and this has definitely become our new dentist office. The weeks leading up to it were filled with nothing but friends and family alike telling me they were sorry I needed it as it's a horrible procedure but that I'd be happy to have it done after the fact. I felt my heart in my stomach when the day/hour finally arrived. I got to the office and was greeted by the friendly staff. The girls are so sweet and check you in quickly. Staff in the back office are just as sweet and understanding of any irrational fears (as my own lol). I knew I wasn't seeing the same dentist as I had previously so that added to the nerves. The two girls responsible for me that day did a great job of keeping me calm and walking me through the whole process. The doctor came in and introduced himself. He also made sure to acknowledge my feelings and walked me through the whole procedure while making sure I was never uncomfortable. Dr. Michael Ortega has a magical hand. Not once did I feel any pain at all. Not when he injected the anesthesia, nor during the actual root canal nor thereafter. I was so appreciative of him and the tech who molded my crown that same day so I wouldn't have to come back. Her color matching skills are impeccable! Now you can't even tell I have a crown. Over the years, all of my kids have become his patients too, and I can honestly say I trust him completely with my family's dental care. Dr. Haze is one of the kindest, most compassionate, and most experienced dentists you will ever meet. He genuinely cares about his patients and even takes the time to personally call after dental procedures to check on how they're doing. That level of care is so rare these days. Recently, my daughter had a dental emergency outside of office hours. I reached out to Dr. Haze, and he called me back personally, helped get her started on medication, and had her in the office first thing Monday morning. My daughter is absolutely terrified of the dentist, but he is incredibly patient, gentle, and reassuring with her. He has made such a difference in helping her feel comfortable. His office is always spotless, modern, and equipped with the latest technology. The hygienists are wonderful, the front office staff is friendly and professional, and every visit is a positive experience.
