Such a fun coffee shop to visit on a weekend and relax with a book. There's widow-facing seating as well as a couch, making for a sweet cozy homely vibe. The menu is simple, I like to order a cappuccino. The milk options are whole, oat, or almond (as seen on the menu). Your cup of coffee or matcha can get pretty pricy the more you modify!

Love the vibe, the friendly and welcoming staff and absolutely love all the seating. I just wished I enjoyed the coffee more. Maybe it was an off day because I enjoy the coffee at their other location. I'll definitely go back and try again because of the service and over all feel of the place.

A bit disappointed in this place. First off, they're running a promotion that doesn't work. I signed up for texts and went to use the code on my first order and online order, and it wouldn't take it. Second, the cold brew was good but not as strong as I like it (that's based on taste), but the matcha was disappointing. They hyped it up in the menu, but it was pretty weak. Too much milk and not enough matcha. I've had match a lot lately so it was noticeably milky.

Really tasty coffee & great recommendations by our barista! I got an iced salted caramel latte of sorts and my friend got a regular iced latte. It was perfect- not too sweet, and not acidic. Will def come again. We parked on the street during the daytime. Seems like a good hidden little spot to hole up. The yuzu almond croissant I shared w my friend was equally tasty, though on the lighter flavour profile of yuzu- more almond. Still, would def get again

I was excited to try this cafe with my friend on the last morning of my LA trip. The ambiance inside was very relaxed - lots of plants and natural light. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. The barista upsold me on sweeteners and alt milks in my matcha without any indication, verbally or on the menu, that those would create an extra charge, resulting in a $9 matcha. The matcha was good, but not $9 good. Cute place, but the food and service doesn't make it worth it.

Drinks were alright. Didn't really like the Stockholm foam. Too milky. As was the vanilla latte. Needs stronger coffee. Great place to study! Lots of tables and couches. Also lots of natural sunlight. Too bad they close early.

Making my coffee run on Sunday afternoon and deciding to stop by Boy and The Bear intrigued by how crowded the place has always been every time I passed by regardless the time in the day. Despite being busy with guests, I loved how the cafe stayed pretty quiet with most guests indeed just spent their time on their laptops or books amidst the contemporary vibes. Have been there multiple times before and trying their Stockholm Fog, Salted Caramel Latte, and Vanilla Latte and love them all! Balance between coffee, milk, and the flavored syrup were just right. Highly recommend to stop by for work, chill, or even just grabbing a cup to go.

I ordered the Salted Caramel Oat Milk Latte and Pistachio Croissant, both were delicious! I'd highly recommend this place to study or grab a cup of coffee. Their coffee is extremely high in quality and so delicious :) Interior and ambiance is really cute, monochromatic, and calming.

I really want to put 4.4 stars... The Boy & Bear has several locations across the city, and I enjoyed their Culver City branch on Washington Ave. I was curious about their flat white, as most coffee shops across Los Angeles have actually been serving cappuccino-style milk (i.e., not stretched), which is how the barista described their version. But he was being modest--this was not only the first coffee served in a porcelain cup (not a takeaway cup) from the 40 cafes I've enjoyed, but the temperature was perfect, the texture was great, and the espresso (maybe slightly over-extracted) was good. The environment was good, service was excellent, and I really liked the music~quiet enough to talk yet loud enough for good presence. The space had tables for work, comfy sofas for socializing, and plenty of natural light at the front of the cafe, ensuring a cozy atmosphere. ~ Please note that they only accept card payments.

My favorite cold brew in West LA. Cold Brew black: It's super strong, bold, full-bodied, and has a chocolate taste. The pastries are delicious, I ordered a guava and cream cheese croissant and it was so flakey and buttery. There is a lot of seating at location, with a mix of counter, bar, table, and couch seating. It's never too busy and I've always been able to find a seat. This location is a great place to work and study, and the wifi is fast even with a lot of users. The barista's are friendly too.

I wish I could keep this place to myself, but it's too good not to share. It's a great spot to work or just relax. The drinks are excellent and made quickly, which is a real plus when you're on the go. The pastries are fresh and tasty as well. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, they make everyone feel comfortable right away. The space is clean and nicely designed, creating a calm and pleasant environment. If you're looking for a reliable coffee shop with good service and a great atmosphere, this is it.

Nice coffee shop. This space is open, airy and chill. Grab a cup of coffee and a pastry and look out the window to people & traffic watch, or work away on your laptop. There's coffee and cute merch to buy if that's your thing too. My flat white and croissant were de-lish. I will be back

Ask the Community - The Boy & The Bear

What mocha powder do you use for the mocha drinks? Need to see if any ingredients are ok for me to consume for my diet

Hey I'm happy to give you the allergen list if needed. Send me a direct message and I will get back to you with the needed info.

    Are there sugar free options?

Yes of course! Outside of trace amounts of natural sugars in the coffee we don't sweeten any of the black coffee or milk drinks unless asked. Our flavorings do have a fair bit of sugar however so if you're looking for a flavored sugar free latte we…

Does this place offer "coffee tasting" as in a deal to order multiple coffees to try them all, like wine tasting per say?

Thank you for asking Rossie. We don't have anything like a flight on the menu however doing community cuppings is something that we might look at in the future. Those would look like more of a guided event rather than something we could serve as a…

Are there restrooms in the store that customers can use?

Yes. There is a door code needed. Ask the barista.

What brand of oat and almond milk do they use?

We use Califia almond milk and we typically have Minor Figures oat milk however due to supply issues we sometimes use Califia oat as well. Thanks for asking -Mark Dunnigan Head of Retail Operations

    Is this dog friendly?

Yes, please bring your dogs! We serve puppacinos and your dog definitely deserves one!! - Mark Dunnigan Head of Retail Operations

Is there parking (other than street parking)?

Nope - street parking is really your only option, but it's not hard to find around there.

Do they offer non fat milk and not the almond kind?

They have a good variety of milk for the lattes. Sometimes at the rend of the day they run low on several things though.

    Do they have WiFi?

Wifi code good for 2 hrs

I'm a simple guy: Just a dark roast drip. Will I be satisfied, or do I need to order a specialty drink in order to appreciate? Thanks!

Their coffee is good. Period. They most likely don't do dark roast--higher grade coffee is usually roasted between light and medium. But I think you'll thoroughly enjoy it--likely even more than your usual dark roast.

I ordered an espresso (Not "exspresso" - because it's never fast). By the time I got to my table, it had achieved a new physical state of matter -- somewhere between "iced coffee" and "coffee-flavored ice sculpture." My god, the staff. These people were making espresso with frostbite forming on their eyelashes and STILL had better energy than my entire friend group combined. Absolute icons. They should be doing this job in parkas and getting hazard pay in the form of a small vacation to somewhere tropical, on the house.
