This is a great place to buy, sell and exchange books. All of the woman are extremely nice and knowledgeable. If they don't have the book they can get it. Very quickly I might add. Not to burst any bubbles but my favorite person is Elizabeth. She is funny, friendly and helpful. She recommends good books and so does her mom. I go here all the time. I love the fact that you are not rushed. You can ask tons of questions and they don't condescend to you. They are always smiling and giggling. Please take the time to stop by and take a look. I love going here...bring in a bag and buy some more books. They have great sections and a little of everything. I like that they have all the schools honor reading programs book up and available. As a mom of a soon to be high school-er I am sure we will be getting plenty from there. The little boys of love going and figuring out what new books they are going to for bedtime. Their prices do vary by the condition of the book. i have found the same book 3 times with the 3 different prices. So look around you might see the same book that's had a little more wear for less than the one being displayed. They are great about getting you a series at a time too. I was looking for books 1-8 in this series because i caught on with book 9. No problem we will have them brought in for storage. Came by the next day and grabbed them up. Absolutely love this store! The people there are extremely nice and eager to help you find what your looking for. There are plenty of good books there and I find something every time I visit, there's something for everyone. The prices aren't high and the credit you get from bringing in books is great. I love the Book Exchange! Friendly people, plenty of books! I have a credit with them. Yes, they DO accept your books, one bag at a time. I can purchase used books at half price, but must pay full price for new books. Very easy to get all of my books purchased. They have an interesting redemption system where store credit can be redeemed on used books only and for half the price and you pay for the other half. I've been purchasing books here for decades, almost since I moved to Manteca, and I can tell you definitively... they are worth the visit. The place has more books than you can imagine stuffed into such a small store, and the staff know exactly where every book is! Seriously, you can go to any of them, ask about an obscure author or title, and they'll go directly to where it is, pull it off the shelf, and hand it to you. Not just one of them... ALL of ladies there can do that! They're willing to order books for you, and they're very good about getting back to you when they're ready or if they're delayed. Despite the fact they're still doing all of their sales by hand instead of on a computer, they're quite competent and quick about getting you checked out, or tallying up your credit from the used books you turn in. The ladies are very friendly, very knowledgeable about books, and they're never too busy to take the time to chat and help you out. They might be the only bookstore in Manteca, but they've never let that make them lazy about their store... it's in good shape, they're sweethearts, and I'll be buying my books from them for many more years to come. read more

I've been going to this little bookstore for years, it's pretty cool that when you bring in books, they give you store credit that gives you 50% off used books, but it's lame you can't use it for new books. They have a really good selection and I've never left without finding what I needed. However, since they literally take all books, they are stacked everywhere. It's amazing that nobody has tripped over the piles and that anybody can find anything. The older lady, I think she's the owner can be pretty rude and inattentive, but the younger girls who work there are friendly and helpful. They get a higher review because of the selection, but lose some points because the mess in there makes me crazy. read more

Love this place, this is where you want to go if you like having good customer service. You're greeted when you walk in and you're guided to whatever it is you want. They're very patient here and buy a ton of stuff. They'll give you credit for anything pretty much. The way it works is you have to pay for half of the books you buy and the other half is from the credit you accrue from selling your old stuff. It's close and convenient. Just the way I like it. This is an absolutely terrific used bookstore. The salespeople are very kind and helpful. I wish I had found it months ago when I tried to sell used books in Modesto! (They are rude and picky when you bring in books and act like they are doing you a huge favor by looking at your books, then tell you none of them are acceptable!) Not so with this place!!! They took everything I brought & I keep my books in great condition- hardcovers have dust covers, etc. it is worth the drive to come here. They have a giant selection and tons of paperbacks. Pretty neat for a used book store. Bring books you don't need anymore, they assign a value and you earn store credit. If you use that credit towards new books, you also have to fork over some cash because they have to stay in business somehow. The quality and quantity of books are great. Yay books! I don't buy all my books here but I do buy my older books here of series that I enjoy reading because I would never pay B&N prices for a book that came out 10 years ago. I also buy children's books here & cooking books! They have all of the new stuff too. Some of the newer books are rent only & I assume that is because they only have a couple copies. I always see people bringing in books here for credit, but I'm a book hoarder so I don't do that. I have been coming to The Book Exchange since I was little and have always loved it. They have a great selection of a ton of different books for all ages, including a large nonfiction section. The ladies working there are always super nice and helpful. I came in today with my mom who was looking for a certain type of book and the lady working there helped my mom find a perfect book. We have a whole bunch of credits here so we get half off of all used books. We have been shopping at The Book Exchange for a few years now and find it to be one of the best book stores we have ever shopped at. Their selection and prices are unbeatable. My son takes honors English classes each term and needs a lot of books from the course syllabus lists. The Book Exchange makes it a point to have these books in stock. It has been so helpful and saved us a LOT of money not having to get all these books new from other sources. They have a huge selection of fiction and a nice sized crafts section in the back. And tons of children's books. I could spend all day looking around in there! You can take in your old books for store credit and save even more money. I have been haunting, visiting, and camping out at this Used Book store for 20 years! It is one of the coolest places is ever. If you can't find it, someone on its most competent staff will help you. Though small in stature, They are extremely is large on service and selection. The books here amazing and they have such a wide variety from new books to old!! When I went for the first time it was a great experience!! Just like a regular public library but better, you can exchange books and get credit and when you just go to buy books the books are normally 1/2 of the price their normally sold for!!! For example the last time I went I bought 5 books that are STILL being sold at like Barnes and Nobles and I got all of them for only $15.55!! read more
