I rarely venture out for breakfast which is funny because it's my favorite meal of the day. Found myself up and out early so why not. Stopped in at Boondocks. Breakfast was good. When you can't decide get and sample everything. Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Toast, Home Fries and French Toast. All hot and fresh. With 3 tables seated and 3 other people at the counter with me, it seemed that it took longer than necessary to get a coffee but maybe that's because I needed coffee lol. But sometimes being a glass half full guy, especially pre-coffee, here is my issue. The busboy was efficient but walked past me maybe 6 or 7 times with the biggest, longest uncovered yawn in history. Now it may be a small thing but it's not what I need first thing in the morning. Anyway, it won't beep me from returning but it really is something that needs to be addressed. This place was on our way back to Logan Intl, so we stopped to get Sunday brunch based on the Yelp reviews! We were happy we did, and this place does not disappoint if you are looking for variety yet familiar breakfast food! I went traditional bacon and eggs, but hubby got the vegetarian omelette with hollandaise and he raved about it with every bite! Customer Service over the telephone is questionable. I currently live in Japan and thought about purchasing a gift card for my mother's birthday. I called to inquire about gift cards and mentioned I wanted to purchase over the telephone because I was overseas. I heard someone in the background say, "She can order over the telephone but we aren't going to mail it"! Geez! I should have told them when I called LeBaron Hills Country Club, in Lakeville they were tickled pink I called from Maryland to make a reservation for a Mother's Day brunch. Also when my mother showed up for brunch, they made a big deal that her daughter called all the way from Maryland- just a few states away. When I called Ella's restaurant in Buzzards Bay from Seoul South Korea, they where happy to mail a gift card for me. In fact, I didn't even ask, Ella's offered. While their grand opening is still upcoming, The Boondocks has been open for a couple of weeks now, and is relying primarily on word-of-mouth. I stopped by for a Sunday breakfast of Steak & Eggs, which featured an 8-oz. steak, two eggs (any style), thick (and tasty) home fries, and toast, all for $9.99. It took 20 minutes to get the food, but everything is made to order, and that's 20 minutes of somebody cooking so I didn't have to! Besides, the place was packed, and I wasn't in a particular rush, anyway. What I received for my invested time was a large plate filled with delicious food. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptionally friendly. While they are primarily a breakfast/lunch joint (they open at 6 AM), they also serve dinner on select evenings. There is plenty of parking available behind the restaurant in a newly-cleared parking lot (which was an absolute necessity for this venture to succeed). Be aware that the free refills offered on large drinks do not extend to chocolate milk -- it's more of a soda thing. Not knowing what to expect when I came here, I was very pleasantly surprised! Large portions, good food, lots of smiles with the service . . . I highly recommend The Boondocks, at least for breakfast! I look forward to returning, perhaps for lunch or dinner. read more

So far every time I have been to the Boondocks the food has been great. A lot it is made really quick especially at the slow times. Finally went here and glad I did. This is a great place. We stepped and inside and were quickly and warmly greeted. My daughter and I selected a booth and our waitress showed up right away taking drink orders and offering menus. I went with eggs, home fries, hash, and toast. My daughter went with the waffle with ice cream. Our wait for food was minimal and it was delicious! Eggs were cooked just as I ordered, hash was great and home fries were nicely seasoned. We were there for breakfast around 1130 this morning. My fiance ordered the Reuben omelette special, unfortunately he was told they were out, which they could have led with when we were greeted. We both ended up ordering the Celtic Benny. The food came out not to shortly after which was a pleasant surprise until I noticed that my eggs were close to raw... I switched plates with my fiance because the servers that were around were more interested in who would get slapped if they went to school together blah blah blah. Needless to say this was the final straw for my fiance who had been going there for years and noticed a decline in the quality of product served. read more

02/02/14 - first off let me say I am not in anyway related to the business I am about to review. When I like something I like to share it with as many people as I can. That being said; please read on. I was craving a good Sunday morning breakfast and did not want to be disappointed; I was not. Parking is in the rear of the building and more than enough for the ample seating inside. The interior is clean and well arranged with table, booth and bar type seating. The staff was eager to greet and serve and the coffee was a pleasant change from the usual donut shop offerings. Although the wait from time of order to time of serving of my meal was almost 30 minutes; the wait was well worth it. My order was exactly as i requested. Sunday mornings anywhere, half way decent, will almost always mean extended wait times as breakfast is an art and the Boondocks cooks are budding masters at their craft. The place is fairly new and there are some kinks being worked out but nothing that can't be overlooked. The Boondocks also serves lunch and dinner so my plan is to try each and report back on those. I'll let you know. But in the mean time if you are in Berkley and are craving good food at a good price try Boondocks; you won't be disappointed. read more

Great hole in the wall! Has a really homey feeling and serves food to match that, the clam cakes really didn't have much clams in it but were more like flavorful hush puppies. The Pilgrim Wrap was good as well. I've heard the breakfast is the main attraction and I'll be back for that for sure! The hits just keep coming. The pizza is ridiculously good. I haven't had crust this good outside of NY. the ingredients are amazing too. Who puts chopped ham and a pizza instead of deli ham? Everything is amazing. I'm so happy to have this place and just hope it doesn't get too busy as people figure out just what a gem is here. This place has really stepped up its game since our last visit. The seafood last week was amazingly fresh, the sandwiches are perfect and made with fresh sliced meats. I really liked this place! I wasnt sure about it when I arrived because it looked more like a garage than a restaurant but I could smell the yummy food from outside so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The restaurant was comfy and bad a local hometown feel to it. I'm a big fan of places like this. Service was great. The waitress interacted with me and my sister like she'd known us forever, which was nice. Service was fast and the waitress gave us some great suggestions on what to order. The place was slamming, and there was a constant rotation of customers and I can tell why...the food is delicious! I had the patty melt and clam chowder. Both were so so good! They make their own clam chowder in house. Along with the good food, it was super affordable. I went for lunch and they serve breakfast and dinner as well. The origin of the word "restaurant," I read is from the French, meaning, "to restore." Never before in the gastronomical history of this big blue marble has a food-serving enterprise so aptly earned this title, than in the case of The Boondocks. I refer specifically here to the Sunday morning experience, as I have not visited this establishment at any other day or time. My routine is to drive 45 miles from Boston to pick up my parents (and the occasional hangers-on) and after exchanging familiar pleasantries and inter-generational embraces, we fire up the wagon and head over to the intersection of N Main and Locust. The parking lot is unpaved, and also unmarked. Park your car a good two feet from the next one, and rest assured that the next driver will afford you the same courtesy. The niceness of this place apparently pervades its clientele. Walk through the back entrance, and wait a few moments (never more than a minute) to be warmly greeted by a perpetual motion machine posing as a hostess, before she hustles off to clean a table (probably yours) or toss two tables together for a large party, with so little effort you can hear the Popeye music playing. Be seated, and don't even bother to look at the menu. Chances are, there are enough people eating enough goodness that would not look out of place in the Errol Flynn version of Robin Hood, or any TV commercial where they make food look impossibly tasty. Point at what you want. Or, heck, ask one of the infinitely friendly waitstaff what they suggest. Be prepared to banter, and maybe volunteer some info about where you're from. Even if you have ZERO charisma (points at self), they'll make you feel like the funniest and most interesting person on the planet. If you like coffee, then you're all set. They don't have a pipe that constantly fills your cup, but the next best thing is a benevolent army of double-fisting servers who have somehow tapped into the psychic energy of the universe (or maybe just the local vicinity of Berkley) to develop clairvoyance enough, not only to detect the level of the brew in your cup, but more skillfully, to detect when it matters to YOU. And we're not talking ham-fisted hovering either...no no no that is amateur hour. If I prefer my coffee to be refilled when it's at a 2/3 level, you can bet that I will NOT be bothered with an attempt to refill until my cup reaches THAT point. Those goofy blue "learning" thermostats have got nothing on these people. The food? Sometimes it takes a minute. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes. Expect it to get delivered by three different people. Ask for anything you don't have, and it will come in a heartbeat. Make sure you're hungry. If you don't like something, make noise (don't stew in your seat and internally complain!) and it'll get fixed. Immediately. Tastewise? I can only speak for the omelettes (which are huge and good and sometimes go great with Franks (you narcissist!) Hot Sauce and sometimes as is. The French toast comes in a bunch of different styles, and they are all great. If you like something more sweet, more drowned, more whatever... just ask for it and they'll accommodate. If you kind of want to try a bunch of stuff not on the menu... one egg plus this plus that... they'll do that as well. I've not tried this, but I suspect that if you sat down with a sign draped around your neck saying, "MAKE ME THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER! I HAD A ROUGH WEEK." you'd be happy with the results. I am thinking of trying that next week. Vegetarian? No problem. Be prepared to be called "hon" or some other kind of name that you'd secretly hope to be called when you visit a casual dining establishment on a Sunday morning. Expect some loud(ish) families, but nothing that would make it on to Boston.com. There are three TVs, and they all play some kind of news... generally NECN. So you get to eat an awesome breakfast and catch up on stories about how some deer rescued some dog from some flood in some town you've never heard of, or how two kids are trying to raise awareness of videogame addiction by throwing water balloons at each other. You know the kind of low-cal TV I'm talking about. Chill. The only way your blood pressure will go up in THIS place is from the breakfast food indulgence you will experience. Raise your ears and you'll hear all manner of conversations, from the Pats to family gossip to poorly referenced and PG13 profanity-laced discourse on geopolitics or higher education (but only if I'm there). My only request? When you've finished your breakfast, please don't dawdle. One final awesome thing about this place is that everyone appears to be really sensitive about the line that forms in the waiting area. So do the right thing... when you're finished, pay yer bill, tip like you have something terminal, and go enjoy the rest of your day. And ENJOY you shall. This place will literally RESTORE your will to live, if you let it. read more

This was my first trip to The Boondocks but will not be my last. Visiting here from SE Virginia and was very impressed with the food. My nice, who lives here recommended it and both my wife and brother-in-law, both Mass. natives, were impressed with both the quality and quantity.
