Had a nice stay here while in Nederland. Very close to everything you would want to see while in town Rooms right by the creek so you can relax and watch the world go by(several places to sit outside and people Watch) The place is old but they do a good job of keeping everything working and clean. Breakfast in the main area daily is a plus and was more than just toast and coffee. Staff do a nice job making you feel at home. They great you by name!! :-) Lots of nice seating in and out and games available to play as well in the upstairs main area

Came to visit my brother and needed a last minute place to stay. It was the perfect location next to a grocery store and shops.

This place is AWESOME!!!!! ...and I'm VERY particular when it comes to hotels. From when my Bfriend made reservations, our arrival to our check... out we had a great time. Our initual plans were to only fo an overnight stay and then head up to Steamboat Springs. But I fell in love with the littke town and it's really sweet-friendly inhabitants, that we stayed an additional night. Side note on that--they were completely booked up! So when we asked for another night's stay, they informed us there were no more rooms available. But as soon as one opened up they let us know! : ) I can't remember everyone's name...(Hi Matt!!)But everyone helped us and said,"hello"... they were very friendly and helpful. So....will I stay there again? Will I recommend it to friends? Will I the Lodge five stars?... Yes!!!

Nice ambiance, Wild West feel to it. That said, the heat in our room was non-operable other than a small electric fireplace in the corner. Also, for a surprise when I woke up in the morning, no hot water. I don't mean that the water was lukewarm, I mean that it was ice cold. The continental breakfast was really good, biscuits and gravy, and Denver omelettes. All in all, I would probably stay here again, however, I would ask for a room with heat, and I would take a shower at night to see if that makes a difference. That, or maybe bathe in the horse trough, to complete the wild West theme to the vacation.

I don't really understand the other reviews. Maybe I just happen to arrive at exactly the right time and got an awesome room. (289). From the price it was the cheapest option within boulder county. They allow dogs for a $10 fee which is reasonable. Absolutely loved the bed which feels like memory foam. Staff said there was a fan in the room, but it was a full on ac unit that just had to be bright near the window. Beautiful room with a beautiful view. Awesome town and is easy to walk anywhere from here. Staff was incredibly friendly. The hot tub they have is indoors right next to the river so you can hear it. Bottom line is I love this place so much I tried to stay another night, but it's completely booked. Worth staying in. As for other reviews I've seen. I do a preliminary check when I go to hotels for bed bugs, shower working, cleanliness, etc. Everything was fine, so maybe the hotel might have had a bad recent history, but my current experience was phenomenal!

For me, I should have read the small print! $$ First of all... The young lady at the front desk had to deal with me after I had not slept for 36 hours, I have to give her a very high rating for fixing my reservation and allowing me to sleep in one of the cabin room for one night instead of on a hostel cot in a unit with five other people. I did go out and make a reservation at a different establishment for the other two nights that I was going to stay in Boulder. Second of all, I just needed to sleep... So this was a perfect place to lay my head until the morning. The three stars is definitely for the staff as they were very kind and very accommodating. I don't know how to rate the room itself. The railing that led to my room was rickety so I did not use it to climb the stairs that were also questionable. The room itself and the bed and linen were clean, but the floor of the tub was so brown that I could not take a shower in it. The TV did not work, and there was no air-conditioning. They did supply a box fan, which I set up in front of the TV (that was not functional) and slept with the fan blowing on me all night. Yes, I was in Colorado, but during the summer it's as warm as Georgia! For those of you who hate your phone, this is the perfect place for you as there is NO... And I mean zero... Cell service. The bright side is, is that they do provide Wi-Fi So there you have it! Enjoy life, make lots of memories, and safe travels

The xc skiing at Devil's Thumb has always been a favorite for us, as far back as the 70's when it was just a rustic ski trail system with a small nordic supply shop. In recent years it became a full fledged resort with lodging where we have often stayed. We have also stayed in Winter Park, about 15 minutes away and driven over to ski. But we have now found our new favorite option. This is such a lovely place, both the facility and the charming staff. It is a better price value for us than some of the other options in the area, yet more than a simple motel in town. You know, like Goldilocks, "just right." I especially want to note that the (included) breakfast that host John cooks for the guests was wonderful, some sweet, some savory, warm, homemade, natural and ample for the start of even an hearty ski day. They take note in advance of special food needs and serve with a choice of time options. The log style of the building is rustic but nicely furnished. The rooms are well designed and furnished with high quality linens and have lots of storage as some guests stay for weeks. The views from each room are very pretty, some to the Continental Divide, some to the woodland. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The central lounge area was large, comfortable, attractive and clean and with a central fireplace. There are also some other smaller gathering areas to sit and talk or read if you wish to be outside your room. And there are also some family and dog friendly cabins on site if you want more than a bedroom. Personally, the rooms in the main inn are just right for my needs. We will absolutely be back. It is convenient to local xc skiing and also just a 15 minute drive past the Winter Park Resort and not far at all from several quality dinner options. We met other guests using the lodging for all of these reasons.

Some pros and cons from our stay (room 1014): PROS: - the promo included lowest room rate and $20 dining credit per day. A genuinely good deal for the price - the restaurant offers on site are pretty decent, varied, and reasonably priced for BH - staff was 50/50. Literally half were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly, while the other half was borderline rude or incompetent - the amenities were a nice perk, including a rooftop pool, and two hot tubs (1 indoor 1 outdoor) - the room and bathroom were very spacious with both a shower AND a garden tub - there were public restrooms available in the hallway - the casino floor feels spacious and there is a good variety of slot machines and table games CONS: - Communication in general is very lacking: When we walked into our room there was no literature to showcase on site dining options, WiFi password, or amenities' hours/logistics. The room service menu is not available in the Penn app nor is much information provided about one's stay. We finally found a brochure at the front desk when we went to inquire about where to find a "do not disturb" hang tag (the app live chat was useless for any room information). Room service is upon request only, that info is also not available unless asking a front desk attendant. I requested a Penn play card for gambling, the attendant did not explain how to use it, so it took us two days to realize the card must be inserted in the slots the entire time you play to track usage. You can remove it only AFTER you cash out. - It's extremely frustrating to use the Penn play cards at the machines. We had to constantly try again and again as most readers do not see a card has been inserted. Some machines we completely gave up on... - The room was TIRED (both beds had mattresses which sunk from damage/overuse, both headboards had peeling faux leather behind the pillows, there was random scotch tape on the walls and some holes/dings, the toilet's door jam was coming loose from the wall, bathroom was not extremely clean (heavy dust coating on baseboards, hair on bathroom counter, etc) - Of of 6 elevators to the tower: 4 had broken LCD screens (making it difficult to determine at which level the car would stop), 2 made very concerning cable car noises (we begun avoiding them), all 6 were unsecured (guest key card access on cars was disabled; letting ANY casino patrons access the room floors) - the pool deck has posted adults only hours (daily 7-11pm) however, despite various staff walk through a dozen children were still splashing about at 8:30pm on Friday night - the vending machine on the pool deck was out of service and drinks ordered poolside through the QR code available on tables was not delivered to the pool deck (despite note of location in order) - the ice machine on floor 10 was out of order and no microwave was available in the rooms (or in the vending room) making it impossible to get takeout if one got tired of in house options. A microwave in the vending room would be a great addition - ambient music in the casino was great mid-week throughout until on Friday night at around 8pm it was set to blast and was along with the ambient slots noise it was no longer enjoyable. We left the floor shortly after - wait staff on the casino floor was scarce both on weekdays and weekends. It didn't seem they were circulating much, and when they did come by, they often skipped us (we are not big drinkers, so it was fine for us, but it left us feeling un-welcomed). Interestingly enough, for both drinks I ordered during my stay (handed a $5 bill for tip) I was asked if I wanted any change back :-/ - the floral scent that's pumped through the AC units on the casino floor can quickly become overwhelming and a bit nauseating. I understand casinos do this to cover up odors and have a 'signature scent' however a lighter less floral aroma may be a better choice Overall a good value for us (over low-occupancy days and with a good promotion) and a change of pace for a fun few days away from the hustle and bustle of city living.

Gerry (with a G) and Millie are quite crafty making purses out of cowboy boots, fur coats, hats, boots, gloves, cell phone cases, clutches and more. The breakfast buffet is served from 7:30-9:00, the website hadn't been updated with the change and said they close breakfast at 10am. We arrived at 9:30 and were quite sad to find the buffet closed, however Gerry and Millie reopened the kitchen and made breakfasts for us! We promised to show up before 9am the next morning and found a buffet of the usual items including several different breads and fruits and breakfast burritos and home made green chili! We came back around 5pm from our adventures and Gerry invited us over to the main building for homemade ice cream! What a treat. Then they shared with us the tools of their trades for the various arts and crafts they produce. Very sweet of them. We stayed in the Bear cabin and it was perfect for 4 of us. It has a queen size bed in a separate bedroom and two twin beds in a loft. The small, but very functional, kitchen included a small fridge, a convection/toaster oven, a microwave, a 2 burner stove and a sink. A great experience... we'll be back next year if not before!

There is also fruit, cereal and pastries. You can add supper to your stay by just letting them know the day before. There is not a menu, this is more of a bed and breakfast situation. Trust me though, the meals will not disappoint. ! Ours was a melt in your mouth steak cooked exactly how we wanted it. Served with bread, salad, potato, corn and cheesecake with fresh peaches! Our cabin was spotless and so comfortable. We enjoyed time on the screened in porch. We saw moose and deer by the pond located just steps from the cabins. They also provide fishing poles if you want to fish their pond. There is so much more to say but I encourage you to check it out on your own. If you are looking for peace, quiet and beauty, this is the place! Please note that our cell service was very spotty.
