I was only in town for six days to clear out the entire house, hire an agent, and do whatever it took to prepare my friend's home for sale. I interviewed a number of local agents, and no one remotely compared to the genuine kindness, generosity, and sheer ambition to sell the house respectfully and profitably that Kerri showed in one meeting. She immediately laid down an incredibly easy process on my side and an obviously highly prepared, skilled process of marketing and sales on her side. As a former marketing executive, I was extremely impressed with the fact that she already had in place a large Facebook group for people planning to move to Charleston, as well as plans for thoughtfully targeted ad buys and many other paths to market the house. We moved out early. Gave written notice in Dec and moved at the end of February paying $3050/mo via auto-pay. We received several emails telling us to cancel our automatic payments during our move out. Being rent responsible, there are two ways management companies collect rent. 1. They send you a bill once the home has been rented 2. They have you pay monthly until move out How are we told to cancel our auto payment but ALSO pay monthly? When asked to waive our $550 late fee (they charge 15% + another $100) we were told it was against fair housing. First off, that is bullshit. I am very sure that New Heights aka Carolina One has waived more than one late fee in their existence. Why would they not waive our? 1) ITS FREE MONEY! LATE FEES ARE CLASSIFIED UNDER ADMIN FEES MEANING THET POCKET THIS FEE. 2) Accounting and close out has been done and it would be more work for them to waive the fee then for us to pay it. Out of $2750 deposit we received 0 back. All eaten up by commission and late fees along with weird charges like MAINTENANCE COORDINATION! WTF DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! LASTLY A NOTE TO OWNERS: THEY DO NOT CHECK ON THE PROPERTIES LIKE THEY PROMISE. We went above and beyond when moving out to ensure minimal work had to be done. So sad so many businesses have fallen by the wayside when it comes to customer service and compassion for humanity. Truly hope you and your families never have to experience what our family is going through during this challenging time as we support our son as he battles stage 4 T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukemia. Numerous work orders were placed and texts were sent to address these issues. These requests were not even completed a year later. The house still has a termites, flea issues and black mold. Kyle and Vinny are the most unresponsive, unorganized property managers, spending too much time posting listings on Facebook instead of handling their current tenants needs. The ceiling in my bedroom in started to continuously leak and damaged my belongings, they seemed to care less about this issue. I just had a serious surgery and couldn't do anything to stop the leaking. I tried contacting them over a 2 month span to address this issue, but my phone calls, texts, and emails were ignored. Eventually, after months of pleading they finally fixed it, blaming the delay on the landlord. They could care less about their tenants, they only want your money and to have their properties filled. I'm so glad I'm no longer a tenant with them. Avoid at all costs.
