This was a very unnerving experience (no pun intended) for me as I've always been active and healthy but over the past couple of years have had several health issues. Suddenly I noticed that a very low grade, chronic ache in my right hip seem to morph into pain in my buttock that then spread down my right leg and eventually made my right foot go numb. Not good! The Doc I had seen suggested seeing a PT or massage therapist in addition to the taking the prescriptions. I decided to start off with a massage therapist. I'd never had any massages in Mt. P so I more or less picked out three that seemed to have the right words on their websites. I left voice mails with all three, describing my issue. Lisa was the first to return my message so I booked an appointment with her after some discussion about potential treatments. Long story short, over a course of 5 hour-long appointments working on my piriformis muscle and that muscle group the symptoms gradually subsided and disappeared. This wasn't the kind of soothing, relaxing massages I'd had before, she was repeatedly applying hard pressure deep into that muscle group -- actually, it was fairly painful at times. But bottom line, we stuck with it and got results. I'm very grateful for her expertise and confidence that she could fix it. Highly recommended.

I've been seeing Connor at The NOW for a few months now, and I truly can't say enough good things…read more I'm a high-anxiety personality and it's very hard for me to relax or get out of my head. I also have a background in massage therapy and work as a PT, so I'm extremely particular about who puts their hands on me. Connor is the first massage therapist I've seen in years who can consistently get me completely relaxed -- I've even fallen asleep during sessions, which never happens for me! I always leave feeling lighter, calmer, and physically amazing. If you're looking for someone skilled, intuitive, and genuinely gifted, I highly recommend him.

When I called a few hours later to explain the circumstances, the response was dismissive. The justification offered -- that the charge was necessary to compensate the massage therapist for their time -- doesn't hold up mathematically: NOW Massage's Mt. Pleasant employees earn an average of $41-$45 per hour depending on experience, while the owners reportedly grossed between $130,000 and $200,000 last year. Am I compensating an employee or pool boy? lol In good faith, I proposed a reasonable compromise: a refund of half the charge. Instead, I was offered 50% off a future service, which sidesteps the actual issue -- that I should not have been charged the full $130 in the first place. Had the situation been handled with any consideration for the circumstances, a $65 charge would have more than covered the therapist's hourly rate and reflected basic fairness. This kind of experience is exactly why longtime residents of Mount Pleasant feel increasingly alienated by businesses that prioritize rigid policy over community and basic human decency -- treating loyal neighbors like transactions rather than people.

Despite receiving a confirmation of the reservation, the staff treated her terribly, claiming that there was no reservation for her. To make matters worse, she overheard the staff making disrespectful and hurtful comments, saying she "does not belong in a place like this" and insinuating that she couldn't afford the services - that were already paid for!! This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. Not only did they fail to honor the reservation, but they also made my mom feel unwelcome and disrespected. I expect a business that claims to offer a luxury experience to treat all customers with dignity and professionalism. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to be cautious before considering this establishment. I felt sooo bad for my mom. What a way to spend Mother's Day. I travel all over for work and picked this spa (if you can even call it that) as it looked like the best experience for my mom. This experience took place around Mother's Day 2022. It is a late post, but needed to warn others of the awful service.
