Despite always approaching her politely and respectfully, my friends, my girlfriend, and I are often met with instantaneous hostility. It has gotten to the point where my friends and girlfriend ask me to order their drinks because they don't want to interact with her anymore. And when I've gone up alone, I've experienced the same dismissive and antagonistic attitude, despite never being rude or giving any reason for that kind of treatment. My girlfriend and friends are the kindest people I know and have never had issues with staff or people in general anywhere else. As a bartender in fine dining myself, I understand that the job can be incredibly stressful, but I also know how important it is to treat customers with professionalism and basic respect, regardless even if you're having a bad day. That's why our repeated experiences have been especially disappointing. I've only visited about three or four times, yet we already feel targeted. On one recent visit, people nearby overheard the interaction and my girlfriend and I talking about our experience, and they had experienced similar treatment from the same bartender. I've since learned that several other people have had comparable interactions. Some of my friends have been coming here for nearly 10 years back when it was Barfly, and even they were surprised by how we've been treated. They couldn't offer any explanation for it. I really don't want to stop coming because I enjoy the atmosphere and everything else about this place. However, it's difficult to feel welcome when every interaction with the same staff member leaves us feeling hurt and dejected. I hope management is aware of this feedback, because I'd love for this to be a place where we feel comfortable and be treated with respect and courtesy.

The inside is basically like a dive bar and they have open mic night on Wednesdays. You order at the bar and they bring you your order. There are restrooms inside as well. I'll still come on Thursday when I have a craving for the wings, which are great btw. They are smoked and I usually get the BBQ and garlic parmesan flavor. Parking is street parking.

Myself and my entire group was removed/denied entry for my medical bag being "out of policy".This…read moreis not simply just a purse or a bag I bring for convenience, it contains all three of my epilepsy medications, including my emergency seizure medication, which I need to have accessible in case of an emergency. I also have documentation and prescriptions for all of my medications. I asked if I can remove all other items in my bag ( lip gloss, chapstick, black gel pen, and hair ties) and they still said no. I then came back WITHOUT my bag and she said I couldn't come in because I was previously denied for my bag or as they say " Since we seen it in the past the policy still stands" I literally had to laugh out loud but then let my 3 friends in with fanny packs & cross body before me? I was in the back of the line and was next after my friends got checked and that's when I was denied entry the second time despite not having my bag or anything besides my phone and Id. Because of my epilepsy, I'm unable to drive, so when I go out I have to rely on public transportation, Lyft, or Uber. That means carrying my medication with me is a necessity, not something I can simply leave in my car. I completely understand that businesses have security policies and restrictions on bags. However, I was disappointed that there wasn't an accommodation. I've been to other Sacramento establishments, including The Depot, Dive Bar, The Merc, and Low Brau, where staff were able to accommodate me while allowing me to keep my bag with my medication with me. The security seem to have a reoccurring issue with customers based on the reviews on both yelp and google so that being my experience as well seems to add up. What makes this especially disappointing is that I was actually really excited to check Faces out, especially because I was looking forward to creating content there. Unfortunately, being denied entry over the medical bag left a very negative impression and completely changed my experience before I even had the opportunity to visit. I hope management considers having a clear policy for medically necessary medication and makes sure staff know how to handle situations like this appropriately. People with medical conditions shouldn't have to choose between carrying essential medication and being able to enjoy an establishment.

What I do know: The beer selection was still not particularly great; the women's bathroom had only one functioning stall (with the wall of it hanging halfway off); and at one point during the set, part of a ceiling tile fell on the guitarist's head. So objectively, this should really be no more than a three-star review. But I have so many good memories tied up in this place that my nostalgia is bumping it up to four.

We explained how we felt and asked for a refund because we were going to leave. It makes sense to refund someone who walked in and walked out, but the owner's excuse was we're adults so we should feel comfortable, and it's fair to keep our money even though we didn't stay. Located on J Street on the 27th block, this small club exceeded all my expectations for this show. Parking is mostly all neighborhood parking at street meters, but the venue only holds maybe 300 so its not horrible Going through security and ticket check was relatively quick and painless, with security and employees all easy going and pleasant. Once inside, the merch tables were a little cramped, but merch was displayed prominently and transactions were quick and easy. The bar area to right when you first walk in takes up almost the whole wall, with multiple bartenders taking orders and serving customers so ordering a beer was quick to come, ice cold and not ridiculously marked up compared to other places .They also had various mixed drink options. The actual floor/stage area was small, intimate and surrounded at back and on side with raised area with some tables and chairs that were reserved, I assume for an extra price (I didnt inquire). The acoustics were quite good, considering the bands playing(opener was a so cal punk band called The Mainliners), headliner was a heavy metal stoner/grunge type band from Norway (Slomosa). A great evening of music, venue is exceptional, looking forward to finding a show I can take the wife too, as I never explored the back or upper areas that I understand add even more layers to an exceptional experience at this venue.
