While my coffee was being prepared, I had the chance to browse through the Books-A-Million store, which was a pleasant surprise. I explored some of the latest book releases. When my coffee was ready, it was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, the coffee beans were excellent, and it was just what I needed. This place is located in the perimeters of Orlando, Florida in a small shopping center next to the…read morerestaurant. It's nice and Qwaint and sits in a hidden area behind later places. But upon arrival, I can tell that it was a pretty laid-back please. The desk clerk was very knowledgeable about the games and their history, as well as some nostalgic items that were available. They also have lots of Funko pops if you're into that type of thing. I even like the way they use the ticket gun to price various items in the store. It reminded me of the old school candy store with the little stickers label posted on it. The items look well cared for and wrapped very thoroughly and methodically. I believe lots of the items are fairly priced and not overwhelmingly expensive. I was most impressed with the miniature video game console that sat at the front counter that pre-dated the Atari. What surprise me most about this location is that they had a actual arcade in the back with various games from the 80s like contra, galaxa, pong, Qbert, dig, dug, streetfighter, or Pac-Man, and they even had a racing game. Even though it was not a very, very large arcade, It really did bring back quite a bit of memories.

There are not too many places in 2015 where you can buy 4 paperbacks for $1 and that offer 2/$1 and 2/$2 on selected hardback books. This bookstore is small, but, it is crammed with lots of books at unbelievable bargains, they do carry some newer books and some collectible books at a bit of a premium over the ones listed above but, most people who read a lot like me should be able to find something they like at an affordable price. If you come to this bookstore bring cash, they don't accept credit cards, also, be patient and make sure you count your change, as the ladies/gentlemen who volunteer to run the shop are seasoned citizens and a few times they have gotten my change incorrect (in my favor) and I had to let them know. The shop is located in a bike/walker friendly area with parking available for vehicles at the library, on the street, a parking lot across the street, and a block down there is a free parking garage. There is also a coffee shop located next door and of course the Winter Haven public library is right across the hall.

I call Wednesday because I've received no communication about it. Was told it would be in Friday. Friday comes and goes with no call. Saturday i called, finally spoke to a guy named Kevin. He refunds me for it. Today at 8 am i get a call from them telling me its now in. Apparently the owner/manager doesn't speak to his employees about it. She tells me are you sure its refunded i tell her to have the owner/manager call me. I might have uttered a bad word because i was frustrated. I hang up. Two hours later i'm on the phone trying to get services set up for my disabled son when they were calling me again. I apologized to kevin for the bad word. Instead of accepting said apology i get raked over the coals over it. Keeps telling me about it. Sir, you are not my parent and you need to learn forgiveness. Even Jesus learned how to forgive. Kevin should try forgiveness. It might do wonders for his business, especially when amazon sells the same books he does for half the price. Amazon doesn't care if i say a bad word.

I visited because I heard that on Friday from 4-7 PM local Christian musicians got together. I ordered tea, asked one of the staff, but she didn't know. I waited for 1/2 hour and no musicians, so I left. I emailed the owner, but she never returned my email. Rude Christians with no business savvy whatsoever. Number 1 reason why, in spite of all the refurbishing of Downtown, with businesses such as this "Christian" store, Lake Wales Downtown will continue to be a dump.
