This place has good breakfasts butI wouldn't eat there for dinner again. My husband and I both ordered the Portuguese steak. Waited 45 minutes for a meal to come just to have it be inedible. When we sent it back the cook was not very happy. One of the waitresses I'm assuming maybe an owner was very nice and tried to be very accommodating. But we did not want to try anything else and asked for our check. We did have two sodas. At this point it would have been nice for them to say nevermind we're so sorry you had a bad experience but no they actually gave us a bill for $4.23 for our drinks. I really liked this place! I wasnt sure about it when I arrived because it looked more like a garage than a restaurant but I could smell the yummy food from outside so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The restaurant was comfy and bad a local hometown feel to it. I'm a big fan of places like this. Service was great. The waitress interacted with me and my sister like she'd known us forever, which was nice. Service was fast and the waitress gave us some great suggestions on what to order. The place was slamming, and there was a constant rotation of customers and I can tell why...the food is delicious! I had the patty melt and clam chowder. Both were so so good! It was great to see red bliss potato homefries, unfortunately a few pieces were under cooked and the seasoning was bland, in addition the added onion was barely, if at all cooked/heated. The hash is canned. While the cinnamon french toast is nicely presented, dusting it with powdered cinnamon doesn't qualify it as cinnamon toast. This was my first trip to The Boondocks but will not be my last. Visiting here from SE Virginia and was very impressed with the food. My nice, who lives here recommended it and both my wife and brother-in-law, both Mass. natives, were impressed with both the quality and quantity. The food and service was great. I would return again. They were very friendly to our large party with 8 adults and 2 kids. The food was tasty, and my kid ate well. Chocolate milk was yummy. The one word that describes this place is "meh". Went for lunch on a Saturday, dining room was pretty empty with one waitress on the floor. Started with mozzarella sticks which were just basic frozen mozz sticks, nothing special. I got a Greek salad with grilled chicken. I was so confused by the plating, the salad was served in a shallow bowl on a large, extremely heavy plate it was fine with a 4:1 ratio of feta to lettuce. My dining companion got the special of a "Southwest Veggie Cheeseburger" which as it turns out is basically a frozen veggie burger topped with a laughable amount of lettuce and some salsa, southwest indeed. I have been here twice for breakfast. Both times, the waitress was very friendly.. the entire staff is friendly and the service is great! The food is fantastic! My husband and I went the first time and my son and I the second. My son asked for something that was not on the menu and they made it for him. EXCELLENT food. I went there with a co-worker for breakfast. I made my own 3-egg omelet with spinach, feta and sausage. Ate every single bite including the shredded hash browns and toast that came with it. Even more impressive was the service. Everything was cooked to order (my niece order her breakfast with bacon and likes it cooked "crispy"); service was superb; prices were reasonable; the place was immaculate (INCLUDING the bathrooms, which had 2 ply toilet paper AND toilet seat covers). I was about an hour early for a meeting in town. I yelped to find something nearby. The place is rather unassuming and if you blink, you could miss it. I'm glad I didn't blink... I had a Portuguese omelet with shreds. The egg was light and delightful and the filling was a perfect mix of meat, veggie and cheese. I am a huge fan of crispy shreds and these did not disappoint. I sat at the bar area and saw most of the plates coming out. Everything looked delicious. I also heard they serve dinner some nights of the week. I asked to see the dinner menu and it looked awesome. I guess I will have to make more appointments in this area. read more

Decided to try this after my husband and I have driven by probably a thousand times. Went at 10:30 am on a Saturday and we're seated right away. Staff are pleasant. We both got omelets -I got buffalo chicken which was supposed to have blue cheese but had american..not really a big deal and my husband had bacon cheeseburger. Both dishes came with home fries (delicious) and toast. We ordered muffins banana and cranberry orange and they were both freshly baked. Banana stood out for flavor. My husband also decided to try portuguese hash and it's the only reason they don't have 5 stars sitting here. It was small and disappointing. New to Berkley, couldn't believe such a great restaurant was right up the road from me!! The turkey dinner, oh my goodness AMAZING!!!! And for such a reasonable price! My boyfriend recommends I get it so he can eat the leftovers for a couple days (there is so much food!) haha! Breakfast is delicious also, I love real biscuits and gravy and these are spot on! Never had a bad meal here, and friends from different towns travel a ways to eat here because it's just that good. First off, let me just say I have been here several times and it is nothing special but it is local and the food is not bad. Service on the other hand has always tended to be slow. Today though will probably be my last time there. I went for breakfast with my husband and was greeted by the hostess as we waited to be seated. She asked "is a table is okay" and I responded that we would prefer a booth. We were standing RIGHT NEXT TO an empty booth. She told us she could not sit us there because "she needed to rotate" the seating. Well, I took my $25 to another restaurant for breakfast so I guess they still have that table we would have been seated at AND that empty booth they were saving for when it was that waitresses turn in the rotation. read more

4 stars for lunch, 2 stars for breakfast. For lunch I had clam chowder, clam cakes, and a small fish sandwich. The chowder was a little pasty but was ok for the most part. The clam cakes were pretty good and the fish sandwich was light and crispy. My wife had the fish and chips and said it was good. Service at lunch was excellent and the manager came over to check in us and tell us about the place. That was kinda nice. Breakfast the next day on the other hand was just not as good. Slow service, long wait, average food at best. I had eggs, bacon, sausage, toast & homefries. Everything was just average, low quality breakfast food. The sausage was incredibly salty but they were juicy. Kinda like Shaws brand. My wife had Texas French toast which she described as very dry despite the glob of butter on top. We also waited about 10 minutes to even get coffee and another 45 minutes to get food. We saw 3 other groups who showed up after us, all get their food before us. It felt personal like weren't regulars so we didn't matter as much. Oh well. I'd go back for a nice lunch and beer but forget breakfast. read more

I've gone here with my family numerous times. My kids eat great and so do we. The service is usually great. Only one bad experience so far, my husband ordered me a BLT and brought it to me at work.
